Dear Sharmon, I'm so happy you're back! I really missed my weekly dosis of sea and gorgeous shells, accompanied by your enthusiasm with every find. I really like that little pink and yellow spiney jewelbox, it's so cute. 😍 Thank you for taking us with you! O, how I would love to go shelling with you in person, that is really one of my big wishes. ❤ But for now, I'll shell with you long distance. 😊 Dear Sharmon and all your viewers wherever you are, I hope you will all have a wonderful week, filled with love, joy and happiness. And of course lots of love and a big hug!! xoxo, Ilona ❤❤❤
My dear Netherlands beach friend ~ I wish I could take you shelling! I was considering trying to do "virtual shelling" via a phone call and literally go shelling while I was on FaceTime or some sort of call that the person on the other end could see the beach and I would let the person I was on the phone with keep all the shells that were found. I tend to go shelling at crazy times but I bet I could figure something out. If I do you're the first person I want to "take" to the beach with me! ❤️

I did indeed enjoy some time off but I'm ready to hit those beaches again and find us some fun things to look at. I do not like the cold but I do like those shells so I'm excited to see what the future will bring! 🐚
I really enjoyed this video. I always love to go shelling with you but for some reason this one really relaxed me and settled my jumbled mind. Thank you Sharmon for all you do. Know that there are many of us out here that can't get out and go shelling and enjoy the journey with you.
Welcome back! Nice lace murex, colorful moonsnails, horse conchs, and like you said, a little of everything! Nice to see all the different touring companies, too. And I DO appreciate that you edit your videos, because many others do not.
In the heart of a busy coral reef, there lived a beautiful Lace Murex named Lila. Her shell was a masterpiece of nature's artistry, adorned with intricate lace-like patterns that shimmered in shades of pearl and lavender and peach. Lila had a gentle and caring spirit. She spent her days gliding gracefully among the coral, tending to the tiny creatures that called the reef their home. She would offer her help to injured fish, using her delicate tendrils to mend their wounds with a touch as light as a sea breeze. One day, as Lila was exploring a hidden crevice in the reef, she came across a tiny seahorse named Finn. Finn was unlike the other seahorses in the reef. He had been born with a straight tail, which made it difficult for him to hold onto the kelps and corals and move about like the others. His dream was to explore the reef just like them, but his tail held him back. Lila's heart went out to Finn as she saw the sadness in his eyes. Without hesitation, she offered to help him. Using her delicate tendrils, she fashioned a tiny harness that gently cradled and curved Finn's straight tail, allowing him to glide and explore the reef with ease. Finn's joy knew no bounds as he swam alongside Lila. Together, they ventured into the hidden corners of the reef, discovering secret caves and vibrant gardens of coral. Finn's laughter echoed through the ocean as he twirled and danced, his heart brimming with gratitude for the beautiful Lace Murex who had changed his life. Word of Lila's kindness spread throughout the reef, and she became a symbol of hope and compassion. Other sea creatures who faced challenges of their own found solace and encouragement in her presence. Lila, the Lace Murex, showed them that beauty could be found in the act of caring for others. As the days turned into years, Lila and Finn's friendship grew stronger, and their bond deepened. They became inseparable, exploring the ocean together, and reminding all who met them that true beauty lay not just in appearances but in the kindness and love one showed to others. Lila, the beautiful Lace Murex, became a legend-a living testament to the power of kindness and the ability to make the world a more beautiful place, one act of compassion at a time.
Lila rocks. I typically go through the comments from the oldest to the newest, and I'll scan and see someone has written a bit, then I look to see who wrote it. I'm always delighted when I see your name and I settle in to see what fabulous little story you're weaved. Finn was quite lucky to have a Lila in his reef. WE HUMANS NEED TO ACT MORE LIKE ANIMALS!!! Thanks for your creativity and another delightful story! ❤️❤️❤️
Aww thanks Sharmon...Your so welcome. It gives me an excuse to dive into another world after a tough day caring for those with dementia. I feel Blessed to be able to leave a little escape for those of us who still CAN escape .
I never understand how your eyes work so well when looking for shells under the waves. It was nearly impossible for me to see anything underwater when I went to Sanibel.
@SWF Hi, we spent the whole week on Marco Island Labor Day week. We rented a boat and had a blast. We missed you by one day. We were on Kice Island Tuesday and Thursday. I felt like a Pirate with all the Treasures we found. We will definitely be back. What a fabulous trip. We stopped by our beloved Sanibel, heartbreaking but she will come back. I videoed on Kice and spoke of you in the video. The Islands don’t disappoint that’s for sure. Thanks! Much Love 🐚🐬 Happy Shelling!
Hi Sharmon, My husband blessed me with a trip to SWF! We are from Rio Rancho, NM. Our first stop was Naples, then Key West. We are heading to Fort Myers for our last few days in Florida. I've been watching you on RUclips for quite some time. Thank you so much for your beautiful videos. It's a dream come true to be here! Blessings, Diana Tipton
❤ I'm always looking forward to seeing what you have to share 🎉 Just an fyi 😊 I'm hearing a high frequency pitch sound in the background, I use earbuds and I have never heard this before. Congratulations on comp. Trip👍🥰
What a wonderful experience that was, awesome day. Those three little barnacles looked just like three baby birds asking for food. So looking forward to next week now, this was fun. Stay safe xx
I am glad I took the RUclips break so I could go shelling several times and work in the auction. Never. dull moment here in SWFL 😂 Loads of love to you! ❤️
Good morning Wow, beautiful shells, as always. Love all the merax's. Horse conks, fighting conks. Banded tulips, lighting whelkes, and the olives. I enjoy seeing all the shells. I also enjoy beach time. I could sit in the sand, listening to the water and watching the sunrise of sunset. Then pick some shells and just enjoy some time that I don't get near an ocean. I do go to Lake Michigan to relax only 1 thing missing is the shells. Have a wonderful day.
I think it's always a heart break to see or visit well-known places that have been drastically changed by humans and/or natural elements and storms. After my mom sold the home I grew up in it was so hard to see the new owners rip out the line of hedges and my mom's iris beds but change happens all the time. Sometimes it makes us more appreciative of the past but it can also be wonderful to see how new growth occurs. Maybe this how God gets us to move further down our life's path instead of lingering in the same place. I don't know but even seeing the beaches before the hurricane I could spot the changes made since I was a child visiting SWF. As we all know the beach is constantly changing...fresh and new every day (sometimes every moment) so like the waves we just keep rolling and wait to see what's going to happen next. I can't wait to see your other visits to the beach...God bless you!
Oh change can be hard, but there is no progress without change. It's the destruction I can do without! I think you have the right idea though - go with the waves and just keep rolling. You can't fight time and nature so might as well roll with it! 🌊
Sure missed you!!🤗 There’s nothing better under the sun than looking for shells!! Love your videos!! Have a great week and you know, I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since Hurricane Ian. Wow!! Crazy to think about. 🥰🐬
It is crazy to think it hasn't even been a year yet. I think that's the way we'll likely refer to time from now on. There will be before and after Ian.
I just stumbled across your channel and absolutely love your videos! You’re so knowledgeable and your videos are so relaxing. It also brings back great memories of visiting Sanibel with friends a few decades ago. Thanks for these great videos!
While I was in FMB a few days after the hurricane I did find some sand dollars and I was absolutely shocked how thin they are! How they survive the littles of currents are totally beyond me! Way way more fragile then the sand dollars from the Oregon coast for sure!! I did get four, five hole keyhole sand dollars home intact they have been cleaned and treated and I love them! (Also got two urchins home also cleaned and treated! Very thrilled considering they flew from Florida to Montana! Great day at the beach can’t wait for the next several weeks of adventures!! Thank you for bringing US!!
Some sand dollars are so brittle and others can really take a beating! I wonder if it has anything to do with how well the critter ate 🤔 I'm thrilled you found so many goodies to bring home!!
Thank you for your videos. Went to N. Topsail beach and was able to identify turkey wings, lettered olives, arks, and a kittens paw. Lettered olive was medium size and not whole, but this Ohioan was very happy.
Just started watching and saw your calendar... I just KNEW you were having a ball down there around storm time. Will have to send an email about up here. Not the same😢... Oh no. I have to find the shells myself!😊 A guide trying to kindly gift me shells would be a little irritating.😅 Awesome lace murex at 9 min! And gorgeous gaudy!👍 Lol, there was a somewhat faded purplish tagalus stuck to your finger when you were showing the sharp-ribbed drill! I can't pass up a nice banded tulip either. Came home with several the other day from Pass-a-Grille. Looking forward to seeing the next several post-Idalia videos! xxoo
At least the guides are giving me good shells 🤣 And it's so true about the shells turning up a few days later. I went to Sanibel the day Idalia hit and it was the beginning of the wonderful surprises that would roll in for the next week. That all being said, I can't wait to return to HI and show my husband how fun it is!
Really Sharmon?! The first shell you show us is my beloved olive? Lol……you are making me drool . I will get back…I will get back.. thank you beach friend!
A new favourite shelling 🙂 ...and to another thing, have you ever tried to "Stone skipping" sand dollars? I stone skip whatever not agate nor chalcedony in our beach 😀
How many different names of clams are there? Do you have samples of all them? I keep getting mixed up with clams and cockles. I like sunny beaches. Glad you braved the weather and enjoyed your day❤🎉❤
Oh there are probably thousands of different types of clams - we have a few down here but I do not know them all. The cockles are different in that they are "taller" and when you put them together they look kind of like a heart. Cockles and clams are both bivalves, but they are in different families.
@@SWFBeachLife He sure is. Thanks! We've been down 3 times already this year! My parents have a house in Reflection Lakes so it's convenient to most beaches, plus it's free to stay 😉🤣
I have not! I think the last one I found was on Fort Myers beach a few months ago. I know in the Carolina's they are all over the place but not so much down here!
I've seen people camp out at Dickman's island, but I don't know if you need a permit or anything as such 🤔 There were cabins at Cayo Costa and as I started researching those cabins I found this camping guide. I hope this helps! www.floridastateparks.org/sites/default/files/media/file/2021_CampingCabinsGuide_Reservation%20Prices%20Update.pdf
What's above the shell you are putting down at exactly 24:00? Is that one of those shells you found on the east coast of FL that you were so excited about?

I've seen people camp out at Dickman's island, but I don't know if you need a permit or anything as such 🤔 There were cabins at Cayo Costa and as I started researching those cabins I found this camping guide. I hope this helps! www.floridastateparks.org/sites/default/files/media/file/2021_CampingCabinsGuide_Reservation%20Prices%20Update.pdf
@@SWFBeachLife thank you so much 😊
I was wondering as long as y9u have been shelling how many banded tulips have you picked and kept.
Way too many to count. I actually pick up those Florida Fighting Conchs the most 😃
Sure missed you.
I'm glad to be back!
You really sound like a friend that I have lost track of. Have you ever lived in north Lakeland?
I never did - sorry!
What's above the shell you are putting down at exactly 24:00? Is that one of those shells you found on the east coast of FL that you were so excited about?
That was a cross barred venus clam! It's in the venus clam family but not all glorious and puffy like those imperial venus clams 😃
@@SWFBeachLife Oh whew! Glad you didn't miss anything special!
Going to NW Florida...any good shelling that far north?
In theory there should be, but I don't know where to send you!
I'll be at Daytona Beach later this month. Could you suggest a good place to go shelling?
I have never been shelling up in that area - I'm so sorry! The closest beach I've been shelling at in that area was Hope Sound.
