Nice work on the simple root pruning. Dave. Try flipping the pot upside down and cut the screen to the size of the bottom. Then eyeball the 2 bumps on each side and just make an 1/8 inch slit and you have a solid piece of screen. This repotting will give new life to the tree.
@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 yeah I’m curious if rooting the cuttings in water will work. I’ve tried rooting redbuds in soil many times without success yet.
Try a little lipstick on that deep cut. It will help to seal it and should preserve the branch. They now have lipstick in colors to match the trunks of your trees. Or just get gunmetal lipstick. Looks like cut paste.
@@paulformaioni37 thanks! Yeah so far this one is recovering nicely. When I watered it this morning it showed many new leaves … so I think it will be just fine.
Foist and to like also!!!
@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 Yay! Thanks!
Nice Dave mate nice 👊👊👊👊
@@Bonsaicrazy thanks, Andy!

@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 great ideas! Yeah I’m hoping the ficus responds well to this repot and gives some good late summer growth.
Definitely like it with the tiger dave :)
@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat Thanks, Xavier! I’m really happy with it. I’ll probably add some moss to it this weekend. 😀
Nice to experiment with the redbud cuttings. Maybe the younger shoots will be able to root for you. Big cut for some nice growth.

@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 I always forget to seal my cuts! Thanks for the reminder. I need to try the lipstick method.

Squirrels. The Daytime Marauders. I have the same problem.
@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 they are little stinkers for sure! 🤣
Nice buy on the ficus. It does look like a cave with the trunk. Horse walking through the cave sounds nice. HO gauge for the horse? Just a thought.
@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 oh that would be fun for sure!
How do you store your Eastern Redbud tree in winter?
@@gsacki2010 I keep it inside in my attic. Ideally, from what I understand, it would be nice to have it in an environment just above freezing.
