    Hey Spenser. I have fished lakes in Thailand, privately-owned, where the carp can be triple what you caught in Spain. Imported Aripaima have had time to grow to 3 digits and their native Catfish can be bigger than a Goliath Grouper. Honest. It would be really great to watch you fish there !

    • @Lemurai
      @Lemurai Год назад +2

      I know those lakes you’re talking about in Thailand & I honestly hated it, too many mixes of incompatible fish species in 1 pond, it’s artificial and a lot of them don’t even let you use your own bait and gear. No way the carp in those ponds exceed the size of the wild caught carp in the Ebro river, people are landing 100+ pound/60 kg carp. I’m not flying to Thailand to catch an arapaima 10 other people caught for pay. Wild caught is best, anything else is just an insult to angler.

    I caught a 40 lb Redfish 2 days ago on the Texas coast. I snagged a leader with a lead and wire surf sinker and 3 ft shark leader. My hook caught the giant ball of string that had got all tangled around the weight on the rig. I got the Redfish in and unhooked the hook that was around his jaw from the rig I snagged. Got the awesome fish free and released him. Really cool to not only snag a massive Red but also free him in much better shape than he was in before I caught him.

    Congrats on the trip. Carp don't get much respect in the US but I don't mind catching them. Caught my biggest as a young teen on a windy spring day that chased us off Mississippi pool 19 and onto a little tributary creek you could cast across. Caught a 41 and a 44 just minutes apart. Stripped a reel and I stepped on a rod tip in my excitement but I couldn't have cared less. Haven't come close to those in 30 years. Got them in the teens and 20s but nothing like those two.

    I'm the opposite. I've only caught a catfish around 30lb, give or take a couple(no scale), but I've caught a carp that was around 50, he was huge. I've had a couple giant cats on but didn't get them in, cheap gear and bad decisions, but what can you do. I've got better gear and more knowledge now and I'm still looking for them when I can get out.

    Vltava river in Prague holds quite nice cats too, if you ever stumble here, hit me up and I can show you the spots and borrow gear, as I often go spin fishing for them in the summer. They search for prey in extreme fast flowing water.
    Warm water in Spain really helps with the growth rate, it's not a native species there tho.

    Awesome video man! You always have great content, never a dull moment. A trip to Spain would definitely be awesome! You’ll definitely have to go again! And i’m guessing you’ve been watching more Flair?🤣 You used the word “beefcake” quite a bit😂🤙🏼

      Thanks man! I didn't even connect the dots with the "beefcake" statements. I guess Flair isn't wrong haha
