That "innocence" is what has kept me from being a full-blown fan instead of keeping it to my pop song playlists. I'm sure like many others, I Feel Like I'm Drowning is what pulled me in. I believe it was played on my XX radio station on Pandora. I fell for the guttural, sexy beats but my subconscious refused to give it serious attention because the lyrics are so adolescent. It's hard to say this without being outright insulting, but I imagine that if it were a grown man speaking those words he'd surely have to be the Bro type. As someone who's still wearing Vietnam issue army boots since 1987, I don't have to go further to indicate that's not my type. The lyrics on the rest of the album and others after that are similar. I'm hoping that his music matures some day because I think that great things could happen, but as he's singing about his life experiences, that is a personal journey that has a lot of tough decisions to make.
