This leads me into the "Nebulous of the Cosmos" beyond Escapism! The Great Engineers/Scientific Mathematicians are are trying to unlock the keys to the Universe through Frequency, Amplitude,and Modulation! I believe you have the Skill Set to complete the Task and with the right concert of Frequencies you will join us as Children of the Sun/Son when the Beam of Light hits the Ground! Rock on Brother! He is right. With this type of gear you only have to play up to maybe 15-25% of it's max potential to make every person on earth pretty much fully satisfied. Whereas with the other stuff he mentioned it can still sound damn good. But then you usually have to take models that cost 3-5x more in the 5% of the best that they produce, and on top of that run it more at around 50+ % of what it can do. And the sad reality is that, I would guess that there are less than 100 people on this planet that can create an environment to do so. Well done Mikey.

Hifi mainstreem needs more people like you Mike, It would help to move some manufacturers ass towards some real hifi offerings instead of going all the way by marketing. However, I'm not at a place to discount them entirely as nothing special. As you mention, they are built for different reasons and do what they do. Sonically, for me it is a matter of taste, and in that regard each to their own. My focus is to spend my time enjoying the hobby and not constantly fuss over what the equipment can do. (I do fuss a bit though, otherwise what is the point.) The gear I own, many would not consider Hi - End. Learned a long, long, long time ago not to give a shit, and just enjoy what I have been blessed with.
@@OCDHIFiGuy The best sounding albums were in 1971 & before. Something digital was added in 1972. I got a 1971 George Harrison lp, recorded from a new master tape. About 20 years later cd came out. George Harrison was copied to cd from a 20 year old worn out master tape. Master tapes can not be put on a cd to last. Remastered can improve sound, but not as good as sound was 50 years ago. So, my cd dont sound as good as my old lp, especially lps recorded on 1971 & before. There are still a few special rare analog recordings today. Cds are not all digital DDD. Old recordings on cd are ADD, or AAD. Some newer lps are more digital than cds. I dont like albums in 1972 & after, something digital was added that is harsh, not clear, & no dynamics was added. I can stand half my lps on cd. But I hate cds & lps in 1972 & after. There are only a few analog albums that are still recorded. Remenber dolby noise reduction that sounded terrible that removed the distortion from cassettes. Cds that remove lp DISTORTION sound terrible. Cds remove the acoustic guitar & saxophone DISTORTED vibrations. cds make a saxophone sound too smooth, just like a horn. Tube amps & tube microphones has that REAL SOUNDING DISTORTED GUITAR STRINGS. A really good designed transistor amp has a little natural distortion. A fourth order really good designed transistor amp has by nature preferable distortions.
I have questions, Mikie. BTW, I hope you can get the NAT phono with the full-sized tubes going. My question is about the sound of dual mono in one chassis vs two monoblocks, with one wall outlet being used. This is crazy but, would two power cables make any difference?

Also very proud that NAT is coming from my country and some friends have their amplifiers in the home systems so I am pretty familiar of what they can do for music enjoyment. What is a shame here is that you didn't mention NAT phono stage, which is among the best in the world according to some turntable constructors, but you are obviously sticked to digital sources (nothing wrong with that, me too).
You are correct. I do not recommend phono to any of my clients. I sell digital that sounds as good or better and is much less trouble and takes far less time .... I am about efficiency in listening to music ... I will bring in the Phono stages though anyways...
Its a well thought out rig, ya got good taste, nothing to prove there. Dont wanna begin to fathom how much replacement tubes are for that beast. I seem to like brands who have web sites that look like were designed in 1996 and never were updated, sums my taste up in a nutshell.
In the early 90s, getting into the whole 5.1 thing I noticed all the AV receivers weighed half as much as the receivers from the 80s, and they had no power for bass. The drivers in the speakers also got smaller and the skinny tower scene began. Why would you need a 15in sub when the amp does not have any low end power. lol.Then came 7.1, and I got away from it cause it was all BS! They just wanted to sell you 16 speakers so you could watch a movie, F! that! Soooo, even though I cant afford your gear, I sure appreciate someone that looks for the obscure, truly unique pieces the main stream would rather you didnt know about.
you paint such a rosey picture of those NAT tube amps. The damping factor is very low, like a SET Triode, so bass wont have good control. I noticed NAT doesn't post distortion specs, which I assume will be embarrassingly high. Cary audio played with similar tubes 20+ years ago and they sounded terrible. Not to mention cost. I will stick to the finesse of a 2A3 and the 300B. Low power always sounds better, especially when properly matched.
Cary Audio blows chunks in my opinion. 2A3 is not for me . No Balls... I like Rock and Roll, remember ? This is about how things sound, not how they measure. As a sick minimalist/purist, my audio-brain lights go christmas-tree-like crazy with these new NAT Magneto monos! Well, these do look like the real deal! What an idea and what a build philosophy and quality! My only question: Is that a fan, back left, behind the nice spiral heatsink?
sure is................. and..... there is some questionable quality soldering @ 21:25 (blue wire in front of that same heat sink). Handmade production and design wise looks a KILLER

I think the best looking gear ⚙️ on the market that I consider heirloom quality would be the new Vinnie Rossi Brama line. Absolutely stunning, though I can’t afford any of it. I also Like the new Arc stuff. Again, I can’t afford them, though I can afford used Mcintosh & used Pass Labs & used Arc. Which is fine by me. Are they as pretty? No, but I like the sound of the ARC, then the Pass Labs & then the McIntosh in that order for my soon to be Maggies 1.7i’s. I wish I could afford the JR 625, but it’s out of my ball bark. BTW, I am an aircraft electrician & the do use this toggle switches all over the cockpit for safety sakes. It can get bumpy up there & you don’t want an accidental switch mishap & 35,000 feet! Clear and very radically opposed distinctions -- "heirloom quality" "separate strata" (what you sell) vs "same old shiz/crap" (what other dealers sell). How could anyone want typical shiz or crap after seeing your stuff?
Power is not the whole story.. I had a GM70SE pair running at 50W.. SE amps don't control the bass anywhere near as much as a solid state, pp's do a little better. So it's not about power it's damping and most or all valve gear is rubbish when it comes to solid state in this area!!!
Correct. The passive crossovers of the speakers eat up a lot of energy and signal details. If you combine e.g. an EL34 Single Ended amp with speakers without crossovers (e.g. 3a audiodesign MM monitors from France; now made in Canada) and complement the SE tube amp with a pair of (REL) subs, you do get pretty nice results in my experience. Beautiful music in spades which i believe no solid state amp alone is capable of, regardless its price. I do agree with Mikey, that the single tube amps are the best sounding! 😀
Hi Mike, While I am developing my relationship with the Jeff Rowland Design design, and while the 625 S2 is a nice looking and powerful amp, But the 625 S2 is a class AB design. I am not knowledgeable enough about the JRD class AB design. But as you know there are tons of companies making powerful Class AB amps. I would think that his most powerful Class D, would really be the epitome of style and innovative unique circuitry. Class D has improved greatly and JRD has been part of that evolution. Plus his units are great looking.
Jeff designs the most advanced A/B amps out there. Everyone else regurgitates the 80s. Jeff designs his A/B 100% front to back. Class D uses modules so Jeff designs about 35% of those amps. I still find them better than others but I like the texture and harmonic density of an A/B..
Think again, I dont pick those brands. Those 805 amps are made in Europe not shitty China and I just sold the 120Watt pair for $4K .... These are the deals my peeps get... No Bozos allowed..

Exotic is fine, but try to service or get parts 7 years down the line. Its bad enough on S.O.S. I'll agree with you regarding visual design.
NAT been around for a long time, some "exotic" brands give longer support then big brand name companies.
You can get a replacement Denon AVR cheap in a charity store when your old one stops working.

Macs are over rated IMO.

Fully dual mono will have 2 power cords and 2 completely separate power supplies inside. Dual mono signal path is different but still a good thing.

$150 replacement tubes since they are not recognized as HiFi but rather Radio Transmitters.

What would be your recommendation for a 2a3 amplifier.Any company that you can suggest to look at.Canary doesn't make them.
Whammerdyne Industries. (Ive only shown with that company in Colorado, and I dont know anything about 2A3 amps)
Look for a used Moth 2A3 amp…. Hard to find…. But worth the effort!
The baby Whammerdyne packs a lot of punch but you do need efficient speakers. I can heartily recommend it!

BTW, I am an aircraft electrician & the do use this toggle switches all over the cockpit for safety sakes. It can get bumpy up there & you don’t want an accidental switch mishap & 35,000 feet! Power is not the whole story.. I had a GM70SE pair running at 50W.. SE amps don't control the bass anywhere near as much as a solid state, pp's do a little better. So it's not about power it's damping and most or all valve gear is rubbish when it comes to solid state in this area!!!
Correct. The passive crossovers of the speakers eat up a lot of energy and signal details. If you combine e.g. an EL34 Single Ended amp with speakers without crossovers (e.g. 3a audiodesign MM monitors from France; now made in Canada) and complement the SE tube amp with a pair of (REL) subs, you do get pretty nice results in my experience. Beautiful music in spades which i believe no solid state amp alone is capable of, regardless its price. I do agree with Mikey, that the single tube amps are the best sounding! 😀
Hi Mike, While I am developing my relationship with the Jeff Rowland Design design, and while the 625 S2 is a nice looking and powerful amp, But the 625 S2 is a class AB design. I am not knowledgeable enough about the JRD class AB design. But as you know there are tons of companies making powerful Class AB amps. I would think that his most powerful Class D, would really be the epitome of style and innovative unique circuitry. Class D has improved greatly and JRD has been part of that evolution. Plus his units are great looking.
Jeff designs the most advanced A/B amps out there. Everyone else regurgitates the 80s. Jeff designs his A/B 100% front to back. Class D uses modules so Jeff designs about 35% of those amps. I still find them better than others but I like the texture and harmonic density of an A/B..

Think again, I dont pick those brands. Those 805 amps are made in Europe not shitty China and I just sold the 120Watt pair for $4K .... These are the deals my peeps get... No Bozos allowed..
