A buddy of ours bought a '66 Riviera in 1971. It had 20,000 original miles and had been covered in a tarp in a garrage. Death in the family forced sale. What a MONSTER. GM medium blue. The most fun was watching the gas guage drop when he put the pedal to the metal. Nice build, Chris. Thanks for sharing!
I had a 67, first year of the 430. Light blue with white interior. Way too much car for me at the time lol. Paid $700 for it in 1998. Sold it for about that a few months later. This model takes me back. Well done as always!
Hey GunzNButter86 from Massachusetts, and those clear molded wire wheels are for the kit that comes with the lowrider bicycle kit that I've built once and have never been able to find again. I believe it was a multi option kit that had multiple suspension parts that you could either make it Slammed on the ground, normal ride height, or lifted like the lowriders. The kit I built, I used the wire style neon lights and had the under glow along with the lights inside the car too.
I am not a car model guy. I always messed them up when I was a kid. That being said, this is the nicest model result I have ever seen. It is particularly interesting to me since I own a 1966 Riviera GS ( full size ). I have an old 1966 Riviera model kit ( can't remember if it is a GS or just a Riviera. I'd love to have it done but I simply do not trust myself hahahaha.
Your video of the AMT 1966 Buick Riviera GS kit surprised me; it is so much different from the original version, released circa 1965, and the third car model kit attempted by an eight-year-old me. The original kit featured a promo-style chassis; all the suspension was molded in and the wheels attached to metal axles, fore and aft. The engine had the typical hole to accommodate the front metal axle. The interior was a full tub. Three versions were offered -- stock, concours, and custom. The stock version featured a display base (with indents for the tires) and a chrome plaque plus optional headlights. The concours version included a "leather textured roof cover" that you glued to the top. It ran from the top of the windshield all the way to the back of the trunk lid. A special concours grille insert was also provided, along with huge side-panel trim pieces in chrome. Two custom versions were included, with unique front and rear fascias. While I was a little disappointed that the concours and custom pieces were not included in the latest version of the Riviera GS, the kit offered by AMT now is vastly superior to the original. It appears that the tooling was updated by ERTL around the turn of the century.
I had this kit back in 1966. I don’t remember the separate frame and chassis detail so maybe it was reissued with new parts at some point. Nice to see this one available again.
Absolutely sweet kit! Well detailed just like I like 'em, reminescent of some of the MPC and 90's AMT kits!! The only con (for me) is that my favorite Rivieras are the boat tail ones... Even then, I still think I'll get one, as it as some cool potential as is, or tons of excellent parts as a donor! In all honesty, I thought this kit was going to be more of a Craftsman Plus, curbside style model, but I'm pleasantly surprised!
Nice job well done, I built 2 65 Riv’s both in the colors of the one my dad had , dark metallic green/ saddle tan int. I have mine on display, got the real one also, my dad’s has been missing since his passing. ? Took several weeks to build detailed out .
I've got a picture of me standing in front of a shelf with a Rivera model on it my older brother built,...late 60s... I was probably around 5 or 6 wonder if that was an original release of this kit? (same body style, and his resembled the box art here paint wise)🤔
The original first edition of the kit had B F Goodrich Silvertown tires with separate white plastic whitewall inserts to duplicate the multi stripe. Which were only used in that kit. I'm sure that Round 2 didn't want to pay the royalties for the trademarks so they went cheap and used the same ancient tires they've used since the early 1960's. Sadly.
Hey Chris Happy Birthday to you 🎂🎊🎊 Very nice build these cars has always had a beautiful stance and they float like a boat I may build one along with a another wildcat
it was a tv series called down south that guy that opened it was a new York cop an thear was all so an Canadian mounted police his car was green with a split rear window it was on tv for a long time
The clear disks are the wheels for a bicycle that was in the lowrider version of this kit

Yup ! Lowrider bicycle wheels . If you build lowrider models , then you'll know.
Absolutely gorgeous. My favorite part is watching you apply the decals. It takes patience.
Happy birthday celebrate by building a model I always do

Yes the discs are the wheels of the bicycle from the lowrider release. Happy belated birthday Chris!
This is a very unique color and the stripes do a good job of preventing it from looking too plain.
I like to watch you build the models because i don't have the patience to detail them like you do.

Another beautiful build Chris! And Happy Belated birthday 🎉
Happy Birthday ( belated ) Chris!
Man that is a nice replication of the ‘66 Riviera! Excellent work!
The guy is correct about the bicycle wheels. I looked up the 66 Buick lowrider and sure enough there's a bicycle model with.
Engine paint might depend on which plant it was assembled at. Nice build!!!

You really nailed the color on this Buick! Looking good!
Happy birthday 🎁🎊🎉

Great work as always.
Awesome information.
👍👍👍👍👍
Big like

Nicely done Chris.
Nice build 😎
The last reissue of that kit featured the 1:1 car on the box. I believe it was from the late 90s-early 2000s. I just finished mine a few weeks ago.
Cool build mate👍
Nice job I always loved the Rivs
Looks very nice - thanks for the build.
Awesome job buddy
Sweet build man.......looks like a nice kit

Very KkOoL I have to get my gritty glued hands on one or two. 😀👍🏻👍🏻
👍👍
sweet build as always
AMT put the new tooling of the 66 in the old box the first 66 had a full tub and the old chesses I have one of the original and a new one.
Chris, Very nice build, I always liked these cars. Also Happy belated Birthday!
those clear parts are for a stingray(I believe) bicycle that was in a previous issue--

👇 someone down there beat me to it. It's for a lowrider Schwinn bicycle
Happy birthday buddy

Those disks are wheels for a Schwinn bike that came with a already painted Low Rider version of that car. Bike was painted the same as the car.
They also had a lowrider version that wasn't painted
@@purpurahaze9179 Yeah, but was the bicycle included in that one?
@@chassegallerie2910 Yes it had the lowrider bike too it was a 1999 release the car had pink decals then
Bike tires and rims for a 60s/ 70s bike with high handle bars and banana seat.
Hey Chris Happy Birthday to you 🎂🎊🎊
Very nice build these cars has always had a beautiful stance and they float like a boat I may build one along with a another wildcat
Could they be used for a Super Fly version headlights?
Front disc brake options?
Clear looks like the parts to the lowrider bike
Steering wheel is touching the bench seat. Designed that way?
What is the type of glue that you use and how fast does it dry. Happy Birthday 🎂. Happy modeling from glens falls new York. Art nutting
Chris uses Plastruct Bondene for his non-painted parts.
that's to bad they didn't include the low rider style bike in the kit too, you have the wheels there
Ive got a 1973 Riviera in real life sucks theres no boat tail kits
Repetitive people don't like to read the comments... I guess... You will be told of the wheels a dozen more times.. Ha.!!
Hi there mate it's mit be a bike wheels mate
