Doesn't surprise me. I've heard car magazines grumble about the paint quality on a $60k BMW before. They said it was so awful that it looked like it had been applied with a towel.
GORGEOUS!! I have the MPC 1:16 scale version of this car and if it comes out looking as good as yours I'll be very happy! You can wet-sand with 600 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper and then polish with Meguiars mirror glaze or ultimate polish to make it shiny or rather glossy. Yours looks like glass! This is how gloss should always look. Thank you once again for sharing this with the rest of us.
Wow. Such a wonderful finish without having to resort to automotive lacquers! Makes me want to revisit my old Revell Cobra languishing on my Shelf of Doom
I consider myself as an aircraft modeller, but after seeing this, damn I feel like building a car :) Great work once again, and thank You for sharing these magnificent videos!
Fabulous job, as usual! The work on the finish really paid off! That's what stops me from doing car models, I could not bring myself to color sand the gloss finish, I'd say "done" at that point and totally miss the gorgeous out come that you got with the extra efforts!!
Came out realy good! i like the turntable at the end:P Just to give you a tip, Get a Tamiya Spray stand, it will make your life a lot easier when painting these car bodies.
lovely job David. I actually still have an unopened large Cobra kit that I am hesitant to build, no am not sitting on it for the price to go up! rather awaiting the time to do it justice and a dining room table that "she who must be obeyed" is prepared to lend me for a sufficient amount of time!
I had an opportunity to check one of those out once and no they were never that shiny. Another thing I remember from reading a road test of one was that you had to avoid gravel roads like plague ! The aluminum bodies were prone to "dinging" from the road gravel that was thrown against the wheel wells by the rear tires at speed. Sooooooooooo ...... you really need to put a pattern of little bumps in a spray pattern behind the rear wheels on the "outside" of the body. BUT, you have done an excellent job on building that kit. I must also second the motion to paint the white then mask the strips once it's fully cured.
Thanks, I am still learning how to make the videos. All future videos will have English comments and subtitles. Like in this latest model. ruclips.net/video/3bNivC3VGXo/видео.html
another masterpiece by the Michelangelo of Model-Assembling and Tuning..... but i missed all the details of the work on the other parts of the model. Maybe you can publish a longer version , please.....
Wow! Love your finish. You do it the exact same way as electric guitar bodies (and car bodies of high quality): #2000 wet sanding (you even went 3000!) then with a buffing compound and a buffing wheel to get that glassy, blemish free, super gloss finish. Then hand waxed. Awesome!!!
The shelby's were almost entirely of British parts origin except for the drivetrain. The psycho Carol shelby took a light British car and put a nice American 289 in it. Then later the side oiler. I say psycho because that's how he described what the brits thought of him. I was fortunate to have met him on 3 occasions and he was a heck of a nice guy. The second and third time he remembered me, he and my mom both got their names from the same place. Great model as usual, great to see you do a car.
Nice work! I watched this video a many times, and inspired me! I am not intrested so much for the cars, but this cobra is very nice and I bought the same kit, and now in progress. :) More les i follow your steps. I bought also some gaia colors for it. (metal midle blue for base color).
Hi. I know this video is a bit old now, bur as I am looking for a kit of this car, I have found 2 models. Revell and the one you built. Is this one of good quality, is the fit good (as on a Tamiya kit for example) or does it need much rework? I have experienced a quite bad time with an old Revell car kit. And I am used to Bandai Gunpla kits, which are well designed and molded... If you have any advice for me, to help me out with the brand I should take? Thank you, and thumb up for all your amazing custom works and videos.
sorry the music got better in the end good job i tried do a motorbike before but i failed did not have air brush or using correct glue i need to practice more on painting skills
hi, i follow your work a while ago, its really good and interesting.I try out the civilian cars now, pls tell me the details for the Super Clear varnish spry technic via airbrush. What psi, how to thin the varnish pls.
Hello from Down Under! I have seen the kit contains some chrome parts, how do you deal with them: do you use them as is or remove the home and paint them? I usually don't like chrome parts from kits, any advise?
Very nice result David. Congratulations. Please could you say me with wich thinner do you thin your tamiya paints and your Super Clear III varnish, and the pressure of your compressor? Thank you very much for your videos. It's always a pleasure to see it.
I've watched this video probably close to 20 or 30 times, and I enjoy it now as much as I did the first time
The difference that the Tamiya polishing compound made surprised me. The results are fantastic.
Paintjob is better than on some real high-end cars. Excellent. Keep up the good work.
Doesn't surprise me. I've heard car magazines grumble about the paint quality on a $60k BMW before. They said it was so awful that it looked like it had been applied with a towel.
Truly a spectacular build, the side vent detail was awesome. Keep the videos coming.
The paintjob alone was worth watching till the end. Great video.
The body paint job is superb.

Excellent craftsmanship. Makes me want to try my hand at modeling again. It's only been about 57 years.
I've never seen paint work this perfect. I'm a super FAN!
Your attention to detail is nothing short of incredible! Great work!
I can't get over how perfect that finish is
I consider myself as an aircraft modeller, but after seeing this, damn I feel like building a car :) Great work once again, and thank You for sharing these magnificent videos!
I'm was pretty sure this was an actual Shelby Cobra being made... Then I noticed those gigantic hands doing the assembly. Great work!
Another Beautiful model. Stunning paint finish.
I always thought painting weathered models is hard and painting clean models is easy. Did you ever teach me a lesson...lol...! Chapeau...!!!
Real nice work, David. You are a true craftsman. I also watched the Bismarck build. I was speachless, it was insane!
🤓
Thats pretty much the highest level of scale modeling there is!!! Great going. You should be proud!
What a beautiful job you have done with this model of a very iconic car!!
This will help me immensely with my Revell 289 Cobra! It's only my second model and I hope it's the first I finsh
This model would make Carroll Shelby envious. Great job.
Heads up with regards to the putty, I use a razor blade to apply it. You can get plastic razor blades fairly cheaply from Home Depot or Lowe's
Love all the models. Keep up the great work, blow my mind every time!!
i really appreciate your work and the care you take with the editing and the background music ...
Only just seen this one, absolutely brilliant Mike Harris
You make everything harder than it needs to be but still come out with good results.
I love when you spray the clear coat and make em shine.
That polishing is mesmerizing, who would think that's actually plastic hot damn

Thank you. I learn a lot of stuff from you. Tamiya spray stand looks very good. I've seen it that you use it. Thanks again for your great videos.
PLASMO - plastic models what airbrush nizle do you use?
I use 0,4mm for model cars and 0,15mm for super details like is Post-shading.

Finally! The mother of all sportscars!!
Beautiful work, a lot of love went into this build
Amazing, it looks like a top end die-cast (metal) model. You got skills man.
Hi David, fantastic job! You need to build more and more cars! You are a great modeler...congratulations to you!! Nilton, from Brazil.
Every video I watch there is a new lesson to be learned. Thank you for the instruction friend.

Respect for your courage and skills using power tool for polishing. I would never use it myself as it may easily "bites" in the paint.
The paint color came out incredible. One Hott Cobra.🔥Sanding and polish compound then wax. AWESOME RESULTS. 👍
another masterpiece by the Michelangelo of Model-Assembling and Tuning..... but i missed all the details of the work on the other parts of the model. Maybe you can publish a longer version , please.....

Well done - thank you for sharing your huge talent . Amazing !
This looks amazing! I wish I had the skill and the equipment to do this quality

Excellent work men, I like the way you work the cars, KUTGW
Came out great. Was the door panel lines to wide and thats why you went over them with putty?
End photos could pass for real! Inspiring to say the least!
“How do you turn this on?”

WOW! I love this model, what a job. One thing I would do is lower the stance a bit, it sits a bit high off the tires, like most car kits.
Congratilations...!!! Magnific...!!!
Great polishing work! Cheers!
Awsome job. I really like It. What is the ratę for thinning the super clear lll?
Beautiful! what have you used for polishing? 9:50?
Excellent finish!
Absolutly stunning!!! you have made a wonderful car David, with a very nice colour. How is the fitting of the kit?
