That's so cool you're in San Francisco. The first passenger elevators ever in the U.S. were there at the palace hotel. Remember to see the famous clock at the St. Francis! Enjoy...
Those elevators are not the first passenger elevators in the United States. There might be some rumors about the Palace hotel elevators being the first passenger elevators west of the Mississippi, but I don't know if that is true or not.
Very nice elevators! U know there are glass elevators in the Pacific Tower. They are Otis Compass. 32 stories. They are key carded but if you go up in them, the lowest you can go is 4 to go back up to 31.
excellent three door elevator. basement is called BR. clanking during elevator movement is elevator music. how many floors use the rear door? Ernesto is a very nice man.
Reminds me of the two Otis elevators they have at Intu Broardmarsh Nottingham UK (Installed at the same time the Mall was built in 1972), which have the very same call button controls, and the inside cab is the same (Painted a rather vile Orange). They do however have one rather nasty habit, of when reaching the assigned floor, to just suddenly stop dead, without much of a slow down if any, and over the years have scared a few folks with their antics. There are also 2 glass cab and hydraulic ram operated Elevators in the main part of the mall (Installed in the late 80's), made by Keighley Lift Equipment LTD, which are some what ill tempered at the best of times.
Just to add in the main Bus Station area, there is also a large parking lot on several floors, to which are serviced by 5 elevators (Made by Otis), of two differing types. There are actually a video of the two earlier Otis and the glass Keighley's on Jimwoodward1212's YT page (Search for Otis Lift @ Intu Broadmarsh). Also worth checking his page for Intu Victoria Nottingham (Built by Express), and also this very odd looking tube Elevator (Got a feeling you have covered this one, 'Star Trek' Kone Monospace Lift @ Kamelion in Brussels).
+upanddownadventures I agree. If they get modded with Otis series 7 I will be so mad that I will literally rip out the series 7 panels and replace them with Otis lexan halo.
Did you really call this place a motel??? Far from it my friend. By the way, the other elevator is different. The other service elevators in this building were way cooler than these until modernization, I have a video before the mod.
This is probably one of the collets vintage Otis elevators I have ever seen! I LOVE that 3-speed door!

Very nice vintage elevators! Nice to see such a friendly staff too.
I would say the elevator was pretty interesting because it was two speed outside and three speed inside
I've seen some CA enthusiasts such as NationalElevator and alpalJIL ride these before

Great seeing you in my neck of the woods for a change, Andrew. Nifty three-speed door featured here!

Hi. Nice video. Can you do a video of the passenger lifts, too?
Was wondering if the light on top indicates which side will open on a given floor...
Are you going to do a full hotel tour of this hotel?

You can hear the motor generator.

Really cool elevators!
Please tell me you filmed at least one of the compasses.

+DieselDucy this hotel would have been so much better with ThyssenKrupp as the mods instead of otis
+Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 This hotel got Series 4 Compass Mods, not Series 7.
Floridian Elevators Don't you mean Otis 2.4?
Specialty Elevators and UEE's by Technicalboy3000 That's does NOT EXIST at all!
Great lift.
Still original! Yes! I really hope these elevators have escaped modernization.
i agree. they are very healthy.
+upanddownadventures I agree. If they get modded with Otis series 7 I will be so mad that I will literally rip out the series 7 panels and replace them with Otis lexan halo.
+Uphoisting Experiences by Technicalboy3000 I really hope to film these when I go to San Francisco
Superduper Julien
San Francisco has lots of amazing antique elevators. Do you plan to go to San Francisco?
upanddownadventures In June, yes.
these elevators are ether from the 50's or 60's
three speed door is fun.
They would keep this elevated the same.
I'm from a city nearby San Francisco.
More like 3 piece door, no?
In the elevator industry, it is called a 3 speed door.
upanddownadventures Do you know why?
Did you notice there is a thirteenth floor
+Michael Walters Elevators, Roblox, and More yes :)
A 2 speed door on the outside and a 3 speed on the inside
yep!

I seen them years ago and drooled. I was not aware that there was another building here with glass elevators.
Next time you come to San Francisco, I'll take you around that place!!! With me, you'll experience San Fran the awesome way!!!
WUT. WOW.
Very nice vintage elevators! Nice to see such a friendly staff too.
3 speed door! I'm glad the cooks didn't see you XD
