    "The piece entrenches the inherent repetitive nature and gentleness of lullabies. Drawing inspiration from over 18 source materials-from Berceuses to folk songs-the piece aims to be seemingly static yet changing simultaneously, all within a quiet sound world of whispers and shadows."
    Heather Hindman (b. 1976) is a Canadian composer based 3 hours from the rocky mountains in Edmonton, Canada. She works in both acoustic and mixed-work mediums and draws inspiration from everyday experiences and borrowed sound materials. Her works have been performed in Canada, UK, Europe and New Zealand including the MusiMars New Music Festival, the ISCM World Music Days (Belgium), the Birmingham Frontiers Festival (UK), the Now Hear This festival and have been broadcasted on CBC and Belgian national radio.
    Her work “2 and a Half Miniatures” for solo piano has been performed numerous times in Canada, the US, the UK and New Zealand by notable pianists such as Xenia Pestova and Ian Pace among others. She works primarily in solo and chamber music contexts, with subtle additions of live and pre-recorded electronics. Ms. Hindman’s artistic endeavours have been supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology, the Edmonton Arts Council, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Socan Foundation. Ms. Hindman completed a Master of Music in composition at McGill University with Brian Cherney and currently balances work as a private piano and theory instructor with composing and motherhood.
