From the looks of it, it's from outside the city. The soldiers are the invading force and the dragon is opening the wall so they can spill through. If you look at the top right hand corner you can see buildings in the background, additionally the lack of a gate (where most of the defending forces would be located) seems to support this view.
The Kid worked the Rippling Walls most of his life. Even helped in some of the skirmishes with Ura raiders. He knew what kind of things to expect when the bells started ringing, but dragons weren't one of 'em.
@DammalSC The flags on the castle are red, the soldiers flags are red. The soldiers could have tried to drag the dragons away from the city by moving out. If the dragon was guarding it probably wasn't a good idea to break the wall.

I see a flood of blood coming for the soldiers, around the wall where the Dragon is breaking in. I do not know if that is, but I think they are going to drown.
Keep in mind this was 4 months ago. That joke wasn't overused till about 3 months ago then after 2 months from now everyone drop it... people have stopped making that joke so it wouldn't even be overused right now. Hypocrite can also mean telling someone to do something that you should do (Shutting up). Keep in mind 22 people your only 1. Shut up has been used more than that joke. In all means your move was MUCH more cliche than mine. Though I called hypocrite on that. I used it in a better way.
