    I have the 240w power brick for my 2017 Alienware 17 R4. It is very compact. The venting is not ugly to me. Also my fans do not run loud at all. In fact my thermals after playing BF 1 for 4 hours never broke 75c. Also, I am actually using an old 17" Toshiba bag I have to carry mine around and it fits nicely.
    I have had my 17 R4 since June 2017 (I7-7820/1080/16 GB RAM/128GB SSD/1 TB HD) and use this for both work and play. In fact running Visual Studio/SQL Server etc runs like a dream. It runs everything I have thrown at it.

    This dude is not even reviewing the laptop. He is just complaining the entire time about nonsense. Someone replace this guy hes horrible! The Asus is a 15 inch laptop, you are reviewing a 17 inch laptop why are you comparing the two.

      Harry Mamangakis I don't get why people are so obsessed with super thin overheating laptops. I like how it's thicker and has full power it's not that huge.

      I agree very biased , would think to mention if he would have gotten the 13in or 15in one probably would have had a better experience especially with travel, even the Alienware site states wouldn’t recommend for frequent travel, I love mine 👍🏻

    It doesn't seem like you even used this laptop... who the hell would use a 17" laptop on the plane... I think you are comparing this as a travelers machine vs for what it is.
    It's also a tn panel not ips 120hz

    I just picked up the Alienware 17 R5 and it's amazing so far. It is large, its a desktop replacement for me. My Surface Book 2 is my carry device. Don't care about the size of the power brick or the crazy RGB lighting...it's not going to leave my house. Does it perform as expected, that's a resounding YES! Seems like a slightly biased review.

    Here's an idea, how about reviewing this or any other laptop for its intended purpose. "If you open this on a plane...", seriously? While this isn't the laptop for me, you could've at least given it a fair review. For the first half of the video you basically just whined about it not being something other than what it is.

  • @Jun1t0
    @Jun1t0 7 лет назад +2

    Man....
    Did someone force him to do this review?
    Or is this someone reading all the negative forum comments he found of the laptop & reading them as if its his opinion?
    He spent 80% of the video saying negative stuff about the laptop, said good things for 10 seconds at the end & gave it a 4\5. Makes no sense.

  • @johnnyvcrow
    @johnnyvcrow 7 лет назад +1

    What is it with people complaining about 10 lbs. LOL... A little physical fitness is good for you. Seriously though, the reviewer trend I've noticed is that skinny people complain about the size but the more built reviewers say it's not too bad. So what I'm hearing is that this laptop could help you live longer AND make you buff! :)

  • @tucamote85

    It is really not heavy and it will not hurt your back if you carry it in your backpack. I walked to campus with this alienware and added a 13 inch macbook(2011) pro with both power supplies. No problems.

  • @grandemage
    @grandemage 7 лет назад +6

    I'm not going to say Alienware (Dell) is great, they're overpriced mediocrity compared to other brands, but this video had a lot of nit picking of "day to day use" when this 17" (Gaming) laptop is meant to give you near full pc performance in a portable laptop package. If you want "day to day" portability and long batter life, stick to a thin, light 15" or lower laptop, these types of laptops are meant for gaming to carry higher level video cards/cpu's that require proper cooling and of course the 17" (or larger) screen will eat up desk space and battery life lol.

  • @jimiseverus

    The laptop isn't ugly, that's your reflection lol

  • @NanDeSuKa84
    @NanDeSuKa84 6 лет назад +2

    It seems that you are reviewing a 17" gaming laptop in a 10" ultraportable netbook perspective? That 17" Alienware R4 has a lot more room to dissipate heat, and make less fan noise when compare to other "more compact", "less gigantic" 17" gaming laptops. You don't even know that? My God! TT The world is going to end. TT

    My old alienware rocks..... You can update older ones too.... I have an R3 with the i-7 6820 HK XTU voltage overclocked at 4.0 Ghz with (2 evo) 970 MVME 512gb in Raid-0 and a Samsung 960 Pro 2 TB hard drive.... 3840x2160 4k and GTX 980M video card ...... It plays any new game on 1080p ultra at 75 fps and in 4k 55-60 fps..... The refresh rate is 45 and 60 mhz so 40-60 fps is enough to make a game run smooth on the screen ..... The laptop is a 2016 model and it rocks..... Amazingly built and fast as hell ! It does sound like I have an F16 idling in my office when playing games .... Ha .... Thanks for the video......

  • @fatbrownbuffalo7027
    @fatbrownbuffalo7027 7 лет назад

    Why the fuck would somebody expect an airplane's passenger power supply to fuel a gaming experience? The fat 17" AW models are pretty much marketed as desktop replacements. Because ... they are. It's around the same bulk/weight as ASUS's 2012 RoG gaming laptops. Going thinner for gaming laptops wasn't a good or a bad idea...they both have their advantages. Fatter/bulkier models like this one minimize the heat output...so you know, your wrists don't get uncomfortable from constantly resting on a hot surface.
    I think you were very unfair to the AW model.

    What the reviewer fails to understand is that this is a gaming laptop and would be most likely be taken to gaming events or LAN parties - it is a high-end gaming laptop, not a standard work laptop where connectivity would be addressed differently.
    I would not want the power connector at the side whilst gaming, I would want it at the back out the way of other cables - Alienware know this, hence the positioning of the port.
    Yet another poor product review on YT with little thought gone into it before posting.

My only criticism to this video is I wish it would've been easier to find. You should include some tags like "Alienware vs Asus Zephyrus" or something along those lines, as I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation. Good video, though.

    Horrible review....
    No discussion about WHY the hinge forward design was used, or about the massive cooling benefits. How the A17R4 has some of the lowest temps in a 17" laptop? Yeah it's ugly but it also serves a purpose.
    No mention of the 7820hk CPU in there which is also why the hinge forward design is useful.
    Absolutely no benchmarks or temperature reviews, which is what pretty much anyone is going to come here to look into.
    This is by far the most useless "review" I have ever seen.

    its closer to 10lbs than it is 7lbs or 8lbs. This is made to be a semi protable desktop for the most part. Why are you acting like its supposed to be an everyday carry around laptop? Its also a TN panel, so you probably should check your facts before you post a video, and review it for what its supposed to do and be used as.
