The placemat made a lovely cover! I think once you sew around it you won't need to worry about fraying too much, especially if you do a zig zag stitch there.
In a video yesterday, Jessica said watercolors are "a tool." You could dye the lace in a strong mix of water and watercolor. I do that all the time with trims. And all the Tim Holtz inks smeared on glass and spritz make an excellent dye for lace/trims. 😉
@@debhouckscraftycottage9288 You're welcome. Since I did a lot of from-scratch crafting on my DT JJ, I figured dropping some fixes for others would help them out!
Ahhhh I picked the same placemat for my cover, then changed my mind when I started. Cant wait to see what you come up with. And yes, try to avoid the house fires!!!
You're the 3rd one that picked the placemat, but so far I'm the only one that used it. lol Next video is the finished journal. :) Thanks so much for watching!
That's lovely so far, Deb! I don't do journals, but the man I watch in UK, Ceri Griffiths, always used his Pritt Glue Stick for his work; says it holds great . Pritt is the brand name & may only be available "across the pond", I don't know... I've never seen it.
The glue also shows through my junk journal, and I really dont know how to make it not show (ive tried different kind of glues)... If you find what a way, please do tell me! I think you are doing amazing, I wouldnt tell you are a beginner at all.
@@PaperTerrace No, I didn't find a way. The fabric glue is the one that showed, but the Tombow mono glue doesn't seem to be doing as bad. Still, my solution was just put something over it where it showed through (which I'm still working on). I'm not a beginner paper crafter, but I haven't made junk journals in the past. Thank you for watching!
Your cover is beautiful!! ❤️ Do you have fraycheck? I think thats what it's called. I got mine at Walmart, i think its at hobby lobby and joanns too. You could use that or a bit of slightly watered down clear glue to control the frayed edges.
Gorgeous!!
Thank you. There is a final walk-through video too.😃
I love the yellow and blue, very pretty.
Oh how cool. Love this !!! 😊
Thank you!
Very pretty!
Thank you! 😊
Great cover !
Thank You!
This is such fun seeing everyone’s progress with their journals! Thanks Deb for sharing. 😊Bexx
coming along nicely. Love the stenciled paper!
Thank you.

Thank you. I did do a zig zag stitch earlier today. I'll show when I get the journal all finished.
Another idea- a yellow/gold/ or blue belly band around the journal to hide the ribbon line? Then you can switch out cover decor as you like! 😊

Thank you so much! I may just try dying the lace!

Ohhhh great idea!!!!
@@I_Am_Crafty_Mimi It worked, but it dyed my fingers pretty well too. Suggest wearing gloves if you do the same. lol
I just bleach my fingers if I forget the gloves.

Maybe glue dots or strips?
Maybe. Thank you!

Thank you. Never heard of fraycheck before, but next time I'm out and about I'll look for it.
