    The problem is that in the PNW where these roof were common in the 80s and 90s most styles are no longer being made. So don’t break them! You have a bitch of a time finding matching replacements, if at all.

    I just got the concrete tile roof 18 months, íts actually better than shingles in term of better temperature control!
    I almost regretted in seconds that the tile is little too fragile but turned out it needs to follow if needed to walk on the tile roof!
    Learned it by breaking one and glued back by OSI RT600 - thank you for the video "walking tiles" , appreciated it!

      LoL, I did a little better than you "walking on tile roof" by breaking a corner of the tile in the flash section. I ended up got the OSI RT600 from homedepot, "walk the tiles" again by this method - oh yeah didn't break anything more and glued it back. 1 day was dried and today was raining tested it actually worked!
      I would avoid of walking on the roof again!

      Even walking on the horizontal overlap, he still isn’t avoiding the vertical thin seam. I mean you would have to have pretty small feet to avoid it or tip toe around the roof!!

    My red tile roof is 35 years old & most of it is still good but unfortunately there's one area that has leaked into ceiling & leaking down the wall & not sure where on roof the hole is at, so we will be contacting a service for it. These days the price of roof tile is a lot more than 35 years ago, mid 1980's, so it would be financially difficult to reshingle entire roof with new tile, for a 4000 square foot house.

    Helpful. I cracked a tile today, bc I got careless. Stepped on the middle vertically, it cracked into a top half and a lower half. I got complacent and stepped too close to the center of the tile. Thanks.

    I weigh about 260 lbs. If I walk in the manner you instructed on this video will the tile be safe? Or am I too heavy to walk on it even doing it the way you showed us?

    • @FrontRangeStormContractors
      @FrontRangeStormContractors  3 года назад +2

      Good question. At that weight, I'd definitely stay away from the center of the tile, but you will be fine the way I demonstrate as long as it's not a "lightweight" tile. I've broken lightweight tile at 175 walking carefully.

      Something I know helps when walking on roofs is a load spreader, like a a 1x10 (thick enough, light enough) plank. This plank distributes your weight around the surrounding tiles instead of concentrating it on 1 or 2 tiles. You put up a few of such planks on the roof and place them in the different areas on the roof they want to walk on. Really helps.
      EDIT: This will not work for a roof with a very high pitch as the plank will usually want to slide down.

    • @FrontRangeStormContractors
      @FrontRangeStormContractors  6 лет назад

      Hi Will, you can step in the same basic area--the lower 1/3 of the tile where it is supported underneath by the shingle below it. Just be careful not to turn your ankle on the uneven surface!

      You should be able to walk anywhere on a correctly laid roof, main problem is small bits of debris in the channels and roofs fitted with clips and laid too tight. I am 90kg and have walked miles over tiled roofs with no damage.
