    For the first time in 30+ years a train ventured onto the former Revere, Copper, & Brass spur in New Bedford, MA. This first train was a test train of the locomotives ahead of the train that will deliver the first railcars when they come in. The siding has been rebuilt for use by "Shoreline Resources" who is building a shipyard at the former Revere Industries site. In this video we see Mass Coastal MC-4 creeping onto and off of the siding directed by Mass Coastal personnel. Stay tuned for more footage of this siding in revenue service.

    This is history and then making for sure the newly restored industry siding has seen the first train in 30 years glad to see that it’s gonna be put back to use

    This is a very pleasant video. A child on a bike crosses at 2:26; railfans mill about at 3:02.
    To see service restored to this siding is excellent.

    This is great to see. It's so cool seeing rail reactivated like this. I am specially anxious to see what happens at the southern end of line where a new rail line has been suggested.

    I'm surprised they didn't rip up the track after all that time. It seems like nowadays if the track doesn't get used after 10 years they turn it into a bike trail lol

      Fortunately this was a short spur that wasn’t in the way of anything so it survived. A section of it was buried under landscaping though but they were smart enough not to remove it.

    The streets around the rails were in rough condition, too. I wish I had taken a test drive around the area, like the railroaders used the locomotives. I wanted to find out if my wife was ticklish so I gave her a coupe of test tickles

      It's a spur track/siding, good luck with that, to expensive for the city/town to put up signals, more likely just crossbucks(as was probably there before).

    First train in 30 years AND their first DARWIN AWARD WINNER right off the bat. 2 firsts in one. Guess the guy in the car at the end of the video was to special to wait for the engine to cross, after all of course the engines could easily stop and wait for the tin hat driver right?

    Just for the halibut, I searched to see what kind of cars would this siding be used for. I found the plans that showed a single tank car spotted at the end of the track next to "fuel blending tanks". I also just read your post about steel cars so I guess this will have multiple uses which is great.

    • @SouthCoastRailVideos

      Can you send the link to the plans? The ones I saw lacked a tank car so what you found is pretty cool!

    How did the people that restored the track restore it? did the construction workers go through the pavement in the yard to dig/ grind it to get to the rails and the tie’s?

    • @SouthCoastRailVideos
      @SouthCoastRailVideos  2 года назад +2

      Everything was removed then completely replaced. I don’t think was much grinding but rather a lot of digging up since everything was going in new.
