The only beef a segment of black society has with Roland is that he rarely prioritizes black issues ONLY. It’s always “Black and Latino”, “Black and LGBT”, “Black and Immigrants” etc. No other group fights for own causes and then includes us also. In fact, many of those groups actively work against our interests.
It's simple. If this is really a war, you can't win it without allies and being on the same page. Gaining allies and winning other groups over to our side goes a long way. I can't think of any war in human history where an underdog won without allies

@Vapor Fogg Receptionist Because too many of them believe they can buy whiteness and be rewarded for it - after all it worked for the Italians and Irish. They often never learn until it's too late and then they come looking for alliances. Not all are clueless though. You just don't hear about them in the media for the obvious reasons.
There’s black Latinos there’s black immigrants and black lgbtq people. He’s always advocating for all things black.
Majority of black Americans are watching CNN MSNBC we are not watching black media in the same numbers. We don’t have a clue as to what’s going on. The first thing we need to do is give our people some civic classes because for some reason they will not show up for local elections the same way they show up for presidential elections. They honestly think that the president can do everything for them not realizing that what they need is at the local level.
What people have also allowed these white folks to take over the school boards. I don’t understand how Black people sit still with what’s going on in the state in regards to education.

I have to admit that I had a unreasonable personal animosity towards Roland Martin based upon what I heard from podcasts from TBA and Professor Black Truth who have constantly ridiculed him because they think he is part of the old dying black media that is on its way out. I misjudged Roland because of what I heard from them. Is Roland worth listening to! Yes! He brings to the table facts, statistical analysis and data and other pertinent information that many are totally unaware of. He has enlightened me. Keep up the good work and push forward in the face of others who look like you who desperately try to undermine you.
That's one hell of an admission. The ability to consistently evaluate one's own position is rarely exercised these days.

My sister has lived in Texas for 12 years. They made her get new id and she did not get her registration card until 2022 she applied in 2019. Her son passed out in the heat waiting in line to get registered. He still is no registered. Texas republicans win because of voter suppression

I must say every time I listen to Roland Martin, I'm enlightened he's intellect. I like the way he speaks. I don't buy TIMBERLANDS, never have because of the crap they were saying in the late 90 about black people and the Timberland boot. So yes it's important to take a stand and stop buying from and investing in things that don't align with the black and brown people as well as the community at large.

Best critique I've heard on the sale of BET to Viacom and more Black-owned companies need to understand this. Don't let the buyers undervalue your company. You can sell a share of your company to gain mainstream appeal, but retain the controlling interest. Win-win.

Yet, we are hated; an outlet for the world's rage.
