For bison, some lab rats did some testing and found that bison is effectively closer during the recovery frames, but only by a very small amount. The difference is now that when it is punishable you can often get a better combo since you dont need as much range after the punish, and it is easier to take the turn back with 6-8 frame normals if you dont want to go for the punish since the change only affects his recobery frames
And that's the issue. Terry is not Kyo or Iori. You SF guys are thinking in terms of SF. Terry is Fatal Fury. Not a fireball/dp based game. Hence his normal FB is not a tool to be used like the other Shotos. But its whatever

Ken has a stronger HK than akuma for the fact that it doesn't whiff on crouching and it causes a juggle state on punish. Akuma and ken are godlike in the corner but for neutral i think ken slightly does better. But overall i think akuma is slightly better character based on ease of use and damage output
M. Bison scissor kicks change is a direct nerf, it can still be punished/be made safe at the exact same ranges; but if you can punish your combos afterwards are much more consistent because you're left much closer to Bison. Before Akuma would need to cancel lk to medium tatsu after punishing the l/m scissor kicks since the light tatsu would whiff, but right now if lk hits you can always combo into light tatsu.

So it's a buff because the max range punish is no longer punishable and the supposed "guaranteed" link into light tatsu at a closer range was always still there since the beginning. I main both characters and my training partner plays Bison so I do a lot of labbing.

Chun’s Neutral vs Rashid makes it very hard to contest, plus she also has hazanshu that can go through Rashid’s fireballs for good damage! It’s not a 6-4 match up by any means, but it’s slightly Chun adv
@SrNinjaKorodaiPoop a lot of rashids moves are really stubby and short range so you can out range him quite well, rashid requires quite strict execution and does far less damage for each interaction he wins, so in the zangief matchup if the gief is patient he only has to one a small amount of interactions to win. Also gief is one of the few characters who has a way to get around rashid level2, if you react quick enough you can do your level 2 right after rashid does his and since i believe it is projectile immune you can avoid getting hit by it. (i might be wrong here but im pretty sure thats the case). Watch itzabanzangief play against gachikun if you need tips on how to play the matchup.

Tried to learn a lot of characters from SFV but only started being able to play well with Gief in SF6. Still don't understand well what is strong and what is weak in each character so for me it always ends up being a matter of "which move can I grab?" And that can only take you so far. I'm in plat rn but been trying to learn it more to try and rank up from that, so comments like yours do help a lot!
pretty sure it’s a lot about the normals, haven’t played that much but playing Rashid vs Gief feels like you can’t poke him without being constantly at gief’s range. If I’m not mistaken Big Bird once said that Rashid’s main tool in neutral is to just back off and throw charged fireballs, most likely bc of this

You can use the jab + stance + medium kick to combo when he tries to pressure with the special move follow up that rashid goes into the air with differents follow ups.
Maybe the air to air + lvl1 when rashid double jumps But i dont know if these are things other characters can do too or better. And they are not easy to execute.

I think Terry is going to end up beating JP. He can't use EX Amnesia on wake-up vs Terry because of meaty Round Wave, and I think Terry can Burn Knuckle past the ghosts for a free knockdown.
Sure, you can OD amnesia any time, the problem becomes allowing the terry player more leeway for baiting it out, rather than having to make that initial guess on the JP's wakeup. Not to mention it does still just lose to fireballs unlike a normal DP. Terry also has fantastic rushdown to bypass his zoning. I don't think it's as bad a matchup as say Bison, but from my experience thusfar it doesn't feel great. That being said I play in the 1600-1700 range, and not Legend, so take that as you will.

IIDK if you're going to read this but let's analyze the following, Bison is an extremely strong character, I admit I have him in my Top 8, but at the end of the day he has weaknesses and can't be used alone, so let's think about characters like Rashid or Akuma, that ok maybe they also have some fairly bad matches but not at the level of Bison, and they dont have such obvious weaknesses, in the end them are stronger in general, so you make the argument that Bison is very easy and can be used as a pocket, but Suppose a difficult character takes 1 year to learn and Bison takes 1 month, and suppose the year passes, would you seriously nerf Bison to be even weaker than Rashid? Even when after a year passes everyone will know the matchup and still BIson will have weaknesses and be even weaker? Ok Rashid is more difficult and cannot be used as easily as extra but after a while it will not matter because whoever wants to dominate him would do it with both (Rashid or Bison), and Bison would continue to be even weaker, and people who wanted to master him would only spend even more work than before since it would be weaker,

Ken is top 10 maybe, but no longer top 5. Not as strong as people think he is now. You saw how his usage dropped a bit and hasn’t won tournaments since his S2 slight nerf and Akuma and Bisom came out, Ken’s were done. So he’s outside of top 5.
@@frankiep5751every periferic has his pros and cons. Even hitbox has cons (crouching dp, ring finger weak side, etc...). Just play the more comfortable one for you.

Prior to S2 the top 3 characters in the game were base roster so that isn't entirely fair to say. They also buffed a lot of base roster characters in the Terry patch so JP, Luke and DeeJay are kinda on the rise again
Coming from KoF. I genuinely wonder why people keep talking about characters' tier so much. This char is good, that char is bad. Please buff A, nerf B. Is this exclusive to SF6 or what? Yes there's tier list in kof too. But any low tier char in kof can go against high tier because of high pace, a lot of movement & jump option, and it's a team game. So there's no bad matchup like in SF.
Match ups are really the issue. So typically the best characters have the fewest bad matchups. But tier list talk isn’t exclusive to SF. Marvel and Tekken have had dissertations written about their tier lists.

I see people in comments saying this from time to time but just about every pro i've seen speak on the subject seems to disagree, some even placing Cammy higher in the top 3.
bruh this isnt downplay lol. Ken isnt Top 5. He just doesnt have the tools that the other current Top 5 characters have. Rashid has SA2. Bison has insane pressure and dmg on bomb and is a character that can just take rounds off you way too god damn fast. Akuma has insane tools the way that he has everything and more and the tools that he possesses that everyone has he just does better. He has a fireball BUT he has the best fireball in the game (maybe tied with Guile) BUT he also has Air Fireball. He has a cmd Grab that is a viable mixup tool paired with his fireball, he has good neutral buttons, explosive dmg, viable invincible SAs on wake up etc. Ed has insane mid range spacing control with his buttons and lash. He also just forces you to guess every single time he gets that charged lash. Do you parry? He can bait it by holding the charge. Jump. He can hit you high. Drive Rush he can hit you out of it. You block you get thrown into a strike throw mixup. Ed's SA2 combo is also insane with its corner carry and meter building. What tools does Ken have that can rival any of these characters? Cammy has divekick which is just a strong tool in neutral, she has insane neutral buttons and her cr.MP is an insane whiff punish button which can lead to big combos on hit confirms. She has OD DP that gets her out of the corner which is unique to her only in the current roster. Ken has insane corner carry but these other characters also have good corner carry. His fireball is the weakest out of all the shotos. Dragon lash can be consistently parried and cant be a reliable tool for neutral skips at high lvl thats why you never see people use it. I personally can parry basically 8/10 dragon lashes on a good day and I aint shit. Pros definintely can do it more consistently than I can. Ken's damage is also quite average compared to the other Top 5 characters where Bison has combos that do close to 8K and Akuma as well hitting the 7K threshold. Jinrai is a good high low throw mixup but it is quite easy to defend against when you can get the fuzzy block timing right (i cant do it that consistently yet but pros definitely can). What does Ken have that is better than any of these characters? Nothing really that I can think of. Ken is def Top 10 but I dont think he is close to Top 5

We know that she was intentionally made bad on defence coming into the game because of how her offence works with the delayed bombs, they basically gave Bison the same treatment. He just has far higher damage, safer blockstring enders, a cancellable cr mk and doesn't have his offence linked to a resource like she does. They're seeing how far they can push a characters offence, kind of like what they did with the geif buffs to every button at the start of season 2, but leaving his anti air in such a pathetic state.

Maybe it's different at higher levels but I found the heavy burn knuckle is pretty good at getting in on JP's fireballs.

I think Terry is going to end up beating JP. He can't use EX Amnesia on wake-up vs Terry because of meaty Round Wave, and I think Terry can Burn Knuckle past the ghosts for a free knockdown.

Sure, you can OD amnesia any time, the problem becomes allowing the terry player more leeway for baiting it out, rather than having to make that initial guess on the JP's wakeup. Not to mention it does still just lose to fireballs unlike a normal DP. Terry also has fantastic rushdown to bypass his zoning. I don't think it's as bad a matchup as say Bison, but from my experience thusfar it doesn't feel great. That being said I play in the 1600-1700 range, and not Legend, so take that as you will.
Does heavy round wave counts as projectile? Iirc you can get a perfect parry on it like a non projectile move with that screen freeze effect.

IIDK if you're going to read this but let's analyze the following, Bison is an extremely strong character, I admit I have him in my Top 8, but at the end of the day he has weaknesses and can't be used alone, so let's think about characters like Rashid or Akuma, that ok maybe they also have some fairly bad matches but not at the level of Bison, and they dont have such obvious weaknesses, in the end them are stronger in general, so you make the argument that Bison is very easy and can be used as a pocket, but Suppose a difficult character takes 1 year to learn and Bison takes 1 month, and suppose the year passes, would you seriously nerf Bison to be even weaker than Rashid? Even when after a year passes everyone will know the matchup and still BIson will have weaknesses and be even weaker? Ok Rashid is more difficult and cannot be used as easily as extra but after a while it will not matter because whoever wants to dominate him would do it with both (Rashid or Bison), and Bison would continue to be even weaker, and people who wanted to master him would only spend even more work than before since it would be weaker,

Ken is top 10 maybe, but no longer top 5. Not as strong as people think he is now. You saw how his usage dropped a bit and hasn’t won tournaments since his S2 slight nerf and Akuma and Bisom came out, Ken’s were done. So he’s outside of top 5.

Prior to S2 the top 3 characters in the game were base roster so that isn't entirely fair to say. They also buffed a lot of base roster characters in the Terry patch so JP, Luke and DeeJay are kinda on the rise again

Coming from KoF. I genuinely wonder why people keep talking about characters' tier so much. This char is good, that char is bad. Please buff A, nerf B. Is this exclusive to SF6 or what?
Yes there's tier list in kof too. But any low tier char in kof can go against high tier because of high pace, a lot of movement & jump option, and it's a team game. So there's no bad matchup like in SF.
Match ups are really the issue. So typically the best characters have the fewest bad matchups. But tier list talk isn’t exclusive to SF. Marvel and Tekken have had dissertations written about their tier lists.

Bison has insane pressure and dmg on bomb and is a character that can just take rounds off you way too god damn fast.
Akuma has insane tools the way that he has everything and more and the tools that he possesses that everyone has he just does better. He has a fireball BUT he has the best fireball in the game (maybe tied with Guile) BUT he also has Air Fireball. He has a cmd Grab that is a viable mixup tool paired with his fireball, he has good neutral buttons, explosive dmg, viable invincible SAs on wake up etc.
Ed has insane mid range spacing control with his buttons and lash. He also just forces you to guess every single time he gets that charged lash. Do you parry? He can bait it by holding the charge. Jump. He can hit you high. Drive Rush he can hit you out of it. You block you get thrown into a strike throw mixup. Ed's SA2 combo is also insane with its corner carry and meter building. What tools does Ken have that can rival any of these characters?
Cammy has divekick which is just a strong tool in neutral, she has insane neutral buttons and her cr.MP is an insane whiff punish button which can lead to big combos on hit confirms. She has OD DP that gets her out of the corner which is unique to her only in the current roster.
Ken has insane corner carry but these other characters also have good corner carry. His fireball is the weakest out of all the shotos. Dragon lash can be consistently parried and cant be a reliable tool for neutral skips at high lvl thats why you never see people use it. I personally can parry basically 8/10 dragon lashes on a good day and I aint shit. Pros definintely can do it more consistently than I can. Ken's damage is also quite average compared to the other Top 5 characters where Bison has combos that do close to 8K and Akuma as well hitting the 7K threshold. Jinrai is a good high low throw mixup but it is quite easy to defend against when you can get the fuzzy block timing right (i cant do it that consistently yet but pros definitely can). What does Ken have that is better than any of these characters? Nothing really that I can think of. Ken is def Top 10 but I dont think he is close to Top 5

We know that she was intentionally made bad on defence coming into the game because of how her offence works with the delayed bombs, they basically gave Bison the same treatment. He just has far higher damage, safer blockstring enders, a cancellable cr mk and doesn't have his offence linked to a resource like she does. They're seeing how far they can push a characters offence, kind of like what they did with the geif buffs to every button at the start of season 2, but leaving his anti air in such a pathetic state.
