The lake east of Kollegal built during British rule for irrigation & flood control of Gindal river. Name of the Lake (kere) is Chilka Ranganatha kere. Some persons named it Google maps as Joshua lake. After objections Google maps re introduced the original name in the Maps.
Ace dancer Prabhu deva did a shooting there. Back in doordarshan black and white Tv days, we used to hear about “Erapa”(Veerapan). Our elders used to tell tales about Erapa and he is around kollegal jungle. Our elders used to tell tales about “Erapa” like how he hoodwinked policemen by disguising himself as an old man and sitting next to policemen in cinema hall!

It is Tibetan, not Tibetian. Whenever i see the misspelling, i know that it is an Indian writing. Do you know that odeyarpalya is called mini switzerland by the Tibetans who settle there?! It is true! I am from Bylakuppe and went to odeyarpalya Tibetan settlement when i was in pre-teens. But i can't remember anything special about that place. It was very hot when i was travelling there. When i was a child, my friend from oderyapalya Tibetan settlement used to say that water there comes from mountain in tastes sweet and tasty. tibetans don't say or use the word "odeyerpalya". This say only kollegal, for e.g. "i am from kollegal'.
