Okay she is underrated I agree but her name, and her voice...has ALWAYS been around. Go to any Bengali Durga Puja function or any Indian wedding across North India and her catchy hits like Hari Om Hari or Koi Yahaan Nache Nache are still played repeatedly and people groove to them in full vigour. Usha Uthup was always considered India's first rockstar..... She didn't become famous because she wasn't cut out for film music...but the few hits she had, she achieved longevity and legend status from those alone.

ive met usha patel in bombay airport in 2003 and since I broke the line and went forward towards my mom in a panic. this lady standing behind my mom she taps on my shoulder and says naughty boy since I broke the huge line me being a ten year old she didn't have her makeup on but the bindi she wore. my mom told me that's usha patel from tv and I dint recognize her till I came back home
