The sad part is bollywood wouldn't accept the dark complexion even today.
Rani Mukherjee
Kajol
Deepika Padukone
Priyanka Chopra
Rani mukherjee, kajol, deepika, priyanka
They have all been forced to get fairness treatments and use camera filters that make them look fair
I dont understand how she is dark at all. She looks light skin to me.
@@ratherish534 I think as time went by, she started to bleach her skin.
Kajol is from producers family, with background....
She deserved a movie about her story and the toxicity of the industry more than Sanjay
Even I think so
Is india ready for this since the misogny is still Rock hard there?
@@akirashock-land let's hope
Bollywood only cover a biography of a woman until she was a prostitute or sold her body or bold ( Dirty pictures, biography of sunny Leone gangubai) , they only think that's the struggle, they ignore mental struggle of Praveen babi, Rekha, Meenakumari etc.
Who would Mr.Bachan though, Sonu Sood?
So much suffering she had faced. But yet today she stands with a dignity. She has got a beautiful heart & I have always seen her smiling face. Long live Rekhaji. God bless you.
The fact that she was called the ugly duckling really took me by surprise as growing up I always thought she was one of the most beautiful actresses in the industry, I still think that! My mother was named after her cuz all of my family loves her, I always viewed her as someone I can look up to and admire, she always gives off such strong women, elegant and royal vibes, she is like a queen. Seeing this really made me shook that she has gone thru so much and is still standing strong! My admiration for her just grew 10000x more. I am glad to have growing up looking upto such a beautiful, strong wonderful women. Words are not enough to describe!!
More dark skin actresses were launched during 1960-2000 Yet now In 2020 when we are more modern I don’t remember any new dark skin actress that was launched
Now the trend is to import foreign actresses without talent. Bollywood has come a long way
sweetcelien IKR. Nargis Fakhri, Sunny Leone, they cant act nor talk. They don’t even look like actors, nor do they have the vibes. They’re just candy for the eye. Bollywood is becoming a “knockoff version of Hollywood”
@@user-sj1 exactly...you can't cry black lives matter when you want white faces. To me the industry in the last 2 decades is basically actresses clone each other. No character or charm. Just plastic with attitude
Amerdeep Kaur exact facts! But I still think the 90s still had more dark skin new comers than now. Such as Rani and Kajol! But now all I see in the industry are Nargis, Sunny, and Ananya like wtf. They can’t act
Deepika was.... but isn’t anymore
Ugly duckling is such a joke...
Bollywood likes to call everybody ugly, with a brown skin and curvy figure..
But the ones which look pale and anorexic are super fit and glamorous.
Yeah, like most Indians are brown, curvy, and beautiful...does that mean Bollywood thinks most Indians are ugly? Yikes. Not surprising tho ://
i have had eating disorder in the past and calling thin people anorexic is bodyshaming too. stop being a hypocrite
@@sarvottmasanghmitra1084 exactly. especially to those with atypical anorexia!!!
@@anonymouse7773 different shades of brown most Indians on average have light brown skin . But there are fair skinned Indians too in all regions of India not only in north . It all goes down to genetic diversity within India and it’s racial diversity.
@@rockstar14721 Okay but there a plenty of dark-skinned Indians too, like PLENTY of them and it's so obvious that they're treated lesser, you can't deny that. To act like dark ppl in India don't exist or that they only make up a small percent of the population is not solving the issue and is also delusional. Also yes there is a lot of genetic diversity in India, but that doesn't take away from the fact that a large portion of the population is dark-skinned. Also if one is from a poorer population, they probably spend more time in the sun (whether it's farming or working in open markets, even doing housework) and they may not have access to sunscreen or fancy skin care products, so obviously they're also going to be darker. And they are mistreated and underrepresented also, on basis of both class and skin color.

Oh come on...she is a one of the most beautiful woman in the world ...💕😍

Never knew she had a hard life. Sad to know
@Memcha Laishram and the most sad thing is, the husband had apparently kept his diagnosis and visits to psychiatrists a secret when they were dating and even after marriage, and shared nothing about his mental disorder. He was very temperamental and almost bipolar and while rekha had left for America seeing him happy and very lively after a few days he committed suicide and the Bollywood industry, and even the family of the husband blamed rekha...
Bollywood is full of such people who had poor and miserable lives
It's scary how people blame the "boyfriend/girlfriend. Husband/wife"
For the opposites suicide...

What about ssr?

@@cattousingphone2101 So, ek kare toh raas leela dusra toh character dheela? It’s funny that people didn’t say Sushant is sleeping with Farah when he was clicked hugging her but Rhea is characterless for the same thing. Hypocrisy at its finest, even after decades people are the same. Shame

Had she stepped her foot in Hollywood, she would have been one of the highest paid artist!

I don't think so. Your oh so great Hollywood has racism too. People are judged there too. And the fact of her being an Indian....sad fact but she won't be successful there atleast in 80s and 90s

She was called an ugly duckling due to her dark skin?! That's so disgusting to know.
@Roman Rashid yup...she's still badly obsessed with fair skin 😶
i think you indians should check your eyes, this woman is super beautifull
@Roman Rashid You do realize that this "obsession" was created due to Bollywood's high demand of fair skinned actresses. She didn't want this in the first place but the ruthless criticisms that she had to face drove her to begin to use whitening products.
I know right, she looks the epitome of beauty.
Omg she's literally sooo beautiful
She dressed drag during an era when drag was considered to be "mad people dressing up in mad ways" and still earned appreciation! ❤️🔥
joke is on those people who criticised her and judged her..... she is and always will be an icon
Exactly ❤️love this woman❤️❤️
We need to hear her story. I usually see her alone in award shows, weddings. I hope she is not lonely and happy with herself. There should be a documentary or movie of her story with no exaggeration. I want to hear it from her.
she has her manager "farzana" who stays with her and to put it in media's words, she simply cannot live without her
She is the most iconic actress of Indian Cinema. Her role may be praised in umrao jaan but her role always left impact in audiences....after Meena Kumari she is become second tragic queen of Indian Cinema 🙌🙏🙏🙏
One of the most iconic bro
We've been villifying women since the begining of time for things that are not their fault, nor in their control, for things they are being unfairly forced Into. It seems like a part of our culture, we channelise our frustrations or anger with everything toward women. Even today we'd blame anuskhka for virat not doing well.
The strangest thing though is men in similar looking situations are glorified, empathised with. Th
So true
Heartily agree with you.
@Harsh R 1. You don't speak for all indians.
2. These "actors and actresses" are more accomplished that most of us will ever be, the work they do produces value and employment and adds to our gdp, in addition to art, culture ,entertainment and socio-political discourse which is the spine of all human existence, so they're definitely far from useless
3. Why the hell can't you make videos on biotech scientists , indian doctors etc
@Harsh R you're the one barking dum dum
Absolutely true!!!
Now the tide has turned. A lady who sleeps around is labelled open minded, bold and independent. A man who does so is labelled pervert, MCP etc.
This documentary seems like she only had a sad life but it's not ,she was a mega star and have a larger than life persona
A larger than life persona doesn't necessarily mean a happy life

It makes us realize they are the same human beings as us and their dreams achievable. Also, her story is pretty sad to be honest. You cannot dismiss a person's sadness especially when he/she has been through so much. Whoever called her ugly was far beyond ugly in the worst ways. She was and still is so beautiful, and very classy and dignified. I admire her. I'm happy I live in a time when I could see her movies, appearances, and watch her life move forward.
When I was around 10years old my dad made me watch *KHOON BHARII MAANG* , immediately I loved her performance and grace . Till now my whole family loves her
Why is this world so cruel and judgemental .....
It is hell bent to break pure and good hearts
Imagine what innocent rekha Ji would have faced at that tender age !!!
@Memcha Laishram so true and Saroji
Only the good are critised and hated
Now if you see everyone hating someone this means. He is good or he is making a change
RK Thakur unlike Modi and trump 😂
4:39...never seen such a beauty 💓
As a kid always heard my mom talk about her as a woman of substance and dignity. I never knew these details until recently. Lost my parents at a very young age and I am surprised how much she reminds me of my mom, hair, face, gorgeous eyes and most of all dignified persona and self made woman. I wish her happiness 🙏
Rekha once told in an interview that the young rekha wants to get married with a lovely boy and have kids but so sad she doesn't have any of them.
She looks so much like her mother
Her father is most hated person in Telugu industry.
Most loved person of Tamil industry

Watch National Award film MAHANATI.
Biopic of Savitri. You will know
I am only 12 years old. I recently watched some of her movies in tv and fell in love with her acting skills. Now whenever I see a movie and find out that Rekha ma'am is there in the movie, I know that the movie is going to be a great one.
She is truly phenomenal. What a woman who’s faced so many adversities yet remains graceful.
she is a strong lady, she will always have a place in our hearts. the patriarchal mindsets condemned her for her success and portrayal of strong character. she was blamed time and again of being characterless, ugly and a witch who killed her husband. but she faced all her criticisms with grace. even today we can see a calm and bold expression on her face. despite facing the atrocities that the male dominated and orthodox society lashed out on her , she never gave up. she is a real inspiration of an empowered woman.
She is the real life Malèna. A beautiful woman, shunned by the society only for one fatal flaw- her beauty. People who can't behold her, try to find a reason why they can't. Grapes are sour, and thus beautiful women are promiscous. Good or bad, they will always talk about her. I find her life really tragic. In a way, I relate to her. She was classy enough to back out. Its sad that she never had a glimmer of hope.
Hollywood has Marilyn monroe.
Bollywood has Rekha.
I love her💓her grace, the courage and confidence she has putting up since years!
Thankyou so much Brut India for this priceless video..She is #STRENGTH...I really think that she should write her own autobiography bcoz there are many remours about her and we(her fan) want her own truth..we love you mam😘😘😘😘😘😘
Imagine calling Rekha ugly. Those people must be suffering a different level of blindness.
I have great respect for Rekha. Despite all the ugly events in her life this lady has taken it all with pure grit. She is an icon for Indian women. And she is still beautiful. No matter dark skin or fair skin. I hope to see her in a leading role once more.
There must be a biopic on Rekha now. Much needed.
OMG, she had suffered the worst ...
Hat's off to u ..
I respect u
All we need is kind and loving people. Let us start by being one. 🙏🏼
I am in awe of this wonderful lady!
Even now when I see her in shows or on the tv all a see is a pretty woman with dull lost eyes. As if a part of her is gone or lost. I'm so in love w her.
Rekha
Ah gemini! Only of he had taken care of her she wouldn't have suffered so much, wow he had 2 daughters while he was seeing savitri and he was married to his cousin and first wife, can't imagine a life full of only shame and shunning, life is difficult for a woman
she's absolutely stunning. the public should be ashamed.
I am a big fan of Rekhaji... Few understand what a 15 year old kid had to go through to become who she is today! This world is sometimes cruel, heartless, and manipulative. Can a 15 year old even understand the role she is playing on camera? She was just a child. I don't need to mention her family problems that she had to go through.
She is queen of hearts and always be a inspiration for all younger generations .💗🙏🏻
Ya.. truly she was the "age less icon of indian cinema "
I never knew this.... 🙏 Thank you for bringing this into light.... The hypocrisy of our society is clearly visible here....
*_its amazing how she survived the mysogynistic Indian society and is still shining brightly_*
Charisma, screen presence, beauty you need to be jealous to call her ugly
There is always a dark truth behind the Glamour of a Star.
She is a Legendary Bollywood Actress.
She deserves more Respect .
I can only see Struggle struggle struggle
Nothing worst than blaming a girl someone's suicide BECAUSE of depression and worst is blaming her for the cause
So from Rekha to Rhea nothing changes. Our misogynist society loves to blame women if their men commit suicide.
Before watching this video i knew rekha maam as a highly succesful bollywood actress. Now tht i had seen all the hardships she had to face frm involving in a kissing scene witnout her consent at a very young age to facing the blame of her husband's death. This woman is just awesome. I dont knw if she still does movies but now she has left a huge impression on me. May u remain happy forever maam. Thanks for this video Brut.
how ironic, the same thing is now happening to rhea because sushant committed suicide, media is full of misogyny

I want a biography on rekha ma'am. Her story is better than of sanjay dutt. Sanjay story just has drugs , alchohol and guns . His story is negative but shown in a very very positive way . But rekha ma'am biography would be full of drama and emotions.
