    she's silly - £15,- hour... - maybe in peak hours but if you take out 25% Uber commision, fuel, taxi insurance and maintnance cost, you end up with hardly half of the many in your pocket. And still no paid holidays, no paid sick leave as they are selfemployed, ect...

    I've been an avid customer of Uber's service for years. I take them everywhere several times a week. So, I've met and conversed with more than a hundred drivers. It's ironic, but I've found that drivers that complain all seem have an employee mentality and mindset. Where as the ones whom make bank have an self employed mentality and mindset. With the exception of fees (today Ubers are less, but hedging closer). Driving for Uber is no different than driving for a taxi company. Some are owner operators, some leased. I've found that previous experienced taxi drivers do better than the rest. I would concur, it's because they have adapted the correct self employment mentality which one needs to do as an independent contractor for hire. Driving a hack or taxi is not every ones cup of tea. As the industries turn over rate will show. Uber driver's receive a bonus for bringing on other drivers, which in the past taxi companies used to do. The drivers got smart and stopped because they realized, they were cutting their own throat, due to over saturation. The bulk of Uber drivers come from the normal 8 hour a day, 5 day a week job market and hence bever developed the correct mind set as is needed.

  • @apmirkin

    uber should only take 110 to 150 a week off uber drivers. thats what a normal cab station does. that way, you can make fair money and work as little or as much as you like.

    The pay rate is much too low, and to add insult to injury, UBER gives riders the impression that they shouldn't tip the drivers, Uber even want drivers to tell riders that "Tipping is not necessary" or "You don't have to tip". If you had to tip, that would be a fee, no one ever has to tip anybody, but we do tip waiters, bar tender, taxi drivers, etc.

    The choice of an Uber driver is the freedom of time, not the mandated old system of 9-5 work week. The statistics show that Uber driver makes less money, depending on the location and time. Also, the average Uber drivers works less than 4 hours not 8 hours. Typical Uber drivers have a regular job, or something they do other than being an Uber driver.
    The cab company will die out, if it wouldn't adopt the modern technology. The only thing that the cab company is breathing is the monopoly of the cab industry and the sustainability of money to its politicians. This is WITHOUT improvement to the old system.
    Technology is moving quickly. Yet, the cab company still offering an old system without any foresight of innovation. This is about to end. Customers will demand more for a better service.
    Adopt or die trying to control the old system.

    If I had to use a taxi service I wouldn't use Uber as basically you don't know who you are getting & can't report them if something is wrong. With a reputable, registered taxi service you have grounds to complain if something is wrong. Although where I live in Perth, Western Australia we have a reasonably ok public transport system if you want to travel during the daytime, but this is a problem if you want to travel at night in an area only serviced by buses & the trains stop running after 12:30am. So in light of this Uber needs better regulations to keep drivers and passengers safe for those who can't use other forms of public transportation or in areas without bus or train services.

    • @zombieclown1956
      @zombieclown1956 9 лет назад

      +Claire Edgar yes you don't know who you are getting in with, but I can speak personally as an Uber driver, I am well documented. If you have a complaint you can use the app to voice any complaints and concerns to the company and the fallout will reach the driver. Uber practically documents everything regarding the ride and usually take the side of the customer in regards to every issue.

    • @franksorry2653
      @franksorry2653 8 лет назад +1

      +Claire Edgar Not so relevant.. But in the defence of the actual service and its concept, and a little travel safe advice, I must say.. Here in London, people are advised NOT to get into ANY taxi without a booking because... basically you don't know who you are getting. Some terrible things have happened. Just because the taxi is branded with fancy stickers and has it's light on the roof that doesn't mean the driver is legit.
      Because Uber are based on bookings they make it very easy. You have all the details of the car, the driver, the journey and the fare, in your hand on your phone before you get in the car, there is and external record of it and, you're given the opportunity to rate your driver straight from the app. No need to call the 'reputable' taxi company and likely experience more of the same poor service you're calling about. You're review, good or bad, is immediately available to other customers. This empowers the customer and creates a better service.
      I love it. It's a great idea. However I am sorry about the poor treatment of the drivers. I don't think not using Uber is the answer, but I will be looking for a way to encourage Uber to play fair.

      They say to never get into a car with strangers. Uber Driver or not. You are a stranger. Does Uber do background checks? How do you know the driver you are getting isn't a murderer or hasn't already committed a crime and was just released from Prison on goof behavior. You don't. at least with taxi companies, they do state and federal background checks. so you know your driver is not a criminal.

    • @tashfiq1
      @tashfiq1 8 лет назад

      +funboy0420 Uber does an Extended DBS check for all of its drivers in UK. So yeah, them drivers are not murderers, child molesters or rapists.

    • @tashfiq1
      @tashfiq1 8 лет назад +1

      when you get into a Taxi, do you even know the name of the Taxi driver? With Uber, you actually see the name, picture, car and rating of the driver as soon as you order a ride. After completing the ride, you rate the driver. Too many unsatisfactory rides and the driver is dropped by Uber. If that was available for taxi and black cab riders, half the black cabbies would be on the dole.

    The basic problem is drivers agree to Uber taking 20% or more of their earnings when everybody knows that 10% would be more than ample. Why do drivers agree to this? It's disturbing that Uber is worth billions, while Uber drivers have to work so many hours for just a few pounds an hour. Uber are just sharks.

    I am working for UBER. I worked out I make £6.90 per hour. What UBER doesn't care about is car maintenance. They don't factor in Tyres, servicing your car, the £4000 insurance, car tax and fuel. It's easy for UBER as their job is done yet they still charge 25%. Use to be 20%. Should be 5%. If they charge 5% the CEO would just be a regular multi-millionaire instead of a multi-billionaire. He wants drivers to suffer so instead of having just the 1 plane he could have several.
    It's like everyone is working hard whilst he sits on his ass doing nothing.

    Uber tech. has brought a revolution in the public transportation system. If any rival company is unhappy with it, it should bring in more advanced technology than Uber. The current barrage of criticism bears no grounds except that no company can compete with Uber's simple and convenient mode of transportation.

    • @sean_day
      @sean_day 8 лет назад +1

      The thing that Uber forget is a social construct. Everything is about bottom line. Uber made approximately 20 million journeys last year. Phenomenal, no? Black cabs did roughly 120,000,000 journeys and rising!

    • @frankjustis
      @frankjustis 6 лет назад

      TheJaved2009, Uber did not invent new technology, they applied existing technology, an App, GPS and cellphone, to an existing business, the taxi business. How can one compete with a company that does not follow the laws surrounding the industry? If Uber is so great, let them stand on their merit and not be exempt from the laws. No matter what your operational procedures are, what kind of equipment you choose to use to get the job done or what your business model is, if it does not change the fundamental job or service you provide, then you need to follow the laws, just like everyone else. Uber did not invent telefuckingportation, they employ an App for a taxi service!

    • @MetricImperialist
      @MetricImperialist 9 лет назад

      +Nathan Warrington Uber didn't become a company so people could have jobs. It became a company so its owners could become rich by providing a service. The only reason Uber has human drivers is because autonomous cars aren't available yet.
      So you tax plan will give them a great reason to speed up that transition and screw the drivers even harder.

    • @Vempsterful
      @Vempsterful 9 лет назад

      Metric Imperialist I think more rights, higher pay and for the company to pay higher taxes to the nation they serve will fix the problem. But I can't see it happening, I think governments will make it harder for them in the future.

    • @MetricImperialist
      @MetricImperialist 9 лет назад

      +Nathan Warrington The government singling out Uber to force them to pay higher taxes is illegal.
      Higher wages and higher taxes = lower profit margins and that will force Uber to charge more for their service and in the end that is bad for the customer.
      When I need a ride somewhere I don't get a cab b/c I care about the driver's income. I get a cab b/c I want to get to where I need to go fast and for a cheap rate.
      If having cabs with no drivers makes the cab fare lower than so be it.
      Your love for government intervention is what make companies in your country weak and uncompetitive which damages the overall economy.

    You are FREE to apply for a real job in the sector of your choice ! Nobody ever truly believed that RIDESHARE DRIVER was a long term career or that DRIVING people around the city was the answer to financial riches! The rideshare business model will continue to evolve as the demands of the RIDERS are defined and as the PLATFORM finds its TRUE PURPOSE! Currently in San Francisco there are 150,000 rideshare requests per DAY! The DRIVERS choose to SIGN ON and drive if they believe it is beneficial. The vehicles 🚗 that are ideal for rideshare are electric ⚡️, compact cars. #INNOVATION

    If these drivers don't like working for Uber they should just quit and go work for a traditional cab company. If you don't like you job QUIT and go find a company that you do want to work for.
    Uber does not exist for its drivers. It exists for the customers.
    If you don't like it, don't work for them and don't use their service.

      Uber destroyed the minicab market . there is just ONE big us corporation that ownes the transport trade in London now ... and the problem is they they treat drivers like s**t .

      +Ovi London Irrelevant and incorrect. Uber didn't destroy the minicab market. The minicab market destroyed the minicab market by not updating their format in like.. forever. There is nothing stopping minicab business' from developing their own app.

      +Frank Sorry Addison Lee had a 5000+ fleet and a great app ! It's about Uber charging Pakistan prices per mile and distroiyng the lives of uber drivers and the minicab/taxi trade !

      +Ovi London Fair call. Thank you. I like Addison Lee, we use them for work. I was referring to Londons black cabs (which I now realise is a different thing to minicabs) and the bollox they are doing to make things hard for Uber, and in turn harder for minicabs, and customers. I stand corrected.

      +Frank Sorry Making it hard? Name once when black cabs have eroded their business model? I'll preempt you. NEVER! You might be surprised to know that the licensing of the Private Hire industry was paid for out of black cab drivers license money

      Clearly you're not familiar with colour variances as you claim "All these people slagging off Uber are black cab drivers", prove me wrong - what is the colour of the cab driver at 1:40, can you guess correctly, doing so is another way to correct your self, another way of being corrected is: correcting/confronting your discreet racist ideas; your deliberate attempt of proclaiming that most complainants are blacks is a direct attempt & prejudice view against blacks done in a subtle manner, in other words you are subtly discriminating against a particular group of individuals, in simple terms YOUR STATEMENT IS CONSTRUED TO BE A RACIST REMARK AS IT FOCUSES THE ATTENTION ON THE TONALITY OF THE INDIVIDUALS' SKIN, addition you are acting in a subtle/careful manner to not be identified as such... A RACIST, YOUR IT. Also I have had the privilege to ride with an Uber black driver as well as others and got his/their views regarding the company, he/many of them appreciates the company and their self employed status as an Uber driver.

      Samuel Spencer. Please tell me your being sarcastic ???... "Black Cabs" in UK refers to London's "Hackney Carriage, also known as "Black and White" Cabs in some cities, just like in New York you have "Yellow Cabs" it doesnt mean it is racist against Chinese, its a reference to the color of the vehicles not the drivers.
