- Turn up the volume and enable the surround sound. This V12 engine experience is the real deal. Pete Aardema and Kevin Braun build their engines from scratch in seek of making horsepower. In this video you will hear a few Dyno runs at JBA Speed Shop in San Diego. Each Dyno run produces a unique and intense 12 pipe engine sound hitting high notes which can exceed 150 decibels. True diehard automotive enthusiast will have an appreciation for this series of musical creations. This symphony performance is from the one and only Aardema-Braun. We hope you enjoy the sound of their 1000HP homemade V12 race engine.
I would love to hear that sound back in F-1
I wish people still built V12 dragsters. These sound amazing.
This engine is soooo cool. I love the sound of a V12. Love that these guys have built it from scratch. Greg thanks for documenting their work.
Glad you enjoyed it thank you!
I really miss that sound. I loved formula one cars when they all were running V12 engines.
Honestly. Pure joy listening to this symphony. Thank you so much for documenting Pete and Kevin's impressive skills building this V12 engine from scratch. Incredibly impressive.
Thank you for watching our videos and having an appreciation for what Pete and Kevin are capable of doing!
Awesome..That's my buddy Scotty. Kick Ass..
Best musical instrument ever! 😁
Thank you for having an ear that can detect a perfectly tuned instrument!
Oh man, those tires expand like crazy on that speed. It’s always a pleasure to see and hear the magical symphony of Kevin and Petes engines! Respectand good luck on the next event!
You need to use a hub dyno with those wheel speeds. No tire, especially a slick, is going to like that.
This sounds incredible, man i wish i can work on stuff like this. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
MAAAANNN!! That thing’s a BEAST!!
Listen to her HOWL!!
Lord have mercy it is a crime that more cars in the world don't sound like this.
Truly a symphony of music! Congratulations on a job well done gentleman! 👏
Thank you!
@@GregQuirin You're welcome
Her: "what kind of music do you listen to?"
Me:
That sounds like music for a man cave. Awesome. Damn job guys treat yourselves to something extraordinaire you deserve it. The car is a monster so beautiful. Going to watch more.❤
Yes, I turned on the audio video receiver for this! It sounds AWESOME. Also, know that Mustang dyno's read lower than just about any other dyno out there! So, you guys ARE making over 1,000 crank horsepower right now. Well done.
Very cool! Thank you for Watching!
Aston-Martin (and Cosworth) spend a gazillion dollars to create a 1,000 hp V12, and a couple of guys from SoCal do it in their garage. Outstanding!
Yep and its freaking amazing to hear it in person at 10,000 RPM!
Jesus ,amazing sound and power
This made my day. Rock n roll guys!
thanks guys
In my opinion, there is no engine melody more magnificent and inspiring than a V12 at 10K RPM. Absolutely wild. Thanks!
Couldn't agree more! thank you for watching! hopefully she will do 300 at Bonneville next week
Love a record setting home built engine!!
Imagine living in the same SUBURB as that dyno shop!
wow...now that is an eargasm....... !
Dam I love a good symphony >>> good luck on the track
That is ********* beautiful!!!!!
Music to my ears, you guys are awesome for putting such a beast in
Glorious! What a magnificent achievement 🏁👌
Many thanks!
Bravo!! I so miss the old racing days of screaming V12s in racecars. I so mss the screaming big V12s used in offshore racing. Thank you for bringing back that 'music'. I noticed the 4 cams are driven by a toothed belt rather than a chain. How often do you replace cam belts?
They have never broken a belt, engine only sees a few miles a year. Pete & Kevin prefer belts over chains. Thank you Greg
Thanks for the video.Really enjoyed this one.
One hell of a machine, sounds awesome
On the static dyno I wonder if the tire failures can be attributed to the exhaust heat generated fried the tires. I did not see any large fans blowing across the back of the car. Just at thought. Thanks for sharing. The 12 should be a great runner.
drum dynos are notorious for destroying slicks. would have been a better plan to use a hub dyno or a good z rated tire.
Beautiful music, but I gotta say, having the hot exhaust blowing on the tires didn’t help their longevity.
this sure has some highly strung cams
Sounds awesome. I believe the tires need to be heat cycled before coming up to speed like that
There's a perfect resonance at low mid range ❤❤❤
I love this monster!!!!!
The exhaust is pointed directly toward the tires. The temperature and velocity of the exhaust gasses would be extreme softening already soft tires
The sound of this engine is mesmerizing. Will it fit in my w124? Lol
Glorious sound but are you not melting the tires with that exhaust?
epic!!
If each bank were joined with an equal length x or y pipe, it would truly scream like an f1 car. I understand it doesn’t need this for performance, it would strictly be for sound. But it would be amazing!
Unbelievable! Well done guys
That's all the Horsepower that v12 puts out there's factory built V8 cars putting that much horsepower out
That first dyno run, where it's coming up to temp and speed, not running on all cylinders, then gets where it needs to be and all of them start working, and she suddenly finds her singing voice!
Wonder how well the V12LS engine would go in this sort of application.
Great Stuff! This made my week! 👍👍
Godspeed
when We dyno motorcycles with car tires we have found slicks don't like being on the rollers, for dyno runs we use a radial tire.
The exhaust is blowing directly on the rear tires or looks like it from these videos.
Wow... cool. I'll be at the next El Mirage just to see/ hear this.
Sounds like an F1 car from the glory days of old.
LOL! At 7000 RPM hit the nitrous! Awesome!
I am no expert at this, but the heat on those tires must be incredible.
Cooking the tires with the exaust ???
Or just preheating them ???
What about exaust harmonics ???
Matching strokes an equalizing pressures to side for additional torque ???
Can you tell me what the bore and stroke sizes are for this engine, and whether it has 995 crank hp or whp? One of the best builds if it isn't the best I've ever seen!
The video said 995 at the crank, 843 at the wheels
They are running 369 cubic inches if they have not changed it. They don’t say bore /Stroke but it is probably very over square
4/2.44 fits bore and stroke 101.4 / 62.2 for metric. No idea but it would allow 10-11k easy and enough valves to make ho
@@dennis-nz5im
Thanks, now everything is clear. The bore is 4 inches and the stroke is 2.446 inches, which means the piston speed is running at a speed of 4000 feet per minute. This is the same as any road car running at a very safe speed. Making 1000 horsepower in this low speed is just mind-blowing tho.
The bore is 3.740 inches and the stroke is 2.800.
Wooow that NASCAR head is magic
Beethoven's Dream 👂😍🎶🎶🎵🎵
Thank you for understanding the Musical significance of this fine tuned instrument.
Could it be also that the exhaust is literally cooking the tire on the dyno... why hasn't anyone thought of that 🤯 probably with air flow on a real run they'd be able to disperse the air ... but literally the tire is heating up on the dyno and bein barbecued by the exhaust 😮😮😮
Good stuff.
fully sick bro,subwoofer
Js the exhaust is dumping straight onto the tire.😮
Good luck guys!
Tire failure due to heat from the exhaust gasses? The thermal energy coming out of that engine must be insane!
Beautiful Noise!! I hope it went as well as it sounds! A passing thought,,,, would it be possible to cool the dyno rollers during runs? It might make the tyres last a bit longer??? Good Luck & safe journeys
Curve is not a curve.....it's almost a straight line to the top.😂
Not surprised tyres melted with exhaust warming them up.
The exhaust is melting the tires, move the exhaust flanges kick them out or something and the tires will stop blowing and get speed rated tires , thanks BigAl Kennedy California
Wonder what RPM the open megaphone is tuned for. Megaphones are notorious for getting out of its sweet spot RPM . They cough and splutter A reverse cone on the end of the open end can help.
Revs like crazy! I bet it has a shit tone of torque too, could it be used as a drag racing engine or is it too heavy?
Why are the exhaust pointed directly at the tires thats only prematurely blowing them
Could the heat from the exhaust be catching on the tires.hence the extra heat, since there's no moving air over the tires or the exhaust. You may want to reroute your headers or build Dyno headers 🤨🤔 just a outside perspective
Exhaust might be cooking the tyres?
2:46 What came out of the intake? Nitrous? Or was the pressure change enough to condense atmospheric water?
What block is it built on or based off of? You machine heads too? How from scratch we talking here?
That was some dangerous stuff there fellas, wromg tyres and the roller speed would have been way too high. Lucky no one was hurt.
Time for a Hub Dyno.
Need to change the Exhaust and turn it away from the tire
Because Hub Dyno!
im concerned by the lack of fans blowing on to that engine while its sitting still airflow is a must
That is a huge V12 engine! What’s the cubic displacement?
6 liters - 369 CID
The car has to decelerate before you push the clutch or the tires are going to pop every time but most importantly the car sounds amazing👌
I wonder what the displacement is.
Its amazing that builders of what seem to be pretty mundane 4 cyl road cars, are able to modify them to produce 1000hp!
4?
@@sv21turbo Not referring to this one, but the many 4 cylinder cars on RUclips, that have 1000bhp. This one is around 600 would guess?
The wheel is at rear of mufller
You´re overheating the tires, look at where you aim the exhausts.
And slicks by it self often get very hot on a rolling road.
Sounds like 3 rice rockets, taped together like a bottle rocket. Like 3 x 4 cylinders.
Looks like the exhaust is pointing right at the rear tires that can’t help
My 5.9 liter Cummins is embarrassed.
I love my 12v but this is orgasmic
Hard to tell from the angle but is the LH rear tyre being blasted by the exhaust?
1st off what an awesome sounding car. 2nd drag slicks can not and will not hold that speed for that long I've had a few sets come apart on my dyno. A UHP street tire with a Y speed rating is good for up to 186MPH but (Y) is rated for 186+MPH as rated for those speeds until the tire goes bald.
Amazing... why are they running the top gear cant they run lower gears?
Is it single gear or 2 speed?
It is a five speed transmission. On the dyno we run in third gear so we don’t overspeed the dyno.
It has a limit of 200 mph.
@@kevinbraun6272 so it was frying tires in third gear??
Don't you think the exhaust is putting heat on the tires?
Good luck, break 250! 995 NA HP, wow!
6:42 It says with nitrous oxide but that was at only 8,900 RPM.
I love racing bonneville , shame to do 8,000 miles over this and wash out
Is this that 20L v12 that was featured a while back?
This is the 6L homemade V12
@@GregQuirinCould we hope to see the engine going into production one day even in low numbers?! 😬
@@GregQuirinCould we hope to see the engine going into production one day ?!
I believe demand for such high performance engine wouldn’t be a problem.
0:41-2:30-3:03-6:04
sounds like an old indy car
Those long long pulls creating excessive are murder on drag slicks, lucky it didn't go real bad. Your normal tires would have been better.
10 RPM per BHP ?
Is my arithmetic correct ?
Good luck @ El Mirage
Need a decent hoop on their bro.
👍
Maybe hot exhaust blowing on tires not best idea, jus sayin.
