  • In today's video, I am going back to the basics of running by establishing my low heart rate in an effort to build my endurance so I don't bonk at future marathons.

Great to see you back with some videos on YT Anthony. Run slow and long, so that you can run fast. Don’t forget to incorporate some speed workouts, and on that workout try and practice the control breathing 👍🏼. See ya in LA 2025.

I would agree with Luis. Do most of your running slow and long at a low heart rate. That will build up your endurance. But then you do have to incorporate some weekly speed work. Over time the speed work will help to naturally increase your pace on the low heart rate runs.

Excellent advice my friends! This time I’m gonna also incorporate something I have lacked…patience!!!😂

Hope you're enjoying your new job Anthony!! I just looked at my last marathon, which had over 2300ft of elevation gain, my average heart rate was 160 and certainly never dropped below 150. I agree with Luis, me I run lots of slow and loooong, I focus on time on feet, getting in a lot of volume with very regular yoga and strength workouts, plus spin classes too!!

Good lord!! That’s a tough marathon. How did it go?
I’m excited to be getting back to the basics. Thanks for the advice my friend.

@@runningformybestlife OH yes, I smashed it, thanks Anthony ... I managed 3h40min, only 3min over my PR despite all that elevation... AND I had run a 3h37min marathon only 8 weeks before!!! It hurt like hell though, I had to keep talking to myself "It's 90% mental, it's 90% mental!!"

Thank you for that. I don’t know anything about the heart rate and running.🤔

You’re welcome. You definitely wanna learn about it. Especially since you’re doing the LA Marathon. Take the next few months focusing on low heart rate training to build your endurance.
