Maaan, the Mexican music scene is so damn underrated. Here in Europe we rarely know these bands, but they never fail to deliver. I've seen so many awesome bands from Mexico playing live in my hometown from various genres (like Anima Tempo, Apocalipsis, Fumata, Isotropía, Parazit, Stockhaussen and many more), I hope I can see El Shirota live as well! ❤
UPDATE: Today, on 2023 September 25 it finally happened! I've finally seen El Shirota performing live in my hometown, Budapest, Hungary! It was so amazing, I was completely blown away by these guy's energy and professionalism! It was loud, noisy, beautiful, easily one of the best shows of the year! I bought a shirt and a vinyl too! Hope to see them back and see other awesome bands from beautiful Mexico too! ❤

if you are into indie rock as well i would highly recommend el mato a un policia motorizado, alkaloides, el extraño, la maquina camaleon, little jesus, tripulacion de osos and el general villamil, south american bands really deliver in this genre

I love how they kinda have that mid 90s post punk vibe that bands like Jawbox, Slint, Shellac, Pitchblende, Crownhate Ruin, Unwound, etc. had, but it's their own thing entirely. Sick tunes!

@@DJMarcO138 yes most of those bands are labelled math rock, with post-hardcore and noise rock influences
@@swanswanswanswanswanswanswan well, while that may be true, I can tell you in the 90s when I was seeing those bands, many were referred to as "post punk", especially in any sort of music press. For context, I grew up in the DC area, and was around for the heyday of quite a few of these bands. Obviously bands like Unwound being from the Pac NW so I didn't see them regularly like Jawbox or Pitchblende, but if they came through the area I'd see them and their ilk. People weren't as nitpicky about subgenres to my recollection.
I used to play some shows alongside them with my band back in 2015. These guys were fucking brutal. Que viva México, chingao.

Only discovered these guys this week and have barely stopped listening. Like some fantastic Shellac, At The Drive-In mash up.
El Shirota supo aprovechar su oportunidad, cuando KEXP fueron a los estudios de León Larregui en la ciudad de México para grabar bandas mexicanas ( principios 2019), los que estaban programados para aquel día eran "Porter" pero no se presentaron, las malas lenguas dijeron que ellos se negaron de ultimo momento, aunque quizá alguna causa de fuerza mayor se los impidió, alguien recomendó a El Shirota de emergencia para sustituirlos y dado que estaban preparados pues lo aprovecharon, siendo ellos mismos causaron mucho impacto con su sesión, ahora ya han tenido mas invitaciones internacionales y continúan en crecimiento (sustituir a su baterista teniendo buen oído y paciencia para elegir y adaptar al nuevo, continuar grabando etc.)
Ojala sigan así por mucho tiempo y demostrando como aquí, gracias a su paciencia bien canalizada, que en vivo son de lo mejor, al igual que The Warning y Le Butcherettes, las tres bandas mexicanas con estilos y géneros diferentes suenan bien en versiones de estudio pero en vivo son aun mejores, ahí el público percibimos músicos con la habilidad para tocar instrumentos que se entregan totalmente sin guardarse nada ( como colocándose en trance estilo Creedenece Clearwater Revival) saludos desde la Ciudad de México.
pd. ¿Alguien sabe por que Kexp ya no subió las sesiones de "Sol Oosel", "Vaya Futuro" y "Quiero Club" ?, en su momento Kexp quito las sesiones grabadas en México por que según las iban a remasterizar, luego subieron nuevamente todas menos esas tres ¿alguien sabe cuál es la razón?

Que chingon no ver cajas musicales ni escuchar ritmos electrónicos como base. El sonido puro de los instrumentos saliendo. Escuchar esto te recuerda a las bandas noventeras buscando su sonido, me llega a la mente Resorte, Jumbo, y diversos ritmos y sonidos de bandas que sonaron en la primer década de los 2000's.

Jumbo es una mierda de banda. Estos weyes, No Somos Marineros, Sadfields, Negrvs y Point DecSter tocan más vergas que esos weyes
