As a legal graffiti artist its all about the pieces and colors and shapes, and you are good at that! So keep it up. But your tags is not good, and for a illegal bomber tags, i would say are the most important part of graffiti. Because thats what other writers would see in the streets. + when you have a good tag its easier to understand how to create a nice piece. So for beginners a tip is to start with tags and throwups and then develop your style over time. Start with the simplest style, and make it readable because its all about getting noticed. If nobody can read your tag, then how can you get noticed? And btw dont put in to much extras like arrows, stars, lines and halos, dont put all of them in one tag. Keep it simple in the beggining! And very important for a beginners dont put a crown over your tag, thats for artists who have been in the game for decades. Another tip is to have a nice name, the ideal is 4-6 letters i would say. And final tip, dont be a instagram guy, go out there and look at tags and art in your city and be inspired, and show respect for writers that are better then you.
This comment is the realest thing I’ve seen on this thread. It’s so important to keep your tags simple and legible. Like he said, don’t use arrows and haloes and shit to save your tag. If it looks like shit without all those things , then fix the tag and make it better.
real quick to any toys tryna get into graffiti: *copy everyone.* If you start off trying to perfect your own, original style, it’s gonna look like some garbage for a lot longer than it should cuz you’re gonna fall into a lotta beginner pitfalls. Instead, do some research, find some tags or alphabets from more experienced writers you like and just copy the shit out of them. Practice their style for awhile until you get comfortable with it then you can start changing up letters and start adding your own individual flairs and all that good shit. really be patient tho, it’s gonna be a bit before you’re ready for the streets or anything lol edit: I’m not saying bite kings or anything like that. I’m saying take inspiration from hand styles you like and use it to develop your own. call me a toy all you fuckin want but end of the day it’s a good way of getting started. and even then, this shit I’m saying ain’t set in stone, you don’t gotta listen to me. fuck man
@Xavier Archer that’s on you to figure out. make sure that you know what you write and you can get it up quick and that you actually feel comfortable going out and doing it. still tho, make sure you practice *a lot* on paper before going out
Your "Tag" tutorial examples are explained well and makes sense... That's the way I learned and was taught by some of the 90's graffiti artist! Just be creative, don't over think it and be yourself..! Also speed is a factor, but that comes with time and practice!!! Nice work Doke
Doke... I always heard that graffiti or the "tag" started in WW1 or something war related? Soldiers across enemy lines or troops just stuck in those trenches for what felt like a eternity, would mark spots around there position for help!Someone find me a WW1 Vet???
Im from greece and when i hear graffiti comes for s greek guy who just lives in New York i was happy becuase we have crisis here in greece and graffiti its the most thing you see when you go to a city and every time i was do graffiti i say to myself dont give up becuause the walls needs you!!!Keep the good work!!!
Good one! I like the way you explained it, the short historical background, and the way you pointed out your personal assessment about your own quality of your tags. being able to make good tags is the basic for good styles - because it is 100% the same with a piece on the wall, it has to have same same or comparable elements in every letter, and thickness of the letters have the same behavior, like the lines that are made with a marker - I‘m looking forward to your next pieces, and i‘m curious if you will be able to transport this knowledge to your style. 💪🏻💪🏻 doki
I learned how to tag by looking at street tags than I learned bubble letters than I went with learning other styles ... I love graffiti because it’s not always about the correct letters or it’s not about the letters at all it’s about the way your graffiti looks I used to get in trouble in middle school because I competed with other graffiti writers, I always looked at it as art but my teachers saw nothing but violence. I love it so much graffiti is the reason I’ve always finished my homework fast so I can sketch and it helped me get rid of my depression i can say that it helped me cope with life I didn’t have the money for expensive writing ✍️ tools but I used crayons and whatever I had my hands on . I remember I got in trouble by the police when I got pulled over just by walking to my house they took pictures of all my books that I sketched on and I got a citation ... anyways to the beginners practice and practice because when you go far you’ll see how good you’ve got . Good job doke.
Duuuude, this is so helpful for a toy like me, hopefully i will get better, watching every one of your videos motivated me not only in graffiti but in other stuff too! Hoping to see more tutorials on styles and technics!❤
My hand writing is basically graffiti style, I spent most of my hours at school tagging books and people's folders, and drawing on pieces of paper. I can write in small letters and cursive but I write mostly in capitals and the shapes of my letters are all graffiti style. Wierd but true. 😊
