Loved this catch up and seeing how excited you were with getting back to some WIPs that hadn't been touched for a bit...it is a joy to re-discover them 😄 So fun to see the strawberry progression and look forward to seeing many more very soon 😜 That Chatelaine looks incredible! I don't think I'll ever do one but I do enjoy seeing others stitch them so get on it and I hope you love it!
Hi Michelle, great seeing your strawberries and finishing ideas. Love the crown! Hope you have a brilliant time. Sarah & I have tickets but she’s just not well enough. Anyway I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun and a great birthday on Sunday. 😊
Well done tackling the Chatelaine sure u will e fine , I have never my self but can recommend looking at Teresa Little Stitcher and The Sharky Stitcher x
I never comment, but I do enjoy your videos. You often stitch on 32 ct, as do I with two strands of floss. You mentioned you prefer size 28 needles. Just received my order of some, and I really like them. Thank you for mentioning them. You say a lot of informative things that we all enjoy. Loved your pre-Christmas videos, so I have preordered the Evertote Advent pkg. for myself this year. I also have a copy of THE NEW-ENGLAND PRIMER; super cheap tiny blue book from Amazon. It's the first bk used here in America, before we were America, in 1777. I love it because the sayings from the children's samplers are from this learning-to-read text. You'll find Strive to Learn and Don't be a dunce in one lesson. Seventy year old retired teacher here, so I always wish you the holidays to roll around quickly for some free time. They are so necessary. Anyway, wonderful presentations each week. I love your choice of pieces, and your stitching is lovely.
Hello - I'm so glad you found that you like them. Everything else just feels like a tree trunk to me now. I looked that little book up, I'd really like to get hold of a copy; it looks really interesting. Thanks so much for letting me know
Glad to see you have pulled your Chatelaine out. I have 3 on the go, 2 of them nearly finished. I would like to suggest that you follow Martina’s instructions. Start in the middle and only focus on one section at a time. They are very rewarding and as they start to grow them become very encouraging and addictive. I think most of us felt intimidated when starting our first one. You’ve got this and Happy Birthday for next weekend and Happy Stitching 🌸💞🌸
Have fun at your retreat! Your strawberries are very pretty! I also love the Drawn Tread Welcome charts! I’ve done Autumn and Spring, and have summer and Christmas waiting to stitch! They are fun! Have a very happy birthday and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than at a stitching retreat!
Happy Birthday! Have you thought about using a floor stand frame instead of a q-snap? With the floor/lap frame you would have a bigger area to work and less creasing if the fabric. Enjoy your videos so much.
Happy Summer Michelle, thanks for the great video, I can relate to the 4 percent! I have never stitched a chatelaine myself but did find Lindy Stitches Flosstubes about her experience kitting and stitching one very interesting and inspiring. I think you will find them fun and helpful too. Happy stitching!🧵
Your chatelain looks beautiful 😍 I will look forward to seeing you start it. Looking forward to seeing you at The Big Stitch next week and wishing you a happy birthday in person 😊🎂🎉🎊
Oh the Chatelaine looks beautiful but I can understand that you are scared to start it. I would be too. Loved all your Strawberries, I have some patterns too that I need to tackle. Helen D has a great tutorial for strawberries and the tops of them btw. Have fun at the Big Stitch and Happy Birthday in advance.
Good heavens! First comment…damn can’t think of anything witty or particularly intelligent…it is Sunday morning…happy stitching all and thanks Michelle for great flosstubes xxx
Wow, the Chatelaine is beautiful but very daunting. I’m afraid I would be stifled by fear. I know you can do it, though! Have a great birthday and stitch retreat. I am in love with the pin cushion with the 70s carpet vibe.
I think I have you beat on The Chatelaine stitching. I bought myself The Scotland Mandala kit when I retired in 2017, and took a trip to Scotland for 3 weeks. As of now, I am about 1/2 done with it. DO NOT try to stitch from the paper pattern! The digital is the way to go, so you can zoom in. Good luck with yours, it will be lovely. I gotta get mine back out and finished!!!!
Hmm, Chatelaine... I have one which was a birthday start and is just about to reach its third anniversary as a WIP. Ask me to to show you my progress when we chat at Big Stitch - for now let's just say there's not much! I also stitch in hand usually, and I started out that way with it, but I struggled to wrangle the excess fabric, as it's definitely bigger than anything else I've worked on. I also felt like all the specialty stitches wouldn't come out as nicely without a little more tension in the fabric. I now do use a scroll frame and Lowry stand for occasional larger pieces, and so have put my Chatelaine onto a frame, but still haven't got much more done since. It's not the stitching that scares me, so much as the logistics of managing all the stuff - the size of the frame, the chart (which I prefer a device for) and so many different flosses: my current stitchy spot isn't really ideal for it. As much as I love the pattern and want to make some progress on it, I have given myself permission to leave it alone a while longer until I can find the mental headspace to get my setup right and dedicate a good chunk of stitching time to it. I would like it done within 10 years though 🤣
I think you have to be in the right frame of mind for a Chatelaine. It really took me a long time to get around to facing it - something I've never had before. I think because it was so expensive, I just wanted to not make a mess of it!
Watched fiber and floss and they had a bunch of chatelaine kits gifted (d-stash) to them. They were gorgeous. I had never heard of them( chatelaine). I’m taking this as a sign!!! Gonna look for a chatelaine kit maybe for a BD gift/start for next year. Maybe by then you will have worked out some of the details and be able to share your experience with the rest of us 😅❤
Lovely stitching, all of them. Super old finds💖 I've never heard of Chatelaine, sounds tricky. Anyway, have wonderful Birthday at the TBS and thank you for your time and just sharing you, always enjoy listening.
Hi Michelle loved your mums stitching, your chatelaine looks scary….but beautiful, your Welcome stitching pieces are lovely, enjoy the retreat and Happy Birthday 🎂 Thanks for sharing ❤️🇳🇿🪡
I have finished Sparkling Peacocks and am currently working on Poison Garden. There are a couple of Chatelaine facebook pages that are really helpful if you get stuck. I love stitching on my Chatelaine’s they are just beautiful stitches.
Being unable to stitch at the moment I've spent the past couple of days plotting and prepping to begin my first Chatelaine, The Polar Mandala. Even though I bought the printed pattern I think I'm going to buy the PDF version as well. My advice: Read, read, READ the directions over and over and it becomes less confusing! Enjoy your time at TBS! "The 70's carpet side" 😂😂😂
Also have just been on the Nimble Thimble website and brought Halloween welcome - love The Nimble Thimble, was my go to shop for years when I lived locally
I think Caroline from Evertote and Kari from Roxy Floss are both doing chatelaines and are both going to be at the Big Stitch so you can have a chat with them. Enjoy and Happy Birthday!
