I've been saying this for years I really hope Oda introduces some threatening bounty hunters later in the story.
That would be very interesting. Bounty Hunters that could be Admiral & Yonko lvl would be something I would like to see.
Zoro was a bounty hunter
I was really hoping it would happen a little after the timeskip. A bounty hunter arc woulda been perfect right after Fishman island and before punk hazzard

I always wondered why bounty hunters were scaled so low on power. It seems like it would make a great deal of money in the one piece world, and a direct story tie is on the straw hat ship in the form of zoro. I always wanted a smoker type character as a bounty hunter that chases the straw hats idk
Honestly I think it's too late to introduce someone strong bounty hunters in the current manga
I used to assume that there wouldn't be super strong people who just weren't involved in the main conflicts other than those that are obviously isolated like those of Wano, but then we got someone like Fujitora just be straight up drafted into such a high level of marine with such absurd strength. It would be a bit odd that people who would be strong enough to match an admiral wouldnt have taken out the super novas tho
Iapitus McHeimer true and on top of that the strong ones usually don’t care at all as long as there side is good and well. Also the thing about these bounties is that they’re 9/10 being backed up by crew members and if the bounty is high you can expect someone else with a well earned high bounty is right next to the guy. So really i just think its too much of a hassle.

It’s just a novel form of power scaling. It doesn’t really mean anything. Plus the WG is super corrupt and would never pay out.
Bounty Hunters is a slept on concept that be dope if they can bring in Hunters that can hang with pirates. They have bounties it be perfect to incorporate.
Here's a possible explanation for Zoro's epithet when you're looking at it in English (I don't know Japanese grammar so it may not work in Japanese):
Before Zoro became a pirate, his epithet "the pirate hunter" meant "the one who hunts pirates"
After he became a pirate, his epithet changed to mean "the pirate who is a hunter"

I’d love to see bounty hunters that hold ideals like the revolutionaries and attempt to take out the most dangerous pirates like Kidd and Blackbeard but not Luffy and Shanks

But how would people know Luffy and Shanks are “good guys”? The newspapers only write them in a bad light and to be honest no matter how much Luffy helps others, he doesn’t really care too much about being “good”. He eats at restaurants without paying and destroys entire cities. So he’s not totally innocent.

Just a suggestion tekking, you should do a topic about the faunas and floras in one piece world. Like the south birds, elephant tunas, sea kings, the yagaras in water 7, that chocobo looking birds, the thief birds and kungfu dugong in arabasta, etc...
The various floras in the boin archepelago, the mangrove in shabaody archepelago, also that carnivorous cacti in arabasta that almost ate that ero camel, etc... and you would call it, BIOLOGY IS EVERYTHING

My response to the title:
I've always loved the Class/Job/Character Traits revolving around Bounty Hunters and I really do hope Oda ends up fleshing out the Bounty Hunters. Like an actual prominent one in the canon. Because all we have that I can think of that are remotely relevant are Daz Bones and Daddy Masterson. The rest are just Filler Fodder or like the one in that episode tieing into the Movie Stampede, Cidre, just Filler Villains.
Bounties are one the most prevalent things or at least coolest things in the story, cuz they can be showcased into the world and see peoples reactions. And given how ridiculous some of these Bounties can be, who's competent, skilled and strong enough to turn those bounties in?
I like the idea and I wish this would happen in the manga...but I think it is too late now.
If this were to happen, it should have happpened either before the Time Skip or right after it, possible after Dressrosa...but it didn't and I lost hope it will.
I hope one day we get introduced to either
a) A small group of strong bounty hunters like Tekking mentions in the video who are adept at Haki or have Devil Fruits, have unique weaponry and fighting styles, and can take on the likes of the Supernova in 1-on-1 combat.
OR
b) A single super strong bounty hunter that is Admiral level. He/she would have all 3 Haki, possibly a cool Devil Fruit, and some awesome weaponry.
Just want to remind you that the epitaph "Pirate hunter" isn't contradictory. You can be a Pirate and still hunt other pirates.
If there was a robot who hunts down other robots and kills them, the term "robot killer" wouldn't be contradictory either.
But zoro doesn't hunt pirates anymore...

Hey Tekking! have you ever thought doing a video on "How did Shanks become a Yonko?". Because unlike a Kaido, Big Mom or White Beard, his position is a bit different. He wasn't part of the Rocks pirates (ok he was part of Roger's, but at a very young age!), he doesn't have a devil fruit that can single handedly level an army (doesn't have any in fact!) and he has a very small crew.
I know in previous videos you've talked about WHEN he may have became a Yonko, but never HOW

Yo tekking101, I really really love your discussions about ONE PIECE. Seriously, no joke, i can't wait for the next one piece discussion video.
In my head there are 2 reasons for not appearing bounty hunters in this point:
1- Once you captured someone whit supernova bounty, you probaly won't need money in your entire life. so risking your life is useless.
2- The underworld / younkou protects the pirates from 100 to 1000 milion bellis, as it's said surviving alone in the new world is almost imposible. Maybe it's not just because of other pirates also the bounty hunters. If not the pirates go in group, maybe you can take luffy 1vs1 but luffy usually has allies near.
I would like to see weird fighting styles and like you said sais or nun chuko adding haki orr with crossbows having sea prison stones in them that would be a cool concept to see and how other pirates are going to deal with this oml that would be so frikin kool

@@thenoobgamer540 in arlong park, the government purposely put a corrupt captain in charge of the island who would just collect bribes to do nothing, as they really didn't want jinbe to get mad over having arlong arrested again. that corrupt official looked like a mouse, and told the world government to classify the strawhats as pirates in anger due to losing his source of bribes, despite them only really clearing out high bounty targets on islands before moving on. that's all they do now, when you think about it. just show up, beat up bounties or people trying to kill them, then move on. they only really broke the law when they went against cp-9,
@@giantmastersword I was about to say, even if it wasn't for the angry mouse man, they still would of likely had to storm Enies Lobby to save Robin, and Luffy always would of went to save his brother Ace, causing the incidents at Impel Down and being a prominent member in the war. They would of become criminals at one point due to those alone.

I can see that, there being a group of the best of the best bounty hunters around, makes you think about who were the hunters that captured the pirates that where locked up and put in level 6 🤔

I like to imagine that bounty hunters exist that actually bag higher level bounties but Oda just hasn't shown any high level pirates to ever get defeated by Bounty Hunters. Though Oda doesn't show people dying often regardless.
The issue of the bounty hunters is that they're only doing it for money. Logically speaking, Pirates make a lot of money while being a marine is a more stable paying job. I imagine bounty hunters eventually becomes either of the two.
I don´t know. I think bounty hunting would be quite an attractive job for warriors. Ones who don´t want to have the marines chasing them because of a bounty but also don´t want to follow orders by joining the marines. They kind of want to do their own thing.
@@MrMarinus18 sounds like a pirates life. Just reread your comment. The reason i think Oda axed the bounty hunters is they are doable in like the weaker seas where there are weaker people and lower income. When you get to the grand line they won't be able to make it on their own or have to join gangs. When considering higher bounty pirates they will have people backing them like how Doflomingo had Kaido. Finally if you are really strong and on par with some 100 million + bounty pirates you are better off joining the Yonko or running your own operation of businesses in the underworld. Because the income you would generate will be extremely higher and easier than bounty hunting.

When they entered the New World it would have been perfect to show a few strong bounty hunters. I assumed that Fujitora or Green Bull would have been introduced as ex-bounty hunters but Oda never focussed on that part of OP world.
I also always thought that Mihawk was a bounty hunter and he did what ever he wants and at some point the marines gave him a bounty as well.
2-3 strong BH over the course of the story would have been nice.

As for interesting ideas for weapons, I always wanted to see somebody use like an oar as a weapon, only to coat it in haki and use it like a glaive or a spear.
Ive actually hosted a small dnd homebrew where the players were bounty hunters trying to catch the king of the pirates, whoever it ended up being. Was pretty fun had a paramecia beer beer fruit user

Wasn‘t this the stuff from OPM? Punches are ineffective against Luffy and I‘m pretty sure that OPM doesn‘t know haki. Zoro has enough endurance to survive through sheer willpower, Robin could stop him before he even starts to move, and Luffy, Zoro and Sanji could sense his presence. (I know that Usopp recently unlocked observation haki too, but his seems to be not that kind of observation haki. He can only see really far.)

I think most bounty hunters that are strong end up getting drafted (possibly forcefully) into the Marines or become pirates after a while

Maybe the head bounty hunter would be a fishman that sticks to the side of a ship and waits for people to get near so he can throw them overboard and fight them in the water, and separating the crew they’re fighting into smaller groups
I've been thinking about this! That after Wano, Luffy will have to deal with the underworld's retaliation. I would think Drug Peclo would be involved, with a team of insane-looking assassins. I think it's also intentional that we don't know who the true don of the underworld is... which is why I think it may be KIZARU. He would be an appropriately terrifying villain for Yonkou Luffy and unless we're introduced to a new powerhouse villain (always possible), and feels like the natural next hurdle after Kaido and Big Mom. Regardless, I think his true nature and role in the story has yet to be revealed. It's also possible he's head of Cipher Pol, or directly serving the Tenryuubito in another manner, possibly discreet from Akainu.
Can we talk about how good tekking looks with the bounty hunter cosplay?
My take - the most successful bounty hunters in the world of One Piece are none other than the Shichibukai themselves. Here's how I think about it - what are the highest bounties brought into the WG (by non-Marines), confirmed in the canon story-line?
Yes you mentioned Peachbeard, but to my recollection, the biggest hauls were when Blackbeard brought in Portgas D Ace and when Trafalgar Law brought in that bulk of pirates; of course, we also have the various members of Baroque Works, some of who (eg Mr 3) confirmed they captured pirates worth a certain amount.
16:13 Robin adds in that she was succesfully dodging bounty hunter since she was twelve and excaping them since she was eight.

hey tekking you probably won't see this but I'm a huge fan and I've been watching all of your one piece videos and I'm around 50% of the way there. once i finish without including current uploads and assuming that your average video is around 20 minutes, i would have watched 133 hours of your content. in one piece terms that's like watching up until thriller bark ! keep making videos if nothing but to entertain me and my love of one piece!

I always assumed Marines could get rewards based on the bounties they took in. Promotions, money, devil fruits... That sort of thing.

I REALLY like the idea of a bounty hunter having some type of telekinesis devil fruit that uses a chain and sickle to capture pirates. Like he uses the sickle to cut up the pirates and drain them down the wraps them up with a crazy long and durable (possibly sea prism stone) chain. I mean they have telekinesis so they wouldnt have to touch it
What about a bounty hunter that uses a haki whip that channels haki into the tip and can also use it to cover the whole whip to make a sort of staff, they could also use the haki to harden it into different shapes
I hope the legendary fishman bounty hunter Dennis can redeem himself by capturing Chopper after the whole Spongebob fiasco
I could see a super casual bounty hunter that has this rag tag group that stays really low profile to avoid attracting attention to themselves, like the opposite of pirates. Instead of gaining notoriety for their successes, they try to make sure as little as possible is known about them so they can get the jump on big shots without being well known.
Maybe their tied to the underworld and get hired like you said to snuff the strawhats out. In one v one fair fights, yeah they'd lose, but they managed to get as far as they did by playing it smart and using blackmail, hostages, exploiting weaknesses, every trick in the book, like Foxy expect....not Foxy lmao.
The leader comes of as this lazy, good for nothing with a happy go lucky attitude kinda like a mix between Aoikiji and Luffy, but has this really broken DF mixed with a BB tier plotting mind that lets him stay one step ahead at all times. He's similar to Luffy on a surface level but serves as a sort of what if of 'If Luffy just decided to coast midway into his journey/lacked or lossed his ambition' choosing easy riches hunting bounties through dirty methods rather than charging through tough opposition cleanly even if he has bear endless pain to reach the greatest treasure of all.
There have been many versions of this sort of thing throughout the story, but a more overt one might be a good primer for Blackbeard and show how raw power isn't the only way to tango with top tiers.
The crew could use Coup De Burst and then some members could fall off the ship and land near bounty hunters

I'm gonna start working on a D&D character his a wizard\fighter bounty hunter that specialties in hunting magic users and I'm gonna flavored it to where he conjures his weapons and I got the idea from this video thanks Tekking
For the bounty hunters to be suddenly a threat to the Strawhats and Revolutionary Army it would be too late. They would’ve needed to be mentioned to before or just after the time skip. So there would be no organization and they would be more solo than a guild like thing.
I wish there was at least one pure bounty hunter relevant to the story. Like he encountered the straw hats when they first got to the grand line, and was chasing Luffy in that arc (alabasta would be a good one) and he built a good relationship with the crew and he knows that Luffy is a good guy and that...
And you can see his development in the story and the pirates he captures and so on.
Thanks Matt for coming with this up, I really was thinking why there is no relevant pure bounty hunter in the story who has a role, but I guess there are a lot of characters to cover in this manga.
What a treat for procrastinating :).
I got idea for a bounty hunter. A devil fruit user of the barrel barrel fruit. He can turn any part of his body into a barrel or part of a barrel. Captures pirates by turning his hair into metal rings of barrel to restrain them. Can also swallow up attacks into barrel to store so he can shoot back out at attacker. A goofy character that stores up attacks before a bounty.
One way to get something similar to bounty hunters into the story could be the Cipher Pools. After Marineford or Dressrosa, the WG could have gathered a team from all the CP branches, maybe a new CP9 or CP10. The WG could sent someone like Agent 47 from Hitman or the alike. ...I just want to see Rob Lucci again in the main story! Not as a pet for the World Nobels but as an actual killing machine for the WG...Am I asking too much?

The Nunchuck Nunchuck Fruit:
Can bind 2 objects together to turn anything into nunchucks.
Can be offensively by turning dangerous things like big boulders or other weapons into nunchucks they can wield.
Or can be used in clever ways like binding their enemy to the side of a mountain or to a moving train. Or bind two people to one another (great comedy potential)
Possible limitations: Can only bind together things that the user could realistically pick up and throw around like a weapon.
Maybe it only works on inanimate objects.
Knocking out the user/user makes too many nunchuck binds and the nunchuck lowest on the list unbinds their targets.
First of all, I kind of hope it's like the one episode of Ben 10 where the three bountry hunters chase Ben down and know his powers better than he does so they can counter them almost perfectly and each is really powerful, but they still want the bounty for themselves so there's some rivalry between them that might screw them over.
second of all, I really like the idea of a guy using a giant sword but utilizing physics to his advantage, so he swings with this boat oar of a weapon, plants it in the ground and uses the momentum to kind of pole vault with it before coming down with a kick, but he also makes the most of the extra angles with hidden weapons, so when he's coming down for the kick blades extend from the backs of his boots, maybe they detach and he fights with them until he grabs his giant sword again, just a fluid, nonstop onslaught fighting style, maybe he also uses the width of the blade to his advantage to block attacks. the idea kind of came from this video:ruclips.net/video/OWWBmIWi_To/видео.html

This’ll be a good idea and keep the story fresh. It’ll be great to have an antagonist who’s not crazy strong but is cleaver and deceptive and strictly focus on capturing and not fighting. It’ll make and interesting clash between luffy. He’ll end up getting captured (temporary) and then he’ll learn it’s not all about strength in combat
To be honest ive been playing around in my head about attempting a fanfiction story with bounty hunters in one piece. After seeing characters like kyros, fujitora, and now the 9 red scabbards. There are some strong upper class fighters and probably more we dont know. Basically idea was have this bounty hunter with a grudge against the big mom pirates. Id give him basic observation haki with vergo level hardening haki, and the devil fruit moa moa from brundi world. He cant win against the best big mom has to offer but if captures kills the pirates big mom sends to get her rewards/sweets.
I really like this idea. Cannot wait to see what comes of it. Sounds a load of fun to do.

Nami couldn't deal with the big threats of the show, but she outsmarted Zoro and Luffy, there's probably not as much info about them out there, so Brook and Chopper could show off their other skills while Luffy and the Monsters are defeated easily by a smart team

Green Bull was the most powerful bounty hunter, thats how the goverment knew about him and invited him to join as an Admiral, we see him not following Akainu orders of kicking Fujitora out of Mary Geoise which might indicate he was kind of a problem for the goverment and decided to invite him simply to have him closer ,take advantage of his massive power and kept him under check by Akainu
I think it was initially planned to introduce more in OP, but as Oda is supposed to end OP in about 5 years, I doubt that there will be enough time left for a real "VS. Bounty Hunter" Arc.But as you mentioned, maybe some of the "underground" people are bounty hunters and will be playing a role.
However, I always enjoy my fillers with bounty hunters. There could also use the possibility that some gangsters, that went to jail thanks to Zoro or Franky came or break out and try to do revenge.
I feel like if this would happen any bounty hunter would go for a divide and conquer method. A 10 v 10 match of straw hats verses the worst possible matchup for each of them. Arc would probably resolve with teamwork allowing them to win, which honestly hasn’t happened since they took down Oars.
I've been thinking about this for a while there are almost certainly Yonko commander or even Yonko level people who do not adhere to the system. Yonko are more than just power they are an organization. I can imagine 6 or 7 ppl randomly in the world that can hold there own with the like of katakuri who never fights because they don't have to or want to. They can't all be pirates Marines and revolutionaries.
Yea, I mean look at Fujitora and Green Bull. Two admiral level fighters that were just chilling in the world somewhere until they got drafted into the Marines. Like where the hell did they come from??
I mean look at Wano as an example. There are some high level fighters there with no outside allegiance or title. I can only imagine the kind of person that resides in a place like raijin island or along the new world. So many parts so many ppl plus we know Elizabello who has a Yonko level punch.
Imo bounty hunters are a missed opportunity we won't get to actually see.
