NAVIEN COMBI BOILER NCB 240 LOW WATER PRESSURE ERROR CODE - Хобби
Want to give you a big thanks to you for this video. I installed a Rheem Combi unit in my house during the summer and I have ran into a few issues with it. I have had a few plumbers come over to look at it and couldn't figure out any the problems. With me having little to no skill set in HVAC, it's been a battle for the past few months. After watching this video, it let me know where I needed to fix my issues. Thank you!!
Glad I could Help! 👍🏻👍🏻
Funny you said, “good helper knows the next step”; It’s how I was taught....gotta think things through & be several steps ahead. Love when on a job & before I say a word; or go to reach for a tool, my helper already is handing it to me👍🏻
See ya on the next one CB & AB✌🏼
imperative.
when I see pex or magical copper compression fittings, it instantly instills major confidence ;)
just for today. lol
Keep up the good work Chuck I enjoy your videos
Thank you. Stay tuned for more. ha.
great video.. beautiful install.
Thanks 👍
Nice installation the one thing you forgot is to ream all your cut pipe!!!
Even if it's not going through inspection you should make it a Habit😁👍👍👍👍👍
To be honest I have never reamed pipes. I mean never. or did anyone i worked for.
@@ChuckBarron Reaming pipe cuts down on turbulence in rigid pipe. Suppose to maximize flow and cut down on fitting failure.
@@ChuckBarron LOL exactly not in 35yrs never an issue
👍🏻 good apprentice always knows the next step.
The next 3 moves at all times.
Also was there no back flow on the feed line? I'm from Canada and it's code up here?
write em up....got it done. your right
Good job guys! I don't know much about those boilers/Water heaters! But that yellow gas line, we have to bond that to the cold water line here in Missouri in case of lightning strikes which could rupture the pipe! Just thought I'd throw that out there buddy! I hope you had a good birthday Chuck!!🇺🇸🌊
the bonding should be at or nearest the "service entrance" (meters/panels)
Yes indeed. Thanks and we also been surfing some nice gems.
Yes.
@@throttlebottle5906 we have to bond directly onto the nut of the yellow pipe in Missouri not sure about your state? Thanks for the reply
@@stevetheplumberbreeding7402 fair enough.
I like to bond everything to everything on boilers and homes.
infact the one place lost the neutral from at the entrance mast, that was ripped 3/4 off the building from a huge tree branch. they didn't even notice until they seen it out the back window. it just kept working as usual, grounding through alternate path of city water line and the neighbors I guess. didnt go out of balance voltage nor harm anything.
hi chuck. is it cheaper for you to build your own primary loop? weinstein had one for me for 145.
ya know. I use to but now I just buy them. The time saver is worth it
Chuck was there an air separator on that system? I didn't see any?
air scoop for sure.
Does this water heater you are working on have a computer Diagnostic system? Because I know you could adjust the temperature on the water heater.
Yes. It was set for 120
If the the tank has an internal PRV do you still need To install another one on the hot water loop ?
And I assume it has a BFP also?
We actually do not have to on domestic side.
Chuck Barron
I appreciate your answer
And I admire your work,I been in business as a licensed HVAC contractor for about 3 years , still struggling a little but still will never go back to working for the big companies .
I like that cleaning trick with the pliers that’s nice man
see little tricks out there,.
@@ChuckBarron yeah definitely great channel man I really enjoy watching it good job
Hi Chuck. I have recently installed a NCB-240e, and I am receiving an error code e784. I cannot find it any where in the literature. Any thoughts?
Call navien for sure. 800-519-8794. best to call them
Chuck Barron I called last night and the code refers to me turning on navlink connection. I turned it off and all is well.
nice
these are the good old days...
since 1993
Hey Chuck i am an installer of Navian boilers. I understand the issue that u are solving in this video as you dont want a manual water feed onnthe same line as an electronic feed. However if u were to just abandon the maunal water feed and only use the electronic one on the boiler as it does in fact fill the heating loop. My point is u do not need the maunal feed at all. Unless it is code in ur area?
Thanks for the info. I have skipped this secondary feed recently also.
Come on Angelo...belt one out for us!
Get it together son.
How to Fix code 302 errors? Never want this to happen again. Is this always a correct statement? All Navien boilers need a direct water feed directly to to the boiler ?? where a phone number ?can I send post pictures of my Navien "water in" set up? Think mine was also installed incorrectly ?
navien.com ....you need water direct to heater and a separate direct to loop of heat.
Hi my unit doesn’t show any light seems like it doesn’t have any power , all though there’s power in the wall plug and I have also changed the fuse .
small switch inside jacket.
NCB-240 does not have internal auto feed in heating loop?
I have error 351-00 abnormal fill valve. What do I need to do?
Did you check boiler filters first??
I did not. I ran into this before on my first navien Job many years ago. This one gets interesting. Stay tuned. there is a part two coming.
hello there I have seen your video thumbs up to all I'm not a plumber but I know some pluming. the repair you have done on the low pressure regulator that someone install in the wrong place should there be a back flow on the Navien combo boiler I did not see one . one day I want to install one in my place
Back flow required for sure.
Hey Chuck, I just bought a house back in June, seller installed a NCB-240E. it's a 1940s cape with cast iron rads on a monoflo loop (I'm learning things!!) and now that it's in the single digits I have discovered a few things. First, the house was having trouble getting over 64F on those super cold days, saw that the temp for the heat loop was set to 130F I fiddled around and changed it to about 160F then it was able to get up to temp. I read that these condensing boilers you dont want to go super high on the output temp else you won't condense (losing efficiency aka losing $$$) but I also read that these cast iron radiators really want high temp to work properly. I noticed that this system was set that way (180F space heating, 120F DHW) do you recommend just upping to 180F? Also.....there is condensation pooling around the exhaust connection on top of the cabinet and have to sponge it up periodically so it doesn't run off. Third, when the space heating is on, the PSI runs about 25, when off it settles about 16. I went to all the rads and bled them using the key. Sorry to toss this all at you, I wish you could do a house call up to western MA lol
Seems to me you need one or the other -- either line pressure going into the auto-fill connection on the boiler OR an auto-fill regulator feeding into the heat loop -- not both. The auto-fill valve inside the boiler adds water to the heating pipe on the DHW exchanger, which is basically the same as feeding the heating loop directly, no?
I forget what we did here. I have to watch vid.
your correct depends on where your doing it, most run the water feed to the system ( usually a tee on the bottom of your air separator between the air separator and your expansion tank , with a pressure valve and a back flow preventer. or you could just feed the water supply into the factory inlet.( a back flow preventer would be nice as well
The factory water feed should work to pure both primary and secondary loop. So we don't need another feed line.
@@ChuckBarron Robool is absolutely rights, you can not have both, auto feed from the factory and external one at the same time.
Is that CSST being used as an appliance connector?
sure is and 100% wrong ;)
that system is still still chock full of shortcuts and failures
Yes. allowed in jersey for a secured fixture such as a heater, water heater
of course jersey allows it.
@@ChuckBarron LOL, I think it;s against what the manufacture says, taking all liability away from them if things go south!
Looks like a Parker fitting. They don’t make parts for that type of CSST in the US anymore. Damn lawyers
The young bucks don’t know about the devastation of back drip while soldering.. 😂😂😂😂🤙😎🏝... they will learn...
oh that pesky leak. and we been killing the jetty as of late.
Hey Chuck, thanks so much for these videos! I'm watching your videos like every weekend now! :) I have seen 4 units worth of navien combi boiler 240E so far now and and none of them have auto-feeders installed into the heat exchange loop. How in the world did the install guys fill the loop and purge the system without the auto-feeder? o.O Did they make a portable version of the auto-filler and just connect it to the cold water inlet? Thanks again for posting these videos!
Glad you like them! Yes two fills needed on theses. Check out specs
@@ChuckBarron Hi! Could you please elaborate on 'two fills needed on theses'. I too have error code 002 and can't seem to keep the heater working for more than an hour or two before she shutsdown...
Last good helper I saw was me 31 years ago...... ;-)
it was me 34 years ago. lol
I’m getting an e.353 error code and changed the sensor and reset it and it is still coming up
call a pro for sure. so many technical things can go wrong.
What pressure psi does it show? Any discharge from the blow-off valve?
You should have a non return valve and a lever valve before the auto fill valve for the heating line. I would have put the tee under the original valve that is there and then a new valve for the heating side non return auto fill etc.
you mean a double check valve with atmospheric vent.... some areas may require a reduced pressure zone anti-siphon preventer that gets tested often.
I could of repiped a few things including the gas line. All was presented to owner who is selling house.
@@throttlebottle5906 non return and double check are the same thing
@@throttlebottle5906 the reduced pressure valve is builded into the auto fill well the are in Ireland anyway
@@ChuckBarron I don't mind as long as it piped correct
I have an error code E777. How do I fix this?
call tech support. they are supper helpful
That cose haunted me. Means not enough power going to cut off valve. Little black circle with green light. Take cover off navien and make sure all wires (should be small red wire) is put it and screwed tight. This will cause e 777 if the red wire isnt connected properly
My pressure is too high, anyone know how to lower the pressure? I know they say bleed it out but not sure where
purge it...maybe a bad expansion tank also.
@@ChuckBarron Tech came added water - 302 error became a 353 error - tech replaced the "sensor" total bill $370 but heat works
1) Doesn’t having the domestic/mains connected to the heating loop feeder without a backflow preventer expose the domestic water to possible contamination?
2) How can feeding the heating loop from the heating loop ever make sense? If the water in the heating loop is low it needs to be fed water from something else…. i.e. mains.
navs are a modern marvel
Hey chuck quick question. I’m getting an error 001 on my system. What does that mean? I mean does anybody know? 🤷🏻♀️
just did one....sounds like new pump
You could have just eliminated the automatic water feed altogether. I have the same boiler and the internal water feed is all that is needed.
🤚I do
amen. lol
I hate plumbing, hoped for good old copper sweat earlier and found pex wen I opened the wall, bent sharply and stooge installed..
the whole rest of the building is copper, except for the junk someone added on, I was almost pissed enough ti tear the whole wall out and replace it with copper, but then I;d have had to patch that in, etc..
just like a box of chocolates. nver know what your gonna get. I was on a doozy yesterday. same thing happened.
SHES A LEAKAH MAMA
i heard yer mama was a leaker too :))
just having fun... LAV. is a funny fella
CMON Angelo.....ha.
Yes.....I got the shot.
How to fix E777
Sounds like a visit is needed. location?
Forgot to debur inside the pipe.
propress, worse than pex compression rings in tight spaces.. isn't many places a torch wont work, sans a lint/paper/flammable gas factory lol
needing to have multiple fire spotters and the holy grail all at once is due to so many stooges in the game
man. I was pissed battery went dead. I missed the planning of pro press attack.
@@ChuckBarron LOL
I suppose next they'll make a hydraulic operated remote head one that fits much smaller areas ( if not they probably will now lol)
oh you know its coming.
