My question to you is when you done with the equipment and un-installing the equipment.what about the mounting? I know that 3M tapes stick like crazy. how do you dispatched and also can that be reused in terms of stick another 3M taped on to that mounting?
Thank you for making this video. I've always had this question on my mind. How do you ensure that your rental place gives you a Toyota model specifically? I'd be afraid they'd try do a switcheroo on me.
Worse case I brought it along for nothing. It's not a huge inconvenience to have it with you if you have a spare harness kit. Toyotas are almost always an option. You could either be picky and go up to a few rental counters but I usually just accept whatever they give me. Last trip I took to California I got stuck with a Ford Mustang as my only option and was told it was an upgrade.
@@mmafan2223 rent from National and sign up for their free frequent renter program. That gives you access to their “aisle” where you can choose whatever car you want from your category. It’s a great way to seriously increase your chance of getting a car that is compatible.
Is the comma 2 open pilot the same for all Toyota’s? If I purchased one for my Toyota Prius Prime. Can I use it for a Toyota Corolla or a Toyota Camry?
This video proved that wheel alignment is not needed in semi/full-autonomous driving. But will definitely 'hurt', i.e. new tyres, bad fuel mileage etc. You also install it in much shorter time than George Hotz did in 1 of his video (kidding!)
Yeah, I think it can compensate up to a point but if it's really bad it can compromise the torque limits ability in certain situations where the bad alignment might compound torque. Like if the car is pulling hard left and you're trying to keep in lane on a left banked curve. Comma have made the install a lot easier than it use to be! Literally less than 10 minutes!
Okay I hate you! Why did I not think of this. I just got back from North Carolina, if you have and this would have been the easiest hack for me not driving everywhere. Well played good sir.
From what I understand the Bolt needs some custom hardware. If no one is willing to make it you'll probably not have much luck. I doubt Comma will ever support vehicles that need more than the basic relay, Comma Power, Panda and harness.
I've been wondering how interchangable open pilot is between cars. I rent toyotas all the time. I do not own a comma 2 yet or even a Toyota. I love Toyota sense 2 and want to try open pilot so badly.
It also provides can bus information for identifying the vehicle to know how to control it, and for Toyota specifically it is how you get 12 volt power to the device to power it.
Maybe when Comma ships vision only adaptive cruise control. Until then who knows. Some people have openpilot working on vehicles without radar already, but that's done by community members much more knowledgeable than me at coding!
lol Open Pilot is FAR better than 98% of any other OEM Lane Keep Assist//Adaptive cruise implementations... This isn't about 'safety' its about making driving more chill
Yeah, that's my suspicion. I averaged like 23-25mpg. I average 36-38mpg in my SE driving similar metro environments. I wouldn't think the 1.8L engine is that much worse but I could be wrong.
ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT IF I INSTALL , IN A RENTAL COROLLA I CAN DRIVE MUCH EASIER? NO NEO, I'M TELLING YOU THAT WHEN YOU INSTALL , IN A RENTAL COROLLA YOU WON'T HAVE TO.

smooth installation and drive, great demo :)
Thanks man!
Thank you so much, I don't know if I will buy a buy but I will definitely consider it for rentals!

i'm a Comma 2 user myself, and you are right, there are no guarantees what car you'll get, unless you personally know someone. So I won't chance it.

I have only been given the option a few times of choosing my rental car.

This was a good idea Logan.

Yep! All Toyota’s are the same!

what model car and year
2020 Corolla LE.
Now that Jason Shuler is gone from the Comma dev group. What do you think about using Openpilot on a Comma two in a Chevy Bolt.
From what I understand the Bolt needs some custom hardware. If no one is willing to make it you'll probably not have much luck. I doubt Comma will ever support vehicles that need more than the basic relay, Comma Power, Panda and harness.
can you self park the car with comma°?
It only has one camera currently so no self parking ability. Obviously if your car is optioned with auto park it will work.

30 day money back guarantee! Maybe try it out next time you're planning a trip!
@@LoganLeGrand didn't know that. Thank you. I'll order one this week.
actually for corolla, you can skip the OBD part
Not on TSS2.0 cars. You won't have power before ignition.
for a rental why is it necessary to install the obd2 power?
It also provides can bus information for identifying the vehicle to know how to control it, and for Toyota specifically it is how you get 12 volt power to the device to power it.
@@LoganLeGrand a makes sense I have a Fca car and never needed to connect it to the obd2
On a lka version of Chevy Bolt Openpilot will support lateral control but not linear control (no radar). Do you think that’s good enough?

corolla comes with adaptive cruise anyway and toyota has good safety. it's the other cars that need it more
not even close to the same thing

Awesome!
Autopilot doesn’t know anything about navigation right?
If you mean OpenPilot, currently no but it’s being worked on to be added hopefully sometime soon!
Ooff, that terrible fuel economy is probably because of the alignment. RIP.
