Am I the only one who thinks Nishitani didn't really die? I mean, the camera cuts away before he actually crocks and he's apparently got enough energy in him to make that police guard suffer, plus he's Nishitani, anything can happen when he's around. The scene just felt very open ended to me.

I wish this guy stayed alive. One of my most favored characters, and he had a sad story, "Uncle D?" Also look at his mad dog style, and Nishitani's, you can note some features.

Nishitani is definitely the guy Majima copied in personality if you think about it. Knife, eccentric nature, loves fighting. Heck, Majima is acting legit like this guy...rest in peace Nishitani.
majima is a combination of all of them. with his loyalty to his friends no matter the costs such as awano and lee, his mad dog character being inspired by nishitani, and certainly more can be found in this guy

It's really cool to see that how antagonists of Yakuza 0 influenced Majima to be who he is now. Nishitani's personality, Awano's mentality (like how Majima sacrificed himself for Kiryu in Yakuza 1 like Awano did for him), sagawa's persistence and Lee's morality. Yakuza series' plot may not be the best (especially 5 and 6), but they always does an amazing and probably the best job at creating a character.

If you look at those scenes aside you can clearly see a resemblance and it really shows how Yakuza 0 subtly built Majima's transformation as well as show that a lot of characters you meet in 0 as Majima is a homage to what Majima has become in 1.

To think that Nishitani had worked for Shibusawa during 0, which means at some point both of them are interacting with each other. it would be great if in the past Nishitani had a (bunch of) fight/s with Shibusawa like Majima fighting Kiryu in 1/kiwami
So he is the inspiration for Majima's crazy personality. At the same time, Nishitani reminds me of The Joker from Injustice a lot. The weapon, the stance, fight style, the craziness too, etc.

It was my first Yakuza game so I didin't know, but at 3:33 you can see Majima true colors through that smile. Nice detail, he didn't need to be broken, he always had the madness in him.

I just realized that Nishitani is an almost perfect representation of mad dog Majima seeing how he fights for the fun of it and he unlocks his mad dog style during this fight
For some reason on my legend playthrough the qte just annihilated his entire orange health bar and while he was on the ground i only needed one knee to finish him off my thug tree was fully upgraded including the blocks with slugger half upgraded
i played this again and finished it on Legend but what struck me is, what if Majima got his Mad Dog style from Nishitani? i remember fighting Nishitani with the Mad Dog and thought what if he got that from him since he was inspired seeing those most amazing and crazy bastards die like crazy bastards
i love how embarrassing it is for Nishi when he tries to trick you by pretending to be down on the floor only for you to just kinda stand there and not fall for his bullshit
