      Lyrics and the entire song is clearly a female song... When I heard his version on the radio..I was like ..Who is this?!!And nothing unique about his voice.. It's country country singing as usual

      Love both versions. Surprised to hear they haven’t had a one-on-one. That interview would likely top the ratings too.

      I don’t think the CMAs really Tracy’s vibe. Nor would she be welcome

      Tracy Chapman is a very private person. She doesn't share much about her personal life. And doesn’t seem to make public appearances. She has released statements saying she is happy for Luke. This is one of her statements: “I never expected to find myself on the country charts, but I'm honored to be there. I'm happy for Luke and his success and grateful that new fans have found and embraced 'Fast Car.'"

    The thing to remember is that Fast Car is NOT an easy song to sing.

      Tracy and Luke were so beautiful singing it together at the Grammy's! The love and reverence Luke showed Tracy, was one of the sweetest things that I have ever seen in my life! There is a reason why after only a couple of weeks of the Academy releasing it, that it has over 5 MILLION views! And GROWING! We all hunger for that.

    How do you have this kind of success with her song and not speak to her?

    • @Metallica8414
      @Metallica8414 11 месяцев назад +6

      Because she is really reserved and private person who rarely do any of the ''showbiz stuff'' She literally won a CMA and was not there to take the trophy, and don't take me wrong, I respect the fact she don't like this public event and she is private but also pretty confident Luke Combs wish he can meet her but some people want to be left alone. She even said she just want to write song, she doesn't want the fame of her success.

    So, Luke practiced this song until he mastered it and then put vocals to it. All that time and he didn't think to contact or thank Tracy for the song. Not until it won a CMA. He really needs to call and sincerely thank her and not do it for the interviews. Congratulations Tracy Chapman. CMA's still one of the least diverse award shows.

      That was my first thought... Never talk to her?

    • @anitramiller9626

      Whose to say he didn't try? I mean, he did get her permission through their teams.. and to be clear, Tracy doesn't usually give permission to use her song. She's a very private person. So it could really go either way.. Besides, she's winning. She'll get royalties from this song for years to come.. like Dolly Parton is getting from Whitney's version of I will always love you.

      @@anitramiller9626 You are absolutely correct. Valid points. But, not to speak to her personally all this time to thank her!! Not a big deal..just a thought.

      He did not steal it..🤦‍♀️ He has to ask permission, or it would be a lawsuit pending. Besides, did you hear when he said they haven't spoken one on one..just through their teams? So permission was granted.. and she gave him a shout out in her acceptance speech that was read..when she won for Song of the Year.

    No way is this cover version of an 80s song worthy of COUNTRY SINGLE OF THE YEAR in 2023. Doesn't say much for the other singles released this year .
