Great video Dave! Is there any chance you could take a walk through on Ed’s Galway Girl (acoustic capital FM)? Think this would be very beneficial!

Wow just came across this video after being a fan of your channel for quite sometime now. Love this Dave! This and the Noel Gallagher 'in the style of' videos are the pinnacle of teaching with some great research behind it. After watching this (and the Noel video multiple times), I think I have a couple of suggestions.
The first would be this : though The Strokes video recently was really well done, I think this sort of an approach works much better for beginner and intermediate players to learn. A sort of step by step analysis of chords and articulation (with you showing it like you're in this video) works well and is more engaging and informative than directly jumping into making a riff/song in the style of the player, in my opinion. If necessary, maybe you can finish the lesson and then showcase a song you've written in the style in the end of the video (or maybe even in a new video altogether. More content!) 😁
Secondly, I really think you covering more pop/mainstream guitarists will definitely help. Probably balance that out with the older Rock players.
Anyway, as always, thanks for this wonderful lesson. You're one of the best and most unique guitar channel on RUclips. No one else is doing such content which is more songwriting focussed. I really think you should continue and not stop. Not just the in the style of videos but even different songwriting tips on the guitar (trust me, singer songwriters like me are always looking for such things over soloing/shredding videos which cater to only advanced guitarists and also hundreds of channels already do it anyway). You'll definitely grow steadily with this quality of content. Whether you upload a video a week or a video a month, please just don't stop. I'm sure you have lots of content in mind. If it makes your job easy, probably tone down on the editing and production and save your time there. With such amazing content and knowledge being provided, I really don't think people will mind a slight lack in editing/video quality. Or at least I wouldn't. Haha.
    Take care! :)

thanks so much Ani, that's really kind and feedback from people like yourself that watch the videos is what I want. After all, I make these videos for people like yourselves.
I agree, this, and the Noel videos are the best. I have tried with the strokes one and the next in the style of one to experiment with writing a track throughout the video, but I think you are correct, I think going through all of the points in more detail first is a bit more to the point. I've been thinking about structure a lot as keeping people watching as possible is important with youtube and for me tbh. I am constantly experimenting and growing though, so I am always going to adjust to what works and to what I enjoy too.
what do you think about the balance of these between these in the arctic monkeys' video? I think the balance was better in that one, but it's your opinions that matter to me.
I like the idea of pop/mainstream artists too. I will do some research, as I am not sure of who is current atm. Any recommendations too would be great.
I like the idea of the songwriter's approach.
I have some other content coming out throughout the rest of the year that is stuff I enjoy that I enjoyed making, so let's see how that goes too (fingers crossed).
From what you have said, I think I should focus more attention on songwriting, I like that concept, I will try to start adding more like that. There's some great channels out there but i think i have a slightly different approach. which i do hope will take off at some point.
I like the new channel slogan, seems fitting for songwrters and people wanting to learn to be more creative....love music, learn music, make music.
if you have some music out there yourself, I'd love to hear it!
haha I really enjoy the editing process, it's a great creative outlet for me, and it's really not as complex and time-consuming as it might seem.

@@DaveyH No worries at all, Dave. Thanks for the detailed reply!
Yes the Arctic Monkeys one is more like a balance between the two styles I agree. But this and the Noel one are just so polished and perfect. And there's so much content in that one single Arctic Monkeys video haha. You could've probably made 2 or 3 videos and then created a couple song snippets of your own using some of those elements :D
And yes, you must definitely consider going more towards the songwriting and creativity approach. Especially with the way music trends are going right now and how so many young kids don't have the patience to pick up an instrument anymore, videos like yours which can get them kickstarted in one particuler style or like one artist they enjoy listening to is great! Yes there are other songwriting channels out there but you manage to seamlessly blend that with guitar techniques to promote creating your own music with some inspiration, which in my opinion is the most important aspect of music/art.
And coming to artists, I think you can do artists like Tame Impala, St. Vincent and even maybe Taylor Swift (whose playing is pretty rudimentary but she's inspired so many young girls to pick up the guitar and is a fantastic songwriter in my opinion). Some older players can include Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead, Adam Jones of Tool, Kurt Cobain, John Mayer, Nile Rodgers etc. And you don't need to cover every aspect of their playing in just one video either. You can pick one album or a handful of tricks and then combine them into a video and then maybe write a snippet yourself using those elements in the end. Can be a 2 or 3 part series for each guitarist/style if necessary. I'd personally love some 80s funk style/guitarists being covered as well.
And thanks for your interest in my own music. I've been making music for quite sometime now. I've fronted two progressive bands here in India in the past and more recently have been making dance music under the moniker 'DJ Mntra'. You can type that name out on Spotify/RUclips and check it out. I have 2 songs out. But only very recently have I started delving more into contemporary pop songwriting and music theory.
Oh and if the editing is not an issue and you enjoy it, then by all means do what you do. It's awesome! :D
I'll probably be visiting the UK in a few months. Maybe I'll run into you there haha. Take care and looking forward to the future videos! Stay in touch :)

@@Robin_0011 He’s sang in a church choir from the age of 4 (this will have been his first formal music education).
The info online states that he was given his first guitar by his uncle, he was initially self taught before having formal lessons.
When he was 11 he saw Damian rice and met him after the concert. The then went home and immediately started writing songs.
He auditioned to go to a pop school that was a reality tv show when he was a teenager, I don’t know if he went there as I didn’t watch the show.
There isn’t much info about his guitar education online but I haven’t done any extensive research other than the analysis of his playing that I did for this video.
