Thats the thing! 9S can cover to story with actual great detail about the enemy. At first glance, just a scary boss - but I was wrong. Learned a whole lot about the boss. Though, did she achieve? Because we see in the flashback that the machine she tried getting attention actually looked up before she died(?) Also - Sorry im late. I only got reading the description, but I got busy x_X
No worries, all is good. And yeah we get a new perspective with 9S, that starts to blur the lines between good and evil, and starts painting the "enemies" as a bit more gray... As for the one she loved? Well unfortunately that was tied to a side quest that I'd already finished long ago as 2B, so that will have to wait for me streaming it to revisit, but I think I will - with my much fuller understanding by the time I get to that point - give contextual lore behind the characters as I go, to help streamline the information.
the machine whose attention she was trying to get was actually jean-paul! its a nod to the real life relationship between simone de beauvoir and jean-paul sartre :D
Granted 2B didn’t see what 9S saw when linking to Simones memories when hacking. But even when 2B cuts 9S off to dismiss Simones pain with “the machines don’t have feelings” was heartbreaking.
It was, and if you take up his quests in the village, you see other small machines who are wearing make up, finding jewellery, etc... to catch his eyes, proving that the cycle of machines descending into states like Simone's is only continuing; and he seems to not even care about them.
Even this game makes me question about humanity, consciousness, or if our body and mind are truly separate things. Or is our counciousness made of nothing? Kinda brings me back to philosophy now.
Well I don't think I can answer that either. What I *can* think I confidently say that humanity is, in more ways than one, a heartless, greedy, self-righteous thing
@@nealang9520 Yeah okay, now grow out of your wannabe nihilist phase homie because ain't know one gonna be around someone who can't see the beauty in our existence.
After all your efforts, it's pointless. In all your hard work, in the end, you gain nothing. Sacrificing your friends and yourself to one person so that he or she can recognize you. But all of it is pointless. She only wanted to be recognized by the man she really loved. So, she puts a lot of effort into that one man she loves so much. She changed herself to be more beautiful because that's what she knew about how to be loved by someone. Too bad she realized that she couldn't win his love when it was too late. After all she has done to her friends and other machine life forms, because of that man. What is love for a machine life form? We all know that machines don't have feelings. It is just their program to know something, adapt to things, or upgrade. My thoughts have two sides. One thing that favors Simone is that she is the first machine who has developed feelings, even if she's a machine and not a human. And one side says that it's impossible because machines are supposed to adapt and upgrade depending on their needs. Gosh! I don't know! Because of Simone, I'm hoping that there will be more games like this that have a machine falling in love and looking for an answer. But. What is love if you are a machine like them? If I'm a machine looking for love, there is no doubt that I'll be like Simone. I was looking for an answer and it took so long to find an answer that I regret everything. Feelings of a machine is so complicated. I can't. Years have passed, but her background story makes me nuts.
This cutscene with the reason she became like this didn’t show to me, I needed to go here to check the whole fight if I missed anything.. n wow, I didn’t even skip like why did it happen to me I am afraid that there is others thing that I didn’t see
Just wait until you do, and beyond. Best written character in the game. And his melee combat is actually really top. Perfect Evade > Spear Counterattack > Perfect Evade > Spear Counterattack is both easy to pull off and has infinite i-frames.
Jean-Paul is the real villain of the game
He...still...wont...look...my....way
Holy shit this boss was an emotional rollercoaster (pun intended)
When its your first time playing you prob hated this boss, but when you played as 9S,you now know its true pain.
Yesss
Well everyone gets rejected, you don't see the rest of us cannibalizing humans to become more beautiful lmao.

All right! All questions will be answered. Then I'll question the answer xD
wait so you only see Simone's thoughts if you play as 9S?

Simone story and louis from replicant is just so alike even the design of her character with the monster alike appearance

Probably it was that Paul machine.
Yeah thats looks like him.

Jean Paul didn't care about his female admirers and not even about Simone which is very tragic and heart breaking.
yep! its also probably referencing the fact that sartre and de beauvoir were in a relationship in real life
Yeah it looks like it and it looks like another stain on 2b's blade

Had she only but broadened her search, rather than narrow her gaze...

How is Jean Paul the villain? The machine was obsessed...
Not a villain. Just a Sheldon Cooper-esque lacking-any-social-skills asshole.
