I was deeply in love with Joan Baez in my teenage years. And I didn't even know what she looked like! I only had a crummy cassette with several songs, includin the Battle Himn of the Republic. But her voice and energy were enough, I could only but love her 🙂
This version of joan baez touched me countless times and often made me cry. I'm not an American, I'm not a Christian, and I can't even use English. But every time I hear the sentence "as he did to make men holy, let us live to make men free", my heart ignites firm strength. I learned this song from my grandfather, and he first heard it 80 years ago in the anti fascist war, fighting side by side with American soldiers in the Far East. thank 🙏 The great American spirit, like a little light in the storm, has flourished on that land since it crossed the sea more than 245 years ago. As long as you still believe in God and defend freedom and justice, you will still lead all mankind. God bless America forever!

Who could not be affected by this momunental rendition of such a wonderful song. What a voice. Everything Joan sings is performed so beautifully. She has a haunting and melodic voice that has been a joy to listen to over the years.
I grew up with her music then finally saw her in concert on the Friday after my mother died in 2012. I've been to two more of her concerts since, the last time was 2017 just before my younger brother died.

Should we just cancel them or postpone, or some other nonsense. It's utter foolishness. This is f*cking childplay compared to the hell they were going through during the Civil War. The entire crowd knew the words. The "pop" star knew the words better. Dressed respectfully, over decades. Demonstrating nothing but musical talent. All you have to do to be good is give in to yourself. Forget TV, radio and social media. Listen to yourself, you have never been wrong.

What a gorgeous voice. I was in Newport, RI for Naval OCS when she was there with Dylan. I have loved her voice since 1960 , but have disagreed with her politics.
The entire crowd knew the words. The "pop" star knew the words better. Dressed respectfully, over decades. Demonstrating nothing but musical talent. All you have to do to be good is give in to yourself. Forget TV, radio and social media. Listen to yourself, you have never been wrong.
"I am" belief stems from you-know-who, Not our Savior. Did you simply listen to "self" at 8 mos and know not to touch a flame? You had to be taught. So who sets the precedent? Who determines what is Good? There is One that does this, but you've completely overlooked Him in your comment.
