I'm a 1987 baby discovering 80s music since the pandemic and Belinda got my heart about 2 years ago already. I could have had a crush on her already as a baby but unfortunately I don't remember 😂 And yesterday something really funny happened: I visit my Dad once a week and I was listening to leave a light on when I entered my Dad's house, he was currently not at home but I have a key and what happened? My Dad left the bathroom light on for me and that was my Belinda moment of the day ❤❤❤😂😂😂
Nobody lip-synched the backtrack vocals ever on Letterman's show back in the day. That was the beauty of seeing musical artists perform their latest single to promote their new album. 👍❤️
sure, her pitch was off in places, but guess what? this was in the days BEFORE "in ear monitors" and singing to a click track, and having phony "guide vocals" that make people look like they're lip-syncing -- everything here you see & hear is 100% REAL and live! Belinda rocks
Belinda Carlisle was stunningly beautiful. Even if she wasn't such a good singer, she probably could've become famous anyway as an Actress. Luckily for us, she chose Music, because we obviously loved her as a vocalist.
She's absolutely stunning. I've been reading the comments here, and its great to see so much love for BC. Tho she kept shooting up the charts, I didn't know anyone else who was buying her stuff. I'm left with the certainty that she was underrated. Fantastic artist.
Belinda was one of the most divine women in the 80s and 90s, so absolutely sexy!! Her songs are so greatful, I still get goosebumps... Why can´t time stand still???
its funny how such a beautiful, beautiful, talented woman, could feel so insecure in front of a camera when doing an interview. she is such a knock out, one of the most, if not the most beautiful woman i have ever seen. a real star
She might not have the greatest voice of all time but it a very distinctive amazing voice and she has to be one of the coolest people the industry has even known. Her style is simply amazing!
Classy Lady and classless TV show host equals bad interview, but she sang the song great and that was what I came to watch this for, thanks for the upload!
As we all know now, she moved to France to get away from any connections with drugs. She has had a 30 year cocaine addiction since about the age of 17. So beautiful, intelligent and seems a lovely person too, and with a great voice. The blonde pulling the face at 'distractions' was either 'here we go again another interviewer asking about it' or 'here we go again, Belinda having to lie and we all know why' knowingly.
It's funny that a woman with such an amazing & photogenic face is so shy about TV interviews! A reluctant celebrity, Belinda Carlisle was one of visual icons of the 80's.
Great live performance of this song -- Belinda Carlisle has such a beautiful voice -- and it doesn't hurt that she's drop-dead gorgeous -- then and now. But I agree with everyone else here that the song really misses George Harrison's delicious slide-guitar part that's on the recorded release -- and my God, David Letterman is lousy at interviews!!
Yes, he is, but then Carlisle isn't making his job easier--she has nothing interesting to say. (Admittedly, BC got better at this as time went on, although you'd think that she'd be pretty good at that point, when she had eight or nine years of celebrity to hone her skills.)
Thanks to Rick Nowels who - along with Ellen Shipley - co-wrote and co-produce most of her best songs strarting with “Heaven Is A Place On Heart”. Actually his catalogue define the pop music since to day: just to mention that he worked with Stevie Nicks, Kim Wild, Celine Dion, Madonna, Sia and helped to define Lana Del Rey as artist and songwriter.
Wow, great stuff, thanks ! I watched Letterman's show pretty regularly back then, but must have missed it that night.
Guitarist didn't get the slide solo exactly right, but it was passable...and besides, there was only one George H., right ? lol She sounds great, and looks sooo friggin cute here as a brunette. She looks A LOT there like a pretty gal I went to junior high with, who's now a big-time actress (think of the first two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies)...
I recall these days Carson was the undisputed king of late night, letterhead was a distant 2nd, there was no seperated at birth late night hosts, with foot long chins (leno & Hall) & unlike Cyrus, Spears, B. hogan, etc.... female singers had talent & could really SING!!!!
It deserved better in the States. Made it to #11 but didn't crack our Top 10. The whole "Runaway Horses" album should have been a much bigger success here in the US.
is that Pattie D'arcy (Jones) the blonde back up vocalist? if so, she did pretty much all of Cher's concert tours as backing vocalist..sadly she passed away a few years back... Kirk..Montreal, Canada
Totally AGREE ! George Harrison's Slide Guitar solo was wonderful. Letterman's band Guitarist was a lame substitute, but Belinda looks and sounds FANTASTIC as usual !
This is timeless. Anyone listening in 2024?

WITHOUT A DOUBT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN TO EVER WALK OUR PLANET !!
the most beautiful singer of the 80s!
Nobody lip-synched the backtrack vocals ever on Letterman's show back in the day. That was the beauty of seeing musical artists perform their latest single to promote their new album. 👍❤️
Her recent tour she sang this song better at 65. Her voice seems stronger which is amazing

It’s kind of her style
@@rd812 Her style is being off-key?
@@TrackerNeil authenticity
She's still great. Watch her on here at the 2023 Capital July 4th concert.
I'd think we'd all leave a light on for beautiful Belinda Carlisle.
My mum said don't let strangers in the house so....
@@ronnana694 😂
Several lights
The most gorgeous woman in the world.
Forever
Watch Letterman fall all over her on the other interviews: ruclips.net/video/ieK0ScoPXo4/видео.html

Belinda is an icon.
Yes, she made it that far.
She is the perfect popstar. Great voice, all analogue, no flashy bullshit.
Belinda Carlisle was stunningly beautiful. Even if she wasn't such a good singer, she probably could've become famous anyway as an Actress. Luckily for us, she chose Music, because we obviously loved her as a vocalist.
The light has been on for 30 years and I am still waiting for you Belinda 🥺

She's absolutely stunning. I've been reading the comments here, and its great to see so much love for BC. Tho she kept shooting up the charts, I didn't know anyone else who was buying her stuff. I'm left with the certainty that she was underrated. Fantastic artist.

whenever im listening to "leave a light on for me" i feel like jumping in my caddy and driving on the beach road until the sun dissapears
I will always love her, from a distance but close to her by heart
One of the female singers we were all in love with in the 80's. What a great time to be 20 something, miss it so much, great memories, no regrets.
Amen! Well said.
I love Belinda. She's beautiful and soooo underrated.
I think she is the hottest lead female of all time, perhaps hottest female ever?
She's certainly a contender for the title!
Balls. Check out the bitch from Transvision Vamp.
She is certainly close...Along with Kim Wilde and Debbie Harry!
stellen11 bitch?m'lad were you born in a shed?

She might not have the greatest voice of all time but it a very distinctive amazing voice and she has to be one of the coolest people the industry has even known. Her style is simply amazing!
Drop dead gorgeous!! 😘
one of my fav songs ever! Belinda is awesome!
I love Belinda.
My all-time favorite female singer.
George Vreeland Hill
One of my favorite girl pop rockers.
She looks so beautiful!
She was my first crush when I was 12. She's so cute
Unique voice and still beautiful :-)
she has such great pitch
Just saw her live yesterday! a dream came true :D
Oh, Adorable Belinda!
Letterman, back in the days. Man he meets so many great people!
Classy Lady and classless TV show host equals bad interview, but she sang the song great and that was what I came to watch this for, thanks for the upload!
This brings back memories of the 80's. I was a young adult than. Nostalgic ❤
This was such a great song
Belinda looking fabulous and singing a big hit, great show miss Dave
Belinda ROCKS.
I love her.
George Vreeland Hill
Great live performance. Thanks for posting.

Yeah, at that moment Blonde Woman is likely thinking, "Dave, with Belinda you spell 'distraction' c-o-c-a-i-n-e."
another great hit by Rick Nowels and a good performance I still remember from back then.
luv her
This is a classic song. Great melody, harmonies till next decade.
gorgeous
Listening during Quarantine 2020
Excelente canción recuerdo mi adolescencia!!
Very good song! I love it
She is the Woman!!!!
She’s so beautiful.
That smile
It's funny that a woman with such an amazing & photogenic face is so shy about TV interviews! A reluctant celebrity, Belinda Carlisle was one of visual icons of the 80's.
Some interviews from the last few years (2020's now) and she's a lot more poised and interesting. She was only around 30 then.
nádherná píseň,nádherná žena
Great live performance of this song -- Belinda Carlisle has such a beautiful voice -- and it doesn't hurt that she's drop-dead gorgeous -- then and now. IMO this her best song as a solo artist. And it doesn't hurt that George Harrison plays slide guitar in the official version.
Belinda just sounds like California! I get that cali vibe from all her songs and I love it!
Thanks to Rick Nowels who - along with Ellen Shipley - co-wrote and co-produce most of her best songs strarting with “Heaven Is A Place On Heart”. Aaha I love the blonde girls vocal outburts. Mad & great.
Que hermosa mujer...

Would love to dance with her...she always seems so happy
Beautiful.
She looked radiant. Great song too.
i love this song!
Belinda!

Belinda is a Goddess
100% live. That woman is important. Very good.

Love Belinda. She seems a little intoxicated during the interview.
so beautiful

Circle in the sand
“Summer Rain”, “Vision Of You”, “Deep Deep Ocean”, “La Luna”.

HEART
always great song
I love it
@xycadium It aired around mid October of 1989.
I wana kiss you ,belinda
Brilliant song 😃😃😃😃😃😃
Always knew she looked good. Always knew she sounded good. Now I learn she smells good too.
Taylor Swift couldn't lace up her boots on her best day. Belinda was/is the OG G.O.A.T.
Suddenly it all comes flooding back why I had a thing for redheads back in the 80's and NOW !
I was always very taken with the looks of her blonde backing singer in those days.Anyone know her name?
wonderfull!
Great LIVE performance...
there is such a big contrast between Belinda and the chorus women (especially regarding looks...)
Big contrast, indeed, because the backup singers have great voices.
Yes great red hair, and her voice was in top condition.
Yes, she is stunning and I love her. But song needs George's lead!
Totally AGREE ! George Harrison's Slide Guitar solo was wonderful. Letterman's band Guitarist was a lame substitute, but Belinda looks and sounds FANTASTIC as usual !
Yeah... You can't do this song and screw up the slide solo. That was a massive cringe moment.
