In my opinion, i still say that _Warriors_ team of the mid '90s was greatest team of the modern era. A who's who lineup of Botica, Radlinksi, Edwards, Offiah, Tuigamala, Connolly, Robinson, Farrell, etc. Winning back-to-back Challenge Cups, Premierships & Regal Cups. Beating the Convicts' (Brisbane Broncos) on there own patch. They changed the landscape of the sport in England.
@@AshesHereos The club risked going bust (which they did eventually) by getting some unbelievable players right through their structures! The level of their performance was incredible. The 1992 team was through the roof, but individually wise the 1988-9 may have been the best side. Look at the CC side in 1989... insane!
@@martinharvey3990 Wigan went bust? Since when? I want your opinion on the '14 Super League grand final. If Ben Flower hadn't of done that stupid act (second punch) in the 2nd minute he wouldn't of got sent off & cost Wigan the trophy. The _Warriors_ held off the _Saints_ for most of that match but one player down ultimately took it's toll in the 70's. Do you agree, or in your opinion it wouldn't of mattered anyway & you was too good on the day? I still think that with 13 men we'd have won it because we more or less held down a team (with 12 men) for nearly 80 minutes, which was amazing in it self, but most folk don't remember it like that.
@@AshesHereos Totally agree. Flower cost the final for Wigan. Saints were MASSIVE underdogs going in because we had no players left. Our game was incredibly basic due to all our creative players missing. Flower handed us our only chance... even then, Wigan bombed chances! That said, I can go back into history with "what ifs" all day... 1990 CC Semi, blatant forward pass from Hanley to Goodway that sent Wigan to the Final, 2002 CC Final: Cunningham try disallowed, Goulding hitting the bar with a drop goal CC 1995 that would've sent us through... Saints v Wigan is littered with these incidents from both sides... that's why it's the best & ONLY true Derby in team sport!
Going for a 4th straight title nobody has ever done that. Saints are the greatest team in super history. We use to be the most attacking team but now we are both. We have a average of only letting 9 point In per game would have been a lot less but we played our reserve team against Castleford.
Always loved seeing the mighty Wigan get beat as they 're the reason I lost interest in the game sick of seeing the same old team year after year winning everything it got boring loved it whenever they lost
Hands up if you miss this rugby league? And I’m not a supporter of either Saints or Wigan. It was just so good. The atmosphere was brilliant.
Refs have to much of a outcome on matches there are so many players sin binned and sent off
The game has gone soft
Remember this as if it was yesterday! Absolutely glorious day and the start of saints super league dominance 💪🏼
Are you a mate of martin harvey by any chance
@@Andy78L 🤣🤣🤣 that I am mate
We love you Bobbie Dazzler St.Helens Legend
This was the start of it... 6 SL, 8 CC & 2 WCC trophies later! If it wasn't for Goulding's men changing the landscape it might've never happened!
