I lost my BLM mustang to cancer about 7 years ago, he was in his twenties, I still miss him. He taught me so much about herd dynamics, he was also the best weather forecaster😊.
And mine gave me invaluable lessons in dropping my "agenda" and living in the moment at HIS pace. What a teacher!

I get you're joking but please don't. Service miniature horses are a thing and they got banned from planes a few years ago, because the ACAA (Air Carrier Acsess Act) does not have to agree with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and perpetuating the "fake a service animal for your convenience" joke threatens what little protection its still gives service dog handlers (like dogs over 100lbs cant fly. Most GUIDE DOGS are over 100lbs)
I never get tired of the horses, the feeding, Tiny, Huckleberry, hay bales, farrier activities. Please keep doing these straightforward, educational videos. Your narration is also interesting. I never get board doing chores with CC.

A really cool horse auction in Utah is called Cedar Livestock Market in Cedar City and the horses look great and are going cheap. You may already know this since you are from Utah. Have a wonderful trip.
We always took a two week vacation and after a bad experience with someone we hired to take care of the horses we just took our four dogs and four horses with us we would camp and barrel race for two weeks a lot of packing for everyone but it was fun😂

We have a great horse sitter, but we also have cameras. It’s not just about checking horses, but also security and then for when I’m working with them by myself (95% of the time) husband can check on me when he wonders if I’m delayed.

I was ones by surprise left alone to take care of 12 Finn trail horses for a weekend. 32 years ago. She had a book publishing trip to do . Book about history of Finish horses. Luckily all went well. I LOVE horses and it's so great to see your doings with horses. Have a good trip.
I knew your trip would be horse-related -- lol. I thought it was property search until I heard your husband was staying home. You are such a good horse mom :) I would set up a camera for Frisco Bill next time you go away. Not so you could spend your time away watching him every minute, but in case something dicey cropped up then you could view footage and make any required decisions or suggestions. I think when you have so many "unusual" animals you have to leave in someone else's care, whatever piece of mind you can create for yourself is worth the time and money. I guess your horse care-taker could just video anything unusual going on with the horses and send you that, so maybe this would be overkill??? Clearly, I'm an animal care worrier too. :)

To keep ponds and large backyard ponds scum free they put in barley bales, I used to use tiny (baby fist size) in our solar bird bath. The horses might eat it but it might help the water troughs.
I have had great luck treating sardonic with (available over the counter at almost all drug stores) Ichthamol ointment, also known as black salve. You just wipe a thin coat over the sarcoid and that is it.
I discovered it when my horse with a very fast growing sarcoid, got a cut on his leg and I treated it with the salve. I was going to bandage it , but he switched his tail and got the salve on it then on the swish to the other side he got salve on half the tumor. My vet had old me not to even wash near the sarcoid, so I left it. About 2 weeks later that half, just fell off with healthy skin underneath. I then put the ointment on the remainder and again in a short time that half fell off and he hair grew back with no recurrence of e tumor. Check with your vet before trying particularly near an eye
I've been following several of the women who do the mustang challenges and their training methods, so I'm looking forward to seeing your process. Also, I would love to see how you evaluate the mustangs to choose the one you'll buy or bid on. I hear they're going to start a challenge for mustangs for English riders, too. This is exciting!

Oh yeah Vegas! I danced their decades ago Can Can's that is a rodeo in the dance world. I so look forward to when you adopt a mustang. I've seen the shows where people compete with their mustangs, I love it dear ... they have mules at BLM adoptions Ha ha ... Enjoy! ❤

In the future, call the airline you want to rebook on and tell them to book you on Y class (economy)
Then go over to their ticket counter and tell them your airlines flight has been canceled with such & such airline and you want to
‘Rule 240’ the ticket.
Which means your airline that xcled you will be paying them the money on your ticket when they turn it in.
Then you don’t have to pay.
(Unless that airline doesn’t have any agreements with other carriers, which is very rare)
I tried that! Allegiant doesn’t play nice with other carriers, they were no help at all.

I hope you can relax. When I was working (40-60 hours/week ICU/House Sup) it always took several days to be away long enough to begin to unwind. I now realize that preparing mentally is very important to make the best of your time. I hope you can get your “batteries recharged” and I know the babies will be fine and happy to see you when you return. ❤️

I use swat on all my horses and I know it says seven days but honestly you are lucky to get 3 days out of it between applications. It does work way better than fly spray though, especially for gnats.
Same, the horses rub it off in 3 days 😂

Have a nice trip! At our stabel we make our own horses daly ration of hay and extra feed ready advance like you have prepped for your trip. Few days forward. So it is easy to do the "shift" at stabel. We have a group of horse owners that take care of the stabel by turns.

I just left for a week to go horse camping just outside of Sisters OR and my husband took care of my other horse for me too. Everything was fine so don't worry!
i would have just stayed at the airport and waited if it was under 7 hours, then I live 2 hrs. from the airport, then have to go through the BS again, plus WHY leave then have to pay parking fees a 2nd time.

Most animals like the taste of chlorinated water. My pets and wild animals almost all prefer my swimming pool water over a bowl of un-chlorinated water. I guess you can add horses to that list. Have a great trip!

Could I please give a suggestion?
Aloe Vera fresh juice from the plant can do wonders with any skin problem: cuts, burns, infection. Except when the problem comes from inside.
Sarcoids are believed to have a viral component
@Luchina A few years ago, aloe vera juice used to be used mixed into feed for healing ulcers in horses, so used internally as well....
So fun! I hate how the airlines can just cancel flights and throw your plans all out of whack. But I'm glad you got out and can't wait to see the show through your eyes!
