I have been sewing for years and have never seen such an easy method to miter corners. Most persons make it so complicated. Thank you so much for enlightening us.
This is the best tutorial for mitered corners and I have used it for several years! I recently lost track of this video and so watched a number of others. None were as straight forward or easy. Thankfully I found it again! :)
I am with you on this. I crashed and burned with the many other vids I followed but this one really works for me (newbie). I did go with the the 1.5" marked corners instead of the 1" as recommended by @tracystoutbehunin9303 as it made it much easier to finish. Great vid and great recommendations. Now on to the napkin projects that have been piling up. So fun!
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful method. It is he best I’ve seen!! I just tried this and there a couple tidbits that might be helpful to a beginner. 1-First of all, use very small stitches on the corners as they can come apart easily. 2-When turning the corners also work at spreading them apart to create a flat surface. 3-this was difficult setting the corner marks at 1” (this does not equate to a 1” fold, but smaller). I marked corners at 1.5” and it was sooo much easier to get perfect corners and manipulate the folds. Perhaps it’s cuz I’m rusty but maybe this helps with other newbies.
I like your teaching style. It is a pleasure to watch, actually very relaxing. I also like that your sewing room is not "Pintrest" perfect and sooo normal, yet warm and personal.
Super! As a person new to sewing, napkins are a great start--we have always used them. I tried many video techniques but your corners came out wonderfully! Thanks for posting this!
I've looked at three different methods for making cloth napkins and this one is the best for sure! I used your video to make Christmas napkins for my dad that turned out really nice. Thank you so much!
Finally, a simple, straightforward way to make mitered corners. This novice sewer had trouble machine-stitching such a short little seam at the corners so I just hand-stitched that. Came out fine.
Thank you! Oh my gosh, I had just finished ironing 2.5 hours 1/4" folds (and that was only half the sides) for 12 napkins and the corners were looking terrible from instructions from a web page. Your corners are so beautiful. I picked up a skill from you that I'll use for the rest of my life. Thanks from Northern California.
Great! I love your easy method for mitred corners. There are quite a few methods out there but yours seems the least fiddly while still being precise. Thank you!
This is amazing and awesome. Thank you so much for sharing! I made 8 napkins in an hour and half, and also used this technique on a set of color blocked linen hand towels. I have a lot of cloth napkins, and I need more, but hours of measuring and folding isn't my idea of fun. Now all I can think about is sewing through my exorbitant stash for holiday gifts!
OH! You can use a quilting ruler that has 45degrees marked, i found that quicker than lining it up on my cutting mat. And I didn't pin, but I did mark the 1/4 point on the line so I knew where to stop/start sewing.
Thank you, Virginia. I am excited to use some of my extra fabric to make some cloth napkins. We have family every Sunday, for dinner, so having these napkins will be nice.
I think I had sheets like those you used in your napkins. Great to recycle these fabrics. I really loved your sewn mitered corners, too. Great video. Thanks.
Thank you so much for sharing this technique. I'm fairly new to sewing and have just used this method to make some baby muslin squares for my nieces baby shower 💕💫
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I am literally going to get up out of my chair, go to my sewing room, and make some napkins that I have been wanting to make for ages. I will, of course, bring my iPad with me so I have access to your tutorial but it was so clear and well done, I might not have to look at it again! I mean, you have really taken something that has perplexed and intimidated me and made it look super easy and understandable. I feel kind of embarrassed now that I was so timid but that's okay, I'm not anymore! I really do so appreciate that you took the time to share and teach your knowledge!Beth
Thank you very much for sharing this tip. I was struggling with the hem roller foot I have, and I seemed to be wasting a lot of fabric by making hems that were too big. This is really the Goldilocks method of making napkins!
Your fabric choice is beautiful!! I'll be going to the fabric store today to purchase some material as I have a wedding coming up next week. Thank you so very much!!
Thankyou for a fantastic tutorial on how to make your own napkins! I have looked EVERYWHERE for an easy tutorial and yours is the best! Thankyou! I can't wait to make my own :)
What a great tutorial, it's a terrific gift idea for birthdays and Christmas. Thank you for taking the time and making the video! Looking forward to more in the future.
That's awesome. I wish I would've seen this months ago when I wanted to make napkins like this. The tutorial I used had many more steps and it was difficult to get the mitered corners I wanted. Now I want to make a ton of napkins :)
Thank you for your ideas and clear instructions for your sewing ideas! I love that you enjoy your projects as well! Thanks for giving (sharing) your talents : ) lady di : )
Thank you so much for a perfect lesson on making those darn corners look neat and straight. I usually do simple napkins with my serger, but wanted to whip out some quick napkins with my regular machine and could not figure out the corners.
Great tutorial! Yes, please use a darker thread for the camera to pick up and closer pictures of corner technique would help us to absorb the process. Never saw it done like that before. Otherwise very good.
Far and away the BEST tutorial for mitered napkins!!! The stitches holding the corners in place while you fold and press is brilliant :)
I have been sewing for years and have never seen such an easy method to miter corners. Most persons make it so complicated. Thank you so much for enlightening us.
Glad it was helpful! I love this method too. What a time saver!
I have sewn many cloth napkins, but have to say I love your method! So much better than other tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing this!

I've been sewing 60+ years but hadn't seen mitered corners like you did the napkins. That is really neat. Thank you for this great video, Ginger.
I totally agree....great method for mitered corners....but I've only been sewing 50 years.... :)
