  • Backstory:
So 4 years ago, I uploaded a video that compiled most of ThatGuyWiththeVHS' videos (it's since been taken down, but you can watch it at www.google.com... special thanks to DKL3 for re-uploding it there BTW). Unfortunately, it did not include this commercial break, which was a shame considering that it was practically what started my love for 80s commercials. So last week, while surfing the internet archive, I would be lucky to find this video once again. Unedited, and as I found it back when I was in the 5th grade (hence why I told you all that I was gonna take you back to the 5th grade) here are the commercials to the 1985 telecast of The Wizard of Oz.
    On tap
    1. Vanderstyne Ford (Partial)
    2. Calzones at Pizza Hut
    3. Ed's Party Warehouse
    4. WHEC Station ID W/ Nightwatch Ten promo
    5. The world famous CBS Special Presentation Bumper
    6. Wizard of Oz intro bumper followed by sponsor tags for Pepsi and the Campbell's Soup Company
    7. Mrs. Paul's
    8. Pepsi (with Lionel Richie)
    9. Almond Joy
    10. Another Pepsi ad
    11. Snickers
    12. CoverGirl (with Ms. Billy Joel herself, Christie Brinkley)
    13. Wendy's (I think this commercial was produced by J.J. Sedelmaier.)
    14. CBS We've Got the Touch ID
    15. Swanson's (If you watched my Big Comfy Couch in the 80s video, you'll instantly recognize this commercial and the one that follows it.)
    16. Milk ad
    17. Speed Stick
    18. NutraSweet
    19. Wizard of Oz return bumper
    20. Saturday night programming promos (programming advertised is the Otherworld episode "I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar", the Airwolf episode "Out of the Sky", and the Cover Up episode "The Ugliest American".)
    21. Tomorrow on CBS ID
    22. Ponderosa
    23. Walt Disney World (with the world's fastest talking man himself, John Moschitta Jr. I also read somewhere that the daughter in pigtails is Mayim Bialik, but I can't confirm that.)
    24. WHEC Station ID w/ Buck Rogers promo
    25. Wizard of Oz return bumper
    26. Pepsi Free
    27. Cheese ad
    28. Energizer
    29. Campbell Soup
    30. Wizard of Oz return bumper
    31. Sunday night programming promos (the Murder She Wrote episode, "Sudden Death", Crazy Like a Fox episode "Fox Hunt", and Trapper John, M.D. episode "High Time" are all advertised here.)
    32. Promo for "The Day the Senior Class Got Married" (This was another program I enjoyed watching back in the 5th grade. I actually have its original airing on my phone, so I'll upload that next week.)
    33. An American Portrait on James Leonard Plimpton
    34. Columbia Banking Federal (and as parody-esque this commercial looks, this is an actual commercial advertising an actual bank. Actually, I did a RUclips search on this bank, and actually found two other commercials from this bank, and while they also only have the bank's name at the end and nothing else, they were actually much longer and well produced.)
    35. An American Portrait copyright screen
    36. This is CBS ID
    37. McDonald's/Camp Good Days and Special Times (I did a Google search on the camp, still going strong.)
    38. WHEC Station ID w/ Nightwatch Ten promo
    39. Yet Another Pepsi ad (also featuring Lionel Richie)
    40. Cable ad
    41. Kit Kat
    42. Pizza Hut (with The Mackenzie Brothers)
    43. Wizard of Oz return Bumper
    44. Dallas promo (the episode advertised here is "Dead Ends". It was the highest rated program of the night, with a rating of 22.6. Actually, CBS was on top that night.)
    45. NCAA on CBS Sports promo
    46. (See 36)
    47. Pet World (first few seconds missing)
    48. Burlington Coat Factory
    49. WHEC Station ID W/ Girl Scouts PSA
    50. Wizard of Oz return Bumper w/ sponsor plug for Pepsi
    51. One more Pepsi ad
    52. Chef Boyardee
    53. Fantastic Sam's
    54. Wizard of Oz conclusion Bumper
    55. Wizard of Oz cast credits (w/ voice over for CBS Sports and the succeeding episode of Dallas.)
    56. Another Pepsi Free ad
    57. Dual Noxzema/CoverGirl ad (the CoverGirl ad features Christie Brinkley)
    58. M&M commercial (another alum from my BCC in the 80s video.)
    59. Campbell's Chicken soup (with some awesome film crackle at the beginning.)
    60. Detective in the House promo
    61. Author, Author promo
    62. Wizard of Oz end Bumper
    63. Wednesday night promos (both the Charles in Charge and E/R episodes advertised here are repeats.)
    64. Photogenesis Camera and Video (I remember this being the first time seeing a VCR where the Insert slot is on top)
    65. Channel 10 Newsbreak, with
    a. Import ban on Japanese cars
    b. New record for Dow
    c. Ted Turner wants to buy CBS
    66. McDonald's
And Unfortunately, there will be no part 2 of Newsbreak, or Dallas commercials, because that's where the tape ends.
This (and the video I'm uploading next week) are filter videos, so stay tuned to what I've been working on.
    FAIR USE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I remember that movie, the Wizard of Oz. P.S. Pepsi is my choice of a new generation and that's how I made the switch.

Now that we know Mcdonalds serves human meat, these commercials were simply code to us, they were always CABAL OWNED!
