My favorite unspoken moment of the series happens in this movie. I don't expect any reactors to pick it up first go. I've only seen one see it. They keep a piece of knowledge for book readers or even avid movie watchers. When Ron gets poisoned, Harry saves him using a bezoar. Snape taught him that in the first movie/book and again was written in the advanced potions book from the HBP, who we now know is Snape (last name was Prince, h/b mother). Anyway, the moment on the hospital wing that is my favorite: Dumbledore says "you must be very proud of your student Horace...using a bezoar" in the back you see Snape and Harry share a quick meaningful glance.... Snape a little surprised yet proud that he taught Harry something, and Harry both thankful but proud. Sweet moments to look back on after you finish the series 💗

The movies did Ginny no justice because in the books she's supposed to be an energetic, sassy, independent, lively girl who spoke her mind and was quite friendly. She was the most popular girl at Hogwarts and everyone wanted to date her or be her friend. After Ginny and Dean broke up, Harry felt in a rush to ask her out cause he was worried someone else would take her. The movies made their relationship so awkward it's insane. In the books, they shared their first kiss after they won the quidditch match in the middle of the gryffindor common room while hundreds of people were watching.

    • @Makkaru112
      @Makkaru112 Год назад +3

The quiddich kiss would have definitely hit home and it didn't have to take away from the kiss at the room of requirement in the movie either. So much could have been put in and or modified into what was already made... oh well. It's still amazing as they chose the route to focus on Dumbledore instead as I recall because there was several routes to go for these films but one had to be picked to build up to an end goal. But yeah, still some weird liberties were taken.. still overall the directors and team were really amazing, the documentaries showing that young director and how everyone loved him, the entire crew and actors. And the passing of the baton to the next director the way it was described in this documentary was just beautiful stuff we don't see much these days. ❤️❤️

Almost the most devastating scene in this is when Harry has to make Dumbledore drink the liquid. I work crazy hours but had to stay up a little late to watch this one. It's seriously brutal where everything hangs in the air in the final moments before Dumbledore dies. The setup kind of very clearly detailed where this year's story would go, but since you're expecting some kind of twist to change it up or fix it, the fact that it went exactly according to the plan you DIDN'T want to happen, it was kind of a brutal twist in and of itself.

This is my favorite book in the series. I know they did it for run time, but I would have loved to see more of Harry's lessons with Dumbledore, as they delved deeper into Voldemort's origin and his obsession with both his lineage and collecting trophies from his victims. Both of which play into what he chooses as Horcrux and where he hides them.
Harry himself asks the obvious, why not make a random rock or piece of rubbish into a horcrux and toss it? Because to Voldemort, who sees himself as the greatest wizard to ever live and above everyone else, to let a piece of his soul inhabit a worthless object and then toss it away would be beyond unthinkable.

I actually like Horace Slughorn very much, one of the few Slytherins that was never spoiled by their corrupt bloodstatus politics. His favouritism is purely based on merit. In the books it is actually mentioned that though he invited students whose parents had made a name for themselves, he did not get invested in those who did not live up to their own potential no matter their name. He is kind even to those he finds dull and apparently a good teacher. And the man has a conscience that keeps him awake at night. It is for one short conversation of a few minutes that he feels guilt for the rest of his life. I guess he did not believe such evil existed.

    What movies missed:
    - a lot
    - Harry had Apparition (teleportation) lessons
    - Snape was teaching non-verbal spells in his Dark Arts classes, which movies showed 0 of
    - Fred and George Weasley had the money for opening the shop from... Harry :) They would have it themselves from Ludo Bagman (which was never mentioned in the movies) that was owning them a lot for predicting the result of the Quidditch World Cup match in the 4th book, but Ludo never payed them, so Harry would give them like 1000 galeons in the 5th book to open the shop
    - Love potions are like the core of the whole story that was left untold in the movies. Voldemort's mother, Meropa Gaunt, used a love potion on his father, a muggle of the same name (Tom Riddle senior) and the moment she became pregnant and stopped feeding him potions - he left her, hence she left Tom Riddle Jr in orphanage.
    - so actually Lord Voldemort is half-blood
    - Instructions in the Potions textbooks were always wrong - that's why Snape never used the textbook, he just wrote the recipes on the blackboard. But he's still an asshole for not updating the textbooks.
    - in magical world the drinking age is 16
    - there is a curse on dark arts position that it can't be held for more than a year - but not all the teachers died. Quirrel got killed by Harry, Lockhart is in St Mungus hostpital, Lupin is fine, Barty Crouch Junior got dementors kiss and is presumed dead, Umbridge is alive, Snape is alive, so only 2 teachers died out of 6 so far

This movie is probably one of the biggest deviations from the books. There is a lot of important information missing.
In case nobody says it. The sectumsempra curse that Harry uses against Draco cuts people with a wound that never heals. Basically you will be exsanguinated to death. Snape invented it and came up with the counter for it. Ironically the counter spell requires him to basically sing to his victim, much like a mother would sing to a sick child.
Also, you find out in the book that Tom wanted to return to the school to teach defense against the dark art's. Dumbledore turned him down, believing that Tom only wanted the job to be able to influence the next generation toward the dark side. So, Tom cursed the teaching post to make it, that no teacher lasted longer then a year.
Once again thanks for the reaction, cutie. Loved every second of it. 😉

All the remarkable or successful students Horace has taught is a point of pride of his.
Ron literally said Ginny had a crush on Harry in the second movie.
    Dumbledore is 115-116 this year.
Draco was forced to do this because Lucius failed to retrieve the prophecy the previous year and went to prison.
They got the money from Harry's tournament winnings.
Voldemort was conceived as a result of a love potion.

Yeah, it would have been smarter for Voldemort to use random pebbles as his horcruxes, but he's too arrogant for that. First, he thinks he's smarter than everyone else, so he doesn't think anyone would ever find out that he made them. Second, he only wants to use items of personal or historical significance to hold his soul. The diary showed him to be Heir of Slytherin, the locket (the real one) belonged to Salazar Slytherin, and the ring was an heirloom from his mother's family, signifying pureblood lineage. In the book Harry and Dumbledore work out a theory on what the remaining horcruxes might be based on some other memories that were cut from the film.

I find most significant in this part to note how far Draco has fallen. Until now he could get out of every bit of hassle and make his father put the entire ministry on notice. Now, not a single teacher pays attention to him, his friends he can not confide him, his allies he can't trust. Even the squib janitor treats him like a common rascal. Him being up there on the Astonomy Tower just like he said he would on the train. Probably the thought of his mother, she being the only one literally begging for his life, keeping him sane.

The irony of things of the "pure blood" case of Voldemort. Remember he is a half-blood as well, just as Snape is. Voldemort's father was a muggle, though there was no love for his father. Initially I though it was Voldemort's book because I remember him being a half-blood. However I had suspicions of Snape because Snape was great at potion making and with all the notes in the book, it started sounding like a very scholarly student.
The Sectumsempra curse.... That was invented by Snape! He used a counter-curse, Vulnera Sanentur, which you can hear him harmoniously chanting over Draco's body to heal the wounds from the curse he invented.
Also some stuff left out from the books. Dobby and Kreacher (HP inherited Kreacher after Sirius's death as he belonged to the Black family) both were involved on spying on Draco at the request of Harry Potter. Also, they were involved in the Battle at Hogwarts when the Death Eaters were destroying Hogwarts. So what they did in about 5 minutes of time after Dumbledore's death, there was a battle that happened. Also, before leaving on his quest with Dumbledore, he gave the reaming Liquid Luck to Ron and Hermione and to share it with Ginny. He did not drink it all that night he was able to get the secret about the Horcrux. It did come in handy for his friends in this battle.
There is a lot more skipped/deviated from the book, but the movie was still good.
    FORGOT THIS (EDIT):
Apparation class (teleportation). This is the year that the students in Harry's class learn about it. Also the term "splinched" is used in the next movie and for it to make sense I'll spoil it here. It is when a random body part is removed. This is an injury from not concentrating enough on your destination when you apparate. So giving you the definition for when its used in the next movie and it will make sense as they totally skip this class in the movie.
Also Snape does a great job in teaching in the Defense against the Dark Arts class. He is one of the best teachers.
Also when Ron was poisoned. Remember where Dumbledore comments on Harry using a "Bezoar" to save Ron's life. Flashback to HP: Philosopher's Stone when Snape first talks about how it is used to save ones life from a poison. Notice how Snape did a look after this comment (not shown in your react video here). I think Snape was impressed that Harry remembered this from his first class and he was paying attention, though I think Snape was a little upset that Slughorn got the credit, though Harry Potter knew where he first heard the antidote from.

The jinx that Voldemort left in the position was that no teacher would be able to last in the position for more than a year. So anyone who taught that position would never return to resume. So there was always no way of telling how it would end for each professor. Quarrel was killed, Lockhart lost his memory and resides add St. Mungo’s, Remus resigned, Moody was incapacitated, Umbridge was suspended, and now Snape had fled after committing the deed that Voldemort had originally tasked Draco to do. And if no one told you, the only reason Voldemort task Draco into doing it was because he was setting him up to fail because Lucius has failed him in the previous film for not getting the prophecy. Narcisa, Draco’s mother and Bellatrix’s sister, knew it wasn’t right because he was just a boy. That’s why she went to Snape for help because she knew she could trust him to protect Draco. Bellatrix had no faith in him and forced him to make the Unbreakable Vow to prove that he would not only help Draco succeed but prove that he was still a faithful follower of Voldemort. Also most followers of Voldemort are either pure bloods or half bloods who believe that in his cause despite the fact that he himself is a half blood. 💛🖤🦡🪄🧑🏻‍🦱📔🩸🤴🏻

The Twins got the start-up money from Harry. He won a lot of money from winning the Tri-wizard cup. He felt it was wrong to keep it and tried to give it to Cedric's father. But his father saw it as blood money and didn't want it. So he gave it to the Twins. This was half the reason they dropped out of Hogwarts. They hated Umbridge so much and knew that they didn't need to finish school as they already knew what they were going to do (open this shop).
Yes, that cave was the same as the picture in Tom's room.
This is my favorite book but the movie is meh because of just how much they had to cut out of the movie.
    ... . . ....
...Below is considered a spoiler for the books since they don't actually talk about this at all in the movies.....
...I'm not sure if you are going to be reading the books or not...
    .
In the books, they go into a major flashback of the Prince family.
Eilleen Prince was a witch who fell in love with a muggle man, Tobias Snape. This is why Snape gave himself the code name "Half-blood Prince" because he was a half-blood and his magical family name was Prince. His muggle father was abusive mentally and emotionally to his mother and so he despised his muggle half. It is believed that his mother was disowned for marrying a muggle man which is why his magical family never intervened to stop the abuse.
    .
Dumbledor believed Tom Riddle (Voldemort) was conceived under the influence of a love potion. Which is believed to cause any resulting children to be incapable of love. This would explain how Tom will never know true friendship or love, as Harry pointed out when he was temporarily possessed by Tom at the end of movie 5.
This is also why Love Potions had a few mentions in the movie. I suspect they were setting it up to tell more of Tom Riddle's story but ended up cutting it out.
Tom Riddle is also a half-blood. Riddle was the name of his father, the muggle man that was under the influence of the love potion given to him by Tom's mother. Once Tom learned the truth, he hated his "Fiflthy muggle name" and wanted a new name, Voldermort. The use of his muggle name (tom riddle) is a good way to get on his bad side.
So, yes, Voldemort is obsessed with pure blood even though he is a half- blood himself. He seems to have leniency towards SOME half-bloods, especially if they are talented. (like Snape) but absolutely hates muggle-borns.

    • @Makkaru112
      @Makkaru112 Год назад +1

Both in Riddle's innate abilities ontop of the love potion thing it definitely gave him as in the books this attractiveness that nearly nobody, even the teachers couldn't resist him, his energy, his charms, his everything. But there is a interesting Harry Potter lore video that went into what if he was raised well with LOVE how would he turn out? It was interestingly well-made. Oh and I forgot to say. He mainly had a point to hate muggles because his mother was treated badly by one as I recall! That's definitely fuel for a villain if i didn't say so myself.

    • @learobinson4450

That wouldn’t have worked. Voldemort put enchantments in place to protect the Horcrux. Those enchantments prevent other spells from working. You couldn’t Apparate on the little island in the middle of the underground lake. You had to take the boat. The Horcrux couldn’t be summoned using the Accio charm. The potion had to be drunk. The potion made the drinker unbearably thirsty & the only way to get water was from the lake & touching the water triggered the Inferi to attack. Voldemort wouldn’t have set up a trap for anyone trying to steal his Horcrux & forget to add enchantments that prevents Aguamenti from working.

    • @learobinson4450
      @learobinson4450 Год назад +1

No plot hole. You can use magic but spells intended to get the Horcrux & survive won’t work.
Plus the book & the movie are different. In the book Voldemort actually tested his enchantments & protective spells & they worked to an extent but I cant go into details since it would be a spoiler. This movie doesn’t include these details though there are hints & mentions in the next movie.
Don’t forget that Voldemort is exceedingly arrogant so it would never cross his mind to put up enchantments that prevent all magic because he believes the ones necessary are enough since he came up with the plan to hide the Horcrux. Plus Voldemort himself would want to return to the cave occasionally to check on his Horcrux & he wouldn’t make the protection surrounding it so strong that it would prevent him from doing so.

This death scene for Dumbledore was ten times harder to watch now because of the true actor playing him just died as well.

Voldemort gave Draco the job of killing Dumbledore as a form of punishment for his parents. He was furious that Lucius Malfoy failed to retrieve the prophecy & was caught & sent to Azkaban so he gave Draco a job he believed Draco couldn’t accomplish & told the Malfoys that if Draco failed he would kill the boy. Lucius & Narcissa were forbidden to reveal what was going on & had to suffer knowing their son would soon be murdered. Voldemort, believing Draco would fail, confided the plan to Snape with the understanding Snape would kill Dumbledore when Draco failed. That’s why Snape was willing to make the Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa Malfoy.

I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned but Draco was ordered to kill Dumbledore as a punishment- because Voldemort was furious that Lucius Malfoy failed to retrieve the prophecy and got himself sent to Azkaban- so if Draco were to fail he’d be killed, and he was just a terrified boy, so the likelihood of him actually going through with it was slim anyway. The unbreakable vow saved him from that fate, much to Narcissa’s relief

Re what you said, that Ginny didn't have a right to warn about the Half Blood Prince's book. She had better right than anyone because Riddle's diary was a trap to possess a victim. It wasn't what she "did" (as you said) but was done TO her.

So, it wasn’t explain why Dumbledore wanted the magazine, in the books. It is a knitting magazine, and Dumbledore is obsessed with knitting. Although, I don’t believe he’s ever actually knit himself. I could be wrong.

Just wanted to tell you to be careful with letting the music play in the background, even briefly. Apparently a lot of reactors have gotten their videos blocked for that. 🙄 PS: I'm enjoying your HP reactions.

Dumbledore was 115 when he died.
Sorry for the 2nd comment. Git disconnected partway through and forgot that I already commented.
48:45 I love that scene. Conversely I despise the idiocy at the Weasley house with Bellatrix and Greyback. It's not in the book.
When Dumbledore died in the book I started bawling and almost threw the book across the room. My original copy still has tear stains on those pages.

No, Harry gave, not loaned, Fred & George his TwiWizard winnings...which was 1000 gallons. He actually forces then to take it by threatening to hex them if they dont. I can never figure out why they didn't mention this in the 4 movie. It's like an extra 2 words. The winner would receive external glory , and 1000 gallons.
