I am happy that you posted this. I own a nice RV and boat that i will be filling both with donated supplies from our local church after hurricanes, i also have purchased a dji drone with a thermo camera capable of detecting heat signatures and actual body temperatures from 1800 feet away. I plan this hurricane season to fly over hurricane strike zones before and after the hurricanes pass in the southern states as the footage would speed up federal funding claims and private home owner claims for the local citizens. In addition, I am personally a former first responder semi retired currently and I have my 107 FAA License as well. I believe, I am actually one of the very few FAA drone pilots in florida with my credentials who will be doing search and rescue this hurricane season already. More 107 piliots should be doing this across the country!

That all sounds great! Drones are an amazing tool for SAR operations. Your hurricane idea sounds great as well. That would make a great business! Keep us posted!

I am a 107 pilot with our local Fire/EMS station. We are also part of the North Central Drone Taskforce in North central PA . Is there any training out there for SAR. I have said that from day one, there needs to be training how to incorporate a drone into searching for an individual. The way it is now we get a call for SAR and we are told to "Do Are Thing" I have tried to get them to fly a grid pattern, to use way points, and it falls on deaf ears.

There aren't a whole lot of them out there, but there are some great organizations that provide training and education. Have you joined DroneResponders?
