y'all listen to his advice about who it's right for. i'm a graduating senior looking at this video for a final project critiquing my education at NYU. but seeing a bunch of prospective applicants in the comments is making me want to offer a bit of advice. that is, pay attention to who he says nyu is for. urbane, cosmopolitan. there really is no campus at NYU. there is no central community, there is no central identity of 'wow, we're all in nyu together let's party.' if you are not a super curious go-getter, you will have a hard time here. because there's no sense of central community, you have to work hard to form an identity and community for yourself here. everyone has goals outside of school, everyone is living a separate life within the city, and it can be hard to make friends in classes or other classic college settings because of this. the general vibe among nyu students is that it is kind of a "means to an end" school -- you go here to live in new york and advance your career and interests, not to make college friends and have a warm, laid back college experience. it is as far from a typical college experience as you could possibly get. if that's what you want, then great, this is the ideal school for you. but i've had a lot of friends be miserable, drop out, transfer. and it's usually because of some false expectations. even for myself, i question whether the trade off of sacrificing the communal college experience for the cosmopolitan, career-oriented experience was right for me. but hey, i made it. this is just food for thought for anyone thinking of applying. also, if you do decide to come here: study abroad, preferably at the beginning of your sophomore year. key to making your best friends.
I'm seriously depressed right now... I want to go to NYU sooooo badly... It has really been my dreams since I was 13 years old... But I get closer and closer to graduation and the more I look up on NYU and getting in, the more I realise that dreams don't come true....
I applied as a joke and literally the last 10 minutes before the deadline....... I got in. My GPA is 3.7 and SAT is 1200. Idek bro. I aint going tho. I wasnt offered a lot of financial aid. Instead I'll be choosing to go to Boston College or UC Berkeley.
I've applied to NYU for the Tisch program for early decision II. I have my last interview this month. After that, I have to wait until Feb. to get my decision letter/email. I'm so nervous, but I'm glad that they really care about people who join clubs and such. Luckily I was very involved in school with band, thespians, winterguard, and the environmental club. I'm just worried that my sat scores will affect my ability to get into the school. It's my 1st choice college though, so it would be amazing to be accepted.
@@jaylathompson61 Hello please to be accepted into NYU TANDON should i be first accepted into NYU like the main campus ? or there is a spesific admission process for Tandon? I NEED HELP!!!
I want to go to NYU soooo bad and I just finished freshman year in high school and I didn't do that good the first semester (I got a few C's) but the second semester I got a 4.2 so I don't even know but I guess I have the next 3 years to keep my grades up but I'm still nervous from the first semester but I guess it's too late to change anything now
Madi Leigh I'm just going to tell you, live your life and make a difference and gain a love for learning. Don't depend on a school to make you who you are I promise you, you are a incredibly being of light and I believe you can go anywhere especially NYU. I hope you enjoy the journey there.
I have a question y'all. I've have done bad in both my freshman and sophomore years in high school when it comes to grades and being involved. If I involved myself with enough extracurriculars, did better in school, and got good SAT scores would I maybe have a chance or should I just go for community college at this point?
personally community college should be your last chance. you should have safety school target school and your dream schools. i recommend applying to lots of schools and if that doesn’t workout then if you are still determined to go to college then you should do community

so i've wanted to go to nyu for the longest because it genuinely seems like such a great school for me. i've just finished my first semester in freshman year and i have 5 A's and 2 B's. i'm very disappointed because those two B's were A's but unfortunately my exams lowered them. my current GPA is a 3.7, but i'm just very disappointed because I really did try my best. can my GPA still be high if I get A's for the rest of high school?
Honey your GPA can get higher because you still have three more high school years, so don't stress too much about it plus I highly doubt that all the students at NYU had straight As during their High School term
the average student at NYU as a 3.7 GPA apparently, so you should be fine! just really study for the SAT and ACT, though, cuz I think they care about those more than your overall GPA, but they still do care about your GPA. I don't go there but I've done tons of research, just letting you know lol!!
I literally already have chosen UT bc it’s the most cheapest and best school I have applied and accepted to but now that NYU has accepted me with a hefty scholarship I’m just over here thinking well great. What am I going to do now?
I’m an incoming senior in HS and I’ve been dreaming about this school for YEARS and I think you should really accept the scholarship. They WANT you to be there and honestly it would be an honor just to go there aha. Good luck in your college endeavors !
Be non-white, be female or LGBTQ, have a shitty home life/income, raised off a single parent, did decent enough in school to maybe get C's in university courses, or have a Jewish family that donates alot of money to the school. THAT, my friends, is how you get into NYU.

I go here, its not worth it for its price. Go to Fordham or Columbia or even a CUNY (local college) if you want to be in NYC.
allsparkwars2 what were your grades like

Yeah sure we can go to Columbia INSTEAD of NYU, if we could get in do you really think we'd choose this over that 😂 (maybe for filmmaking idk)
I'm worried everything is great with school the only thing I don't have is being involved I joined the LGBT+ now in 11th ..

Thought it said you only have to submit one score, yet the dean says they look at GPA & SAT? I don’t understand
