I learned this 25 years ago. I think it's mostly about the music

makes the pitch slider harder to reach but overall there’s less moving back and forth, better for fast mixing.

the camera image is flipped so right is left etc but when you see it the right way round it makes more sense of why it's actually a really good way to set up the technics to mix, especially when doing battle mixing etc, really useful for when blending as well due to where the stylus is, which is completely lost in the visuals being flipped here! :)

Battle style is so hard to mix in....having two different decks is also making it harder...tbh i would of expected better mixing from someone mixing 25 years...im not hating as these are bloody hard tunes to mix but you should know them better..

the thing with mixing hardcore and jungle etc on vinyl is that back in the day it was a REALLY nice effect when beats weren't locked into each other every step of the way like some preprepared synchronised lock step no flavour crap.. it's NICE when the beats slightly phase in and out..
by the way, vinyl does not start out at the same tempo as it ends on a piece of vinyl.. and part of the fun of mixes on vinyl is the clashing and forcing of changes in the mix and making quick locks of tempo is NEVER going to be fully synchronised with a good DISC JOCKEY.. they call them JOCKEYS because it's a hard fast ride to control.. it's not a disc synchroniser.. the DJ is riding a wild beast when trying to lock tracks together, it's NOT about making it sterilised
seriously you say he should know better but you should know better, if you have actually tried mixing on vinyl you would see this person has good skills and it's totally good mixing technique and really good fllavour
go and watch amelie lens PRETEND to make changes in the mix if you want "locked" precision in beats.. she moves lots of dials that make NO difference to the mix AT all, for visual effect.. this person here in this video is mixing totally in keeping with the style of mixing Hardcore on vinyl

by the way i think the beat mixing in this is totally fine, not sure what the original comment was grumbling about at all

@CastleHassall I've been mixing for nearly 30 years so I know a bit more than you.
I wasn't really on about his beat matching but there are a lot of little mistakes in it if you want me to be hyper critical but I was on about the takeouts with the tunes....
From someone that doesn't mix, nor has any vids up of mixing and let alone doesn't own these tunes on vinyl in this video I find your comments off point.
I also mix on a very high profile radio show but like this chappy I mix for fun and would no way say I'm a professional dj and especially as regards to my dj family i do the radiostsition with, but I can hold my own...
I guess I expected more from someone with this amount of experience but to reiterate I've said these are bloody hard tunes to mix and it's even harder with 2 different types of decks.
      I wasn't trying to Diss...
