    As an adolescent, I served altar boy duties at many Catholic funerals. Now I am born again and Jesus is my Savior!

    The most beautiful part of the Funeral Mass and most striking part for me is the Preface said during the Eucharistic Prayer:
    "It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
    always and everywhere to give you thanks,
    Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
    through Christ our Lord.
    In him the hope of blessed resurrection has dawned,
    that those saddened by the certainty of dying
    might be consoled by the promise of immortality to come.
    Indeed for your faithful, Lord,
    life is changed not ended,
    and, when this earthly dwelling turns to dust,
    an eternal dwelling is made ready for them in heaven.
    And so, with Angels and Archangels,
    with Thrones and Dominions,
    and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven,
    we sing the hymn of your glory,
    as without end we acclaim:"

    I asked my priest if I could be interred at a National Cemetary, and he said it is allowed. I believe they bless the plot before the body is lowered in.

    I live in the South, and my neighbors graciously came to my mom's funeral. Trying to explain to them why we do not eulogize during the Mass and do not invite everyone to stand up and speak was a challenge.

    Planning your funeral mass - not morbid at all. It's showing your love for your family because it will be a difficult time for them. You are giving them peace because they will know your wishes. I am planning mine now to make sure my Catholic beliefs are upheld. ❤️

    Thanks for sharing! My mom and I are studying on the catholic church. My Aunt became catholic over 10 years ago so she was helping us. Sadly she passed away in March due to COVID-19, so I am trying to figure what to do for her mass being held in a couple weeks.
    This helped, thank you so much!

    I didn’t know that we could plan our funeral mass in advance. How does one go about doing that. This was such an informative video. We just recently bought our graves in a Catholic cemetery with our feet pointing east. There were not that many graves with this option. We next were planning on planning with the funeral home, but it seems more important to plan the funeral mass. But please would you explain how? Do I just contact our parish?

    I’m attending my boyfriends grandmothers funeral this weekend and I was wondering if you could give a few examples of the prayers said during the service. Thanks so much!

    • @thelivingfaithfulhomeschoo9906
      @thelivingfaithfulhomeschoo9906  4 года назад +5

      Sure. Part of the service will be the full Mass and then there will be the prayers said for the deceased, which are generally at the beginning. There will be readings from the Bible, especially from psalms when the prayers are said for the soul. You'll be seated during all readings, except for the Gospel, which you'll stand for. During communion, if you're not a practicing Catholic, or if you haven't been to confession in a while, you can remain in your seat while everyone receives.

    Sorry to hear about your husband's loss. It sounds like his uncle was a great man who had a lasting positive impact on your husband.
    This was a very helpful guide to how the Mass is conducted. I'm not Catholic, but I did go to Mass once and I understood I was not to partake in the Eucharist. But I was confused as to whether I should have stayed seated or walk up to the alter and double back to my seat. lol. Now I know I could have just stayed seated.
    Even though we may have different understanding on Communion, I totally agree that it should be treated with the utmost reverence. Paul teaches we must examine ourselves and refrain from partaking in Communion in an unworthy manner in 1 Corinth. 11:27-29. I've been to churches where the pastor says Communion is open to everyone all in the name of worldly inclusion nonsense. That's completely unbiblical and not showing the Lord's Supper the respect and dignity it is due.

    One additional comment: in a Catholic church and also in the cemetery, it's not a playground. Please keep your children reasonably contained and quiet. Running around and shouting is very, very disrespectful.

    I was invited to a Catholic Funeral Mass today. She was an amazing woman. The daughter in law, and son, said I would be welcome. I took a pass on the Mass, because, your instructions clearly lay out, a none religious person should not be there. Not a criticism, just an observation this a religious specific rite.

    Roman Catholic funeral? like idolatry and praying to saints. Hmmm, roman inquisition with tortures and martyred saints. The cross of Christ will take you to heaven when you die. There's no purgatory, if there is the cross and blood of Jesus can't save anybody.

    • @thelivingfaithfulhomeschoo9906
      @thelivingfaithfulhomeschoo9906  9 месяцев назад +1

      Dont you ask people to pray for you? It’s the same thing when we ask the saints to pray for us. Idolatry? Don’t you take pictures of yourself, family pictures in your home, etc… same thing. We have pictures of Christ, the saints and the holy family because well, they’re family 😃

      @@thelivingfaithfulhomeschoo9906 what do saints have to do with answering prayer. God is the one who answers prayer. If you pray to saints you are an idolater.
