What a shame about those flaws ☹️ Was it from a private seller? I find the Japanese resellers on eBay are very transparent and will disclose all the flaws in the description and photos. I bought a vintage Diana bag from Brand JFA and the bag turned out to be better condition than their listing. I would trust the Japanese resellers because they are bound by tight regulations in Japan. I wouldn’t buy expensive designer items from private eBay sellers that are not a highly rated top seller, that to me is too risky.

And the refund process also took forever, it was horrible.

I use to live in Japan and they are very meticulous in describing their products and it is highly illegal and hard to sell any fakes there. Also, the consumer market there is very into designer bags and reselling. Just buy from a seller that is top rated and you can be assured that it is as described and legit.
I bought a vintage Chanel matelasse lambskin tote from eBay Japan seller for 630$. It’s beautiful! I have bought from Japan before! It’s very thick and no way would I buy a new one. Quality is not good now with issues.

I think the metallic flap is gorgeous, and you got it for such a good price! It is not perfect, but the bag is not new. You could easily have the stiching fixed by a professional bag spa. The quality of the leather is likely betterthan in the new bags plus this style is a true classic with the double flap.

It might be due to over-use with rubbing or it was stored incorrectly. Glad you can return it. Maybe go for the black reissue, there are plenty on online consignment stores. 💜

The colour looks like pewter, like a gold/silver. The Reissue 226 Black with ruthenium is my all time favourite Chanel bag. I’m sorry about your bag Hun x
WOW those flaws should have been pointed out in the description and the bag priced accordingly. Over 3 years ago I purchased a number of high end bags from Ebay and I have been mainly happy with the authenticity. I wouldn't buy any now.

I’ve had some experiences like yours where I bought a bag that had flaws like popped stitches, structure wear, scratches, etc that were not described in the listing and I had to do a return. Some bags have had really bad odors, like perfume or must. However, one day I found a $18,000 (retail) Chanel strass bag listed for $4,900… I couldn’t believe it. I grabbed that bag so fast. It was in pristine condition, no idea why the seller had it listed for so low! It was current season too. 🤯 I’ve had other good experiences on eBay as well. Another thing is that at least their return policy is pretty good and protects the buyer.
I just had a bad experience on Ebay with a Coach bag (of all things!). I got a full refund thankfully. Good luck with your return - it is a nice bag shame about the stitching.
Ebay has been pretty tough for me lately. My last two bags (one Gucci and one Louis vuitton) has damage and Mildew. The Gucci was so horrible to the point the Postmaster even stated "Whatevers in there is full of mold or something". I had to fight through PayPal from a Japanese seller on that one. Sorry that happened to you Jess! I hope you get your money back.

I did recently purchase a vintage chanel camera bag on ebay which ended up being a win however i dont want to go toooo crazy on ebay because there is a chance of disappointment again! haha

I actually need to sell a pair of silver star Stella McCartney Elyse, I bought the wrong size, the bought the right size, so now I have two. And then, on eBay, funnily enough, I bought this falabella mini backpack, for a great price....but discovered why, lol it has a very distinct smell, I was going to sell it, but I'm gonna keep it :3, and figure out how to get rid of that smell, omg (why does it smell like vietnamese food?!)

Ruthenium doesn’t have to be brushed/aged! There is shiny ruthenium (dark silver) and brushed/aged ruthenium

You can’t authenticate by looking at something!! Always make sure things are authentic before you pay luxury money!!
