You're so right! Both actors portray characters that feel extraordinarily real. Gosh I would love a backstory and afterword - like how did the characters meet, what is the scope of the dark-haired man's inner conflict, and of course what they do next. Of course so much conveyed in this piece alone but this feels like it would be a fantastic feature-length film!

@@VenusEvan_1885, Sorry, I think that just being a muslin gave the film the essential depth of a man thinking that he was playing a role in life that did not fit and framed whom he exactly is. The anguish he shows and the "necessity of the first kiss" just gave the exact tone of his life in being someone (sexualily speaking) else. What you call a "white christian" (?) would not mean the exact tone of such a man in search of his right sexual condition. In my evaluation, the "muslin" feature of the actor added a more in-depth drama performance in the film. Best, JAL

That tender moment at the kitchen sink, when the younger character helps the older character to give in and simply touch him... That's powerful. Yes, I know they ended up having sex, but there is so much to be said for the power of human touch, even without sex. The tender touch of another human, even if only platonic, is often enough to sooth suffering and calm fears.

I agree… it seems more like a scene than a complete short film… I feel like I don’t understand why he’s at that house, nor whether they knew each other already as in the beginning he says something like, “have you heard what happened?” Then, the “32 years” line threw me off… was he married 32 years; is he getting a divorce; is he 32 years old? 🤷🏻‍♂️. It was nicely done yet perhaps lost in translation for me to fully grasp how all of it came to be as in the movie…

Ganhei meu dia, hoje. Viva o carinho e o respeito entre a gente. ;-)

Great and unsettling movie. Been there, done that. It's all so terrifying but I plowed through it all and survived. This movie is wonderful at portraying this time of much confusion and terror.

When he said "thirty two years -- I did this to her," was he talking about cheating or like hiding his sexuality? I can't really tell. I loved this, though. Such evocative chemistry and a really great pacing. Thank you for sharing.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear Dutch, my native language. There aren't that many gay-themed short films in Dutch. I wish this was a bit longer. I really want to see more of Tarik and Jonas.

Hermoso, puro amor.

Muslim-background gay guys must have horrifying issues until they make peace with themselves.
They have to face family rejection, depression, lonelyness, anxiety.
I cant even imagine how, when they come to the Western countries, most of them recover their lives.
    They´re admirable.

I did give a a thumbs up to this good short, however, a criticism I would have, and it is one I have of other excellent shorts, is the spare dialog at the most emotive points, such as at the end when both Tarik and Jonas were outside sitting on the grass. Yes, silent, but expressive contemplation and emotion is an important device in film, but too much of it robs what would have an excellent short.
