  • The Keplinger Research Group at the University of Colorado Boulder has developed a new class of soft electrically activated devices, called HASEL (Hydraulically Amplified Self-healing ELectrostatic) actuators, which mimic natural muscle in both performance and versatility. HASEL can perform delicate tasks like grasping small fruit, strenuous activity like lifting a gallon of water, or provide bursts of power to throw a ball. Additionally, HASEL-powered soft robots can self-sense their position, operate at high-speeds, and heal from damage. The versatility of HASEL actuators allows the design of artificial muscles with uncanny abilities such as high optical transparency.

This is the most incredible artificial muscle I've ever seen

That's real progress. I can't wait to see them in robotics

Groundbreaking.. I tried the Roboy arm last year which was made of motors, strings and pulleys. I thought the skeleton-muscle structure was a good idea, but the technology which could make it practical was not available. In a sense, the Roboy is more or less like the mechanical computer, where the transistor is yet to be invented. And yet you invented it!

Die Österreicher prägen bereits jetzt das neue Jahr: Die Grazer decken Meltdown & Spectre auf, und ein Oberösterreicher mischt die Robotik auf. Weiter so! :o)

    I love that.
Does it come in chocolate, curry, or honey scents?
Hopefully this can be worked into faces to get rid of the doll face robots( they are so sickening).
On prosthetic limbs, I would think these would be preferred also( aesthetic reason)

No doubt there will be sex toys of a similar nature made at some point.
