- I explore Alhambra in Los Angeles County, California along Main Street, Garfield Avenue, and Valley Boulevard. Alhambra is home to a large Chinese-American population, and lined with stores along Main Street and Valley Boulevard. It is located in the San Gabriel Valley, approximately 8 miles from Downtown Los Angeles.

The LA-Orange County metro is so big with so many different neighborhoods that its impossible to see it all even if you live here. Thank You for the tours of different places, I will definitely be visiting some of them. Would love for you to do the Orange Circle if you get a chance.
You’re sooo right about that
What I find strange is that a lot of those who live in the suburbs such as Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia etc despise LA itself.
@@crazeyjoe LA is a complex place, especially for people on the outskirts of the city. Hell, even the people that live in LA have a love hate relationship with the city.
Really appreciate the kind words. It really is impossible to see everything, but I think I've covered a good amount of variety in my trip so far!
@@alvarez.l9422 There were a number of locals in those municipalities that had outright disdain for LA. Comments such as "don't waste your time going to that sh!thOle" or something similar." I found it bizarre being that their city either bordered LA or at least pretty closely. Now, Orange county residence I could understand their point of view, whether or not I agreed because the differece between the two places are much more vast.
When we were kids in the 70's and lived in El Sereno next to S. Pas and Alhambra, we would go to Story Park Pool and Alhambra Pool in the summer. Then we'd shop main st. My mom would take us to the Prep Shop and the Van's store on Mission both in Alhambra. Such a beautiful city in LA
Very cool! Thanks for sharing your childhood memories with us
Im glad that ActionKid is going more inland now.
I was there last Monday. Clean streets. Nice weather. Will start my job in a local medical center very soon!
If you go east on Valley Blvd towards San Gabriel Blvd, you will find alot more plazas with Chinese Resturants.
Yes, a different kind of experience going east!
Alhambra and the San Gabriel Valley are my home, have been for decades. Very interested to watch your video! Thanks......
Enjoyable premiere , thank you AK 👍 Lots of variety on food at that street , cool !!!
Much appreciated
Our family always stay at the Hilton in San Gabriel on Valley Blvd. when visiting LA. Thanks for covering this underrated area!
Valley Boulevard is awesome
Nice scooter ride and walk tour ActionKid. Thanks for touring us to new places. Take care always and God bless!
Beautiful presentation, very extravagant. I wish you success and progress in your work, health, safety and wellness. My thanks, appreciation and respect.💕💜💕
A down-to-earth report of ethnic diversity in the west coast! Excellent!
Wow! I lived in Alhambra in the 1960s-70s. It is totally unrecognizable. TOTALLY! It's like they tore every single building down and rebuilt the whole Main St. I moved to Sonoma County in 1980, and though there have been some changes and some wildfire damage, it still looks basically the same. What happened to Alhambra!
I grew up here too, Alhambra High class of 76! I moved to Ventura in 85 and then east to the gulf coast in 97 and haven't been back to Cali since. Like you I couldn't believe how much it has changed. The only parts that looked the same were Rick's burgers on main (after school hang out) some of Garfield from Mission to Valley and the Hat at Garfield and Valley.
They are wonderful shots again.
Love your video showing our Asian neighborhood around Alhambra 👍🏻
Keep the good work. Hopefully, this will show the world East L. A. is not scary like they say 😆
A part of the Southland I never made it to. Thanks for sharing.
Yo I live there! Like you walked past my street! That's so awesome!
Great video! It particularly inspired me because I also want to edit a video.
Appreciate you ,Kenneth always!!!😍✌️🚶🏻♂️🌴
Looks pretty quiet !
Wow be careful, street drivers so mean. So dangerous. Thank you for sharing hard work video.
AK, I hope you visit the Huntington Library and its magnificent gardens nearby. You would enjoy it, and the historical art and books inside the library.
My stomping Grounds!!
I was in Alhambra on July 23rd to get dinner from Noodle World! 😁 You passed by the restaurant and hope you got to try their food! Lunasia has good dim sum food, and there's usually a wait during the weekend. Banh Mi Che Cali has some good food with decent prices. This walk brings back some memories when I used to hang out in the area. Thank you, AK! 😊
I grew up in Alhambra in the 80s went to Northrup elementary and Alhambra high it’s definitely much different now
Hi Actionkid. we're happy a new yorker taking angelenos to different LA places. is north cali part of your cali adventure? enjoy and stay safe.
Nice vlog of Alhambra. I went to a Chinese wedding banquet there with over 300 people. 10 course meal it was delicious. I wonder if anyone told you about the Chinese Beverly Hills, Arcadia which is also in the area. There’s a crazy RUclips video about it.
Thanks! I could imagine weddings being held here.
Hi actionkid. I really wish you would walk thru some of those fancy movie star neighborhoods. Thank you!!
Compared to NYC this looks like a film set; it is so clean and a bit bland!
There are lots of places like this in the midwest. It's a bit unnerving.
When towns get too clean and new it's seems surreal: same with McMansions.
Maybe the lack of water, bacteria, mould, coloration etc... creates a manufactured aesthetic?
U need to try the HAT
The best pastrami sandwich anywhere! (you have to get it double dipped)
@18:36. It is a doctor office instead of a "medical center. "
I hope I can visit there.. Greeting from Indonesia
Nice
When I attended at UCLA, I used lives in Alhambra a while. There are many Asians live in there.
Good morning!
How did you get Lilac Fresh Tea Cafe from Lollicup Fresh Tea Cafe ?
Great video as usual, ActionKid! There are some other fascinating ethnic areas I think you'd be interested in as well. I remember that you explored Boro Park and Williamsburg in Brooklyn, well, Los Angeles is the second largest community of Jews in the United States (most recent population count is 680,000 to 700,000 and along with that comes the second larges population of Chassidic and Ultra Orthodox Jews in the U.S. Two fascinating and colorful neighborhood to explore are the La Brea-Beverly and the Pico-Robertson Districts. Also, San Pedro is Los Angeles' "Little Italy"...it's been home to Los Angeles Italian community for close to 100 years and is full of great Italian restaurants and businesses and lots of history. Both the Jewish and Italian areas would be awesome videos!
Very cool Thanks for the suggestions!
I’d like to give you a little history lesson about the changing of our cities in and around Alhambra that have changed exclusively to Chinese American residence.
Here are a few other Chinese residence. Let’s start with Monterey Park, Montebello, Walnut, Covina, West Covina, Baldwin park, Duarte, Glendora, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, temple city, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, South El Monte, El Monte, Pasadena, South Pasadena, and of course Alhambra I could give them to you in order of the dichotomy changing in these areas..
I grew up here and went to Alhambra high from 72 to 76. I remember the beginning of the major Asian influence to the area starting in the early 70's as the Vietnam war was drawing to a close and the government was resettling refugees in mass in Monterey Park.
I wouldn't ride a scooter in that street. I live nearby in a Pasadena and this is a congested area. And he uses the entire lane. Not too bright.
When we where children living in and around Alhambra from the 60s 70s and 80s all those precious memories are gone now and the only thing left is our memories. All of these towns have left are a few buildings. Because all of our towns in Southern California are know all Japanese American cities. Alhambra, Temple city, San Marino, Sierra Madre, Rosemead, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Arcadia, Monrovia, Glendora, El Monte, South Elmonte, Pasadena, South Pasadena, La Canada, Altadena, I know I missed probably half a dozen but you get the hint. Yes the Indians and the Mexicans have left and the new migration of Chinese Americans began in the early 1980s till 2022…. But Please enjoy all of our towns I know they have everything you like to eat so that should make you more comfortable.
Whenever you see the term "French Sandwiches" in Chinatown, it is actually a "code" for Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches. These shops are usually owned by Chinese Vietnamese people and admitting to be Vietnamese seems to be a taboo in the Chinese community maybe in the 80's and perhaps 90's.
I wonder how AK compares a 90 plus degrees in LA compared to NYC and elsewhere???
Of course Main Street is also known as Las Tunas Blvd going into San Gabriel.
One of the most famous French chef is Vietnamese!
I'm stunned. So many restaurants, no clothing, home, banks, specialty stores, like music stores. I lived in Alhambra, SG from 1961 through 2009. Wondering how each business, i.e. restaurant can generate enough income to cover their expenses.
👍👍👍
Good Wednesday Afternoon AK
There's A lot Of History In The Area That Your In Try The Food There It's Really Really Good To
As Always Thank You For Sharing This Video With All Of Us Take Care With Love Always Ms British Gray From Tampa Florida Blessings
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very expensive to live here. Small old homes for 1.5 million.
They're around $800k
Siemandero!!!!
Man please get back to NYC
Best Asian restaurants in these areas. Well, prepamdemic at least.,
how refreshing clean streets and NO scaffolds clean buisnesses you sure you want to go back in NY dump ?
I live in Alhambra, 60 years now. You must work for City.
Homelessness is a big problem now last 2 years. Also the city loves meth addicts and filth. Our new. Council people have turned our once clean safe city.
Its has been cleaned up for your filming.
Looks empty and not much going on
