It's a shame how many people call this Spawn Pop Cancer. Spawn Pop Cancer and the Wheel of Death glitch are completely different. Spawn Pop Cancer just kills you in levels only, and can easily be cured. Wheel of Death (which is shown in this video) causes your character to die as soon as he spawns even when you are in Create Mode and the Pod which means you can't use the Pod computer sometimes. To get rid of it, you need to delete your save data or restore from backup. I remember getting this on my old PS3 which wasn't connected to the internet so I was forced to use version 1.00 of the game which included all of the glitches since the game's first release.
Yes this glitch only messes up the saved game data so if you delete that you will be fine and everything will work again. This is why it's good practice to make backups of your game saves on a regular basis....
The reason your reset pod option is gone is because the new update adds a pod section to your popit allowing you to save, delete, and reset your pod! :D Hope this helps with confusion! Sincerely, Totakk920 ~

This same thing happened to me after i had spent like 40 hours on creating a level... Then all of a sudden BAM, and i was in the exact same situation as you... Was also done with all the story mode maps by then, so had to do it all over again :'[... So much wasted time. Tho on the bright side, the game is fun, so going through the storymode wasn't that bad ;P
There was a way out before the patch. It was to leave it on for a few hours. And in that mess around with the controller so it doesn't change to the run cycle. You would die enough times and eventually stop. It just took about 10 hours. It would have been easier to restart but I didn't play on re aceing the bunker level
Player 2 will always remain player 2(or guest) so if you play the levels as him and unlock new stuff it wont save the items you unlock because its not the persons save data its the guest who unlocked it.(No point in playing if your still trying to unlock stuff) If you try switching player 2's controller to player 1 then the character switches back and the glitch reappears.

how did you get this glitch? glitches usually mean you somehow triggered an action in the game that wasn't as intended. as someone notes, 1:59 shows some weird shape? is that maybe an instant kill decoration item that was put onto your sackboy?

THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I PUT "tens of thousands of bombs above the starting point" and couldn't respawn! I had to restart the game! But it worked out for the better bcuz i got to get more stuff the second time through. :)
Considering that this was uploaded about 4 months before they fixed it, it was more like a warning for others. Now it is kinda pointless but its not like I just put this up after it was fixed.

It has nothing to do with the disc, everyone I know it happened to all say it was because they built a giant insanely fast spinning wheel in create mode and grabbed on to it. Sackboy dies because of the speed and never returns :(
alex irisarri in lbp3? Put your progress on a USB stick, if something goes wrong, you have the progress saved. Then delete the game. Your costumes will be lost, but the game works. If it is an older one lbp1 or 2 just reload an old save point, where everything’s fine. Hope I could help. Are you on ps?
alex irisarri what have you done? Modding? I’m asking, because I modded, and then I was stuck. I think if you played as you are supposed to, you don’t have to use an usb, they only delete your stuff, when you played against the rules!
The current patch is 1.14, as long as your PS3 is online, whenever you start the game it should go to a black screen and tell you to hit "X" to download.
I'm not sure if I'm right, but I think the disk is damaged, causing this bug. Check the disk for any damage and if you haven't had the game long, see if you can get the disk replaced for free. Tell me if this helps ^_^
Its just the save data, Sackboy died going extremely fast, so when he spawns he dies, kinda like the game saved his life animation as his dead animation. The disc is fine, games working perfect since I restarted.
I had something similar happen to me in LBP2, where I had the Lethal glitch on and I didn't know how to un-do it because the friend who did it wouldn't tell me the cure. :/ I had to reset my save data.
to advoid this.....DO NOT SET a motor bolt to the max speed then grab it, it will make an infinate death but if you get lucky and the game does not save, you will be safe
I had a nuver problem like this I did the pod glich then put rocket's in the pod but upwards so I joined my friend but when I went back the rocket's covered the hole were you came down so I could not get in my pod so I had to delete all my LBP1 date so stupid
when you quit the game, and went back to the xmb, was that in real time cos that was FAST, when i quit little big planet, it takes quite a bit to go back to the main menu

It could also be that your profile is too big, like you have to many pictures taken, or too many custom outfits saved, deleting some would fix that. It usually gives a warning message when this happens but if you dont have the latest update there was a bug at one point where it didnt warn you when you over filled it.
On 12/18/2008 they released the 1.06 patch (Moderation) and the 1.07 patch which is the one that fixed this glitch (wheel of death) and did alot of other things. They just put out another one patch 1.09
im sorry that happened to you. even though i dont have the game yet, i know its awesome and i can see how terrible that would make me feel. i know its kind of a completely different thing, but when i got the three red rings on my 360, i sent it in to microsoft. it took awhile to get it back, but it was totaly worth it. maybe you could send littlebigplanet to sony or something and they'd fix it for you.
No I grabbed a crazy fast spinning giant wheel, It went so fast he died, so when he respawns the speed still kills him(Kinda like the game saved his state of speed or just as dead, I like to think his leg got caught in the respawn checkpoint lol, o and its disc not disk)
@loonytin U should try go to controllersettings and make sure ur with 3 players in the pod, then add a ''new player'' go to seven at the controllersettings and choose guest, then MAYBE youl get him away But im sure that youll get an black popit 2 :)
No, thats not knowing how to fix it, thats guessing. When controller 1 is turned off player 2 remains player 2 or guest. When you switch controller 2 to #1, player 2 disappears and player 1 comes back still glitched. BTW the glitch is gone thanks to MM.

Did you shut your system off with the back switch while playing a game or demo, or while saving. If so buy a new HDD or call sony and get it fixed for free.

No, the controller is fine and is not the problem, its the game save. If it was the controller other games would be messed up too. Since starting the game over its been fine, I wont make giant spinning wheels again though lol
That's not exactly true, the game of the year edition has more exclusive levels and all the add-on packs already in it for free. Still you didnt have to wait for the new one just for the glitch, its been gone for a long time.

I got a worse glitch. I can't save my costumes, pictures, or even back up my profile. It happened after I got an update for LBP2. MM, if you see this, fix the update glitch. The glitch says 'recent changes to your profile could not be saved due to an unknown error'

It used to happen if your Sackboy went an insane speed, like grabbing a giant wheel thats spinning at max speed.
I actually restarted my game like 2 weeks ago when this happened, I already got the game done 100% complete without dieing in any levels (again. . .)

You have nothing to worry about, it was patched not long ago by Media Molecule. It used to happen if you grabbed a giant really fast spinning wheel.

Its called spawn pop cancer it happens when you break your own pod by using the create in pod glitch

Sounds like a machine gun when your guy went in the level.
Its the wheel of death glitch. In the glitch you die 100s of times a second and this is the game catching up on it.

yup, i thought going back to the pod would end it, but since the game saves automatically when you go to the pod it never went away

Youre the only person to spell disc correctly lol ty, but it is just the save data, the game works perfect after deleting it and starting over.
Notice that they removed the Reset Pod Decorations from the menu. If you had this after patch, GOD KNOWS WHAT TO DO.

You dont have to worry at all, as long as your online and have the latest update this problem is fixed. Spin at top speed to your hearts content =D
