After 3 years of hard work on 7 acres shot a 160" 11 point, have been using all of the tips from these videos. The most fun I've been having hunting has been seeing the progression of the land and herd.
Just wanted to say thanks I have implemented just a few of your practices and have seen and gotten more video than in the past the hardest thing I have is access without spooking deer cuz they use most all of my land so I have more work to do to dictate their movements thanks for the Info
Thanks Jeff, I have 24 acres with some great surrounding property. I'm so encouraged and have begun managing my property due to your wisdom, sincerity, and great lessons you give with every video you put out. I've hunted whitetails for 38 years, since I was 13. Harvested upwards of 75 deer, and I've been more excited about bow hunting now since I've been watching your videos than I think I have ever been. You are such a great and enthusiastic teacher! Thank you Jeff, I'm so inspired to turn my meat harvest into an exciting year long adventure!
Thank you very much for a video of this nature. Our home is on a 7.34 acre parcel and I have killed two does on it since we moved here after retiring from the Army. This information certainly helps with management efforts and ideas. You are a blessing to many people.
I've always loved the attention you give to small parcels. We live and hunt on 10 acres butted up to a few acres of Corp property, and your advice has drastically improved our herd and harvests. In my area, not a lot of bucks getucg over 100 inches and I've gotten two 120 classes and the 12 pointer this year I believe will hit 130+, so thank you for all of your advice!
My brother and I have been following you Jeff since the early 2000's. You recommended Rye back then and we tried it on our 13 wooded acres near Battle Creek. It works! The deer are drawn to it like a magnet. I like to add some Dwarf Essex Rape with it and at times, the deer will selectively eat the Rape out of the plots. Rye is so easy to grow on almost any ground and is inexpensive for the landowner. Enjoy seeing your videos on small parcels Jeff!
Your videos in my opinion are some of the most knowledgeable and USEFUL tips and tricks around. I harvested my 132" 8point on my 15 acre parcel. Thanks jeff greetings from muskegon county Michigan
I've been watching these videos for more than a year and have read, and reread one book. It does take time to connect all these ideas and time to implement them. At least for me it does... Nice talk.

I think you were reading my mind. I just bought a house with 13 acres. I’ve been trying to figure out how to set it up for hunting. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me, but I’m excited to start. Thanks for video!,,
About to close our deal on 18 acres with my step dad and I. These tips will stick with me. Thank you for sharing such beneficial knowledge. You’re making a difference for many!
I love how in these videos he goes over all of the situations not just prime deer habitat and big areas of land. I shot a 10 point this year because of some of theses tactics
John Cholin It took me 40 years to save up enough to get my piece of God's country, 28 acres in eastern PA. This video gives me the concepts i needed to design a high-probability of success hunting parcel. Thank You! I have taken your course - SUPER! I have bought and read the books. All Great! But when you have a small parcel and adjacent property owners who are inclined to trespass I needed a strategy to give me a focused movement pattern with cover surrounding it. this video has really clarified the critical design concepts. I'll get "Top-Gun" next year using this content! JMC
Another great video. We moved from NE Wisconsin down to Southern Illinois, which is actually farther south than the North tip of Kentucky. Here we are December 28th, 2021 and they are still pounding my clover plots. Of course I do the same as you I plant wintergreen's like winter rye, wheat and oats alongside my clovers and at least down here in this Mid-South climate that gets us through the entire hunting season. Keep up the great work thanks man
Jeff, "long time listener/first-time caller," just wanted to publicly exclaim my appreciation for the valuable information you provide. I applied your "precision hunt" methodology this past season and only hunted when "conditions were right" coupled with your food plot strategies and was able to harvest an early archery doe (10-mins on stand during one of your optimal times to harvest does) then Doubled on 16 Nov with a doe and biggest-bodied buck to-date! 2 hunts, 3 harvests--freezer full, mission complete! Wife, lil' kids & new baby were very happy that Daddy wasn't a slave to Nov (as is typically the case). I'll be employing your 2nd setup discussed in this video as my 10-acre SW MI parcel sets up just like you described. I'm up'ing the stakes this year--be tagged-out 'before' the lead flies! #StayStrong
Always a good morning when I get to watch one of your latest videos! This one was very helpful for me because the northern property you described is exactly what I have to work with. As always thanks for the great info!
Im north west Arkansas in the ozark mountains. I layered my rye on a 1 acre food plot. Hardwoods cover my 40 acres. I had extra rye and I broadcasted it in the hardwoods before the leaves fell. I have rye growing in the hardwoods as well. The 1 acre food plot is feeding many deer and the deer are feeding in the hardwoods on rye as well. Rye grain is the single best hunting food plot I've ever witnessed. Thank You Jeff.
Love your videos Jeff, no nonsense approach, no fluff and stuff to sell items, and no fake hype! I have only 1.5 acres in GA but utilize the bad habits of neighbors to maximize my harvests!
Thank you very much that means a lot to me...but really cool you are enjoying the 1.5 acres- that is awesome! Helps to have neighbors with bad habits too 😁
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 I don't complain to them a bit !!! It may not be right, but sometimes I encourage it! I've been able to pattern the deer by them.
I have 15 acres, 3 of that is my parents yard lol, 5 is ag field planted to food plot. November 15th I had 6 mature bucks on my land. We are surrounded by heavy pressure in northwest Ohio and your strategies just work, period. You dont need much land if you give them food cover and dont pressure your plots. Thanks for making me a better hunter. The only problem with your strategies I have is that I tagged out really early and miss sitting in the tree stand lol
Excellent information on wooded areas, I have been following your advise to start my small parcel this year and lucky you post this before I went all out.
Great video Jeff, this is really right up my ally, we have 12.5 acres and are adding 3.5 to it this summer. Not a huge parcel but these videos help so much. I have 3 small plots that held deer for a majority of the season but I noticed this year that once the leaves fall you can see thru the whole property. So they leave to find cover. This years focus is creating as many thick edges as possible using tall shrubs and switchgrass. And cover cover cover. Thanks for the great video sir!
Ill echo what many have said, thats for tailoring info about land management and hunting practices to those of us that own/lease "micro" properties. We have less margin for error and your guidance has proved invaluable to producing quality habitat and minimizing mistakes
Great B roll showing examples. Really liked discussion on food corridor, would like to see more on this. Would also like to see some more detail videos this winter showing your chainsaw work... travel corridors, bedding (doe and buck), TSI, etc. Thank you!
Thanks Sam! Always keep in mind buck and doe bedding cover is the same...but without doe bedding next to food, there will be no buck bedding. Also, make sure to check out my 33 deer bedding habitat vids on the channel ☺️ ruclips.net/p/PLmV8Ilexgmhc22FJJNrBPi-BIpcOZRMLT I am sure that we will have more this season too 👍
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Thanks for the reference on the bedding playlist, I'll check it out. More specifically what I was trying to say is that I find a lot of value in the 'property tour' type videos where you explain what is in front of you, vs explain with B roll and winter being the best look at the improvements. Thanks again for what you are doing.... very helpful and appreciated!!!
So so true I have just over 10 acers and I got some nice bucks but with all info I got from you this last hunt season 2020 will b so much better I hope lol so pumped up for it the next hunt thanks sir
These videos are greatly appreciated! I moved a few years ago from Iowa to Maine. I grew up hunting several Midwestern states and Maine hunting is a WHOLE different world! I have a small 13 acre parcel here in Maine that is mostly woods. The only cleared area that I have is my backyard which is about 1 1/2 acres. I have several apple trees that the deer like but I am wanting to plant a small food plot at some point as well. It is kind of a hard property to hunt also since I have to access it from the North, which is bad for the wind most days. Still trying to figure out how to utilize my property in the best way, and these videos are a huge help. Thank you!
I followed the tips on this video the best I could last year added a little cover but mostly focused on Fall/Winter food. This year I got my first buck, 10 point over 200# I rewatch this video several times to give myself ideas on what to do next.
I have a 15 acre property of which I only “hunt” 1 acre. I don’t want the deer pop to live there, only access moving through between water and feed. I see doe year round and buck during the rut. Perfect for small hunting.
Ive been hunting for some years now and i never realized how lil i actually know about mature bucks finding your channel is going to be top 5 best things to happen to me in 2019. I cant tell you how much i wished i found u years ago best channel on utube hands down just keep the info coming great job
Great info again!!! I hunt a 40 acre parcel with only access to 10 or 15 because of the thickness of cover so I hunt it as a 10 acre parcel. It is surrounded by 40 acres with no hunting allowed so this makes much sense about how and where to plant. By the way watch all your videos and can't wait fir the next and so far this one just made a lightbulb go off.
This video is useful for me because on a map my 140 is all connected but I have an easement rd that separates 9 acres. A wierd 7 acre rectangle that is surrounded 3 sides by nieghbors and a major creek that separates 15 acres. My core farm is 109 with 40 tillable. So that leaves me with 59 acres of core cover. I'm trying to provide as much inner food to draw deer in to core area and out of my edges. Thanks.
Love the information you bring to the table. Living in fort wayne indiana, its been hard these past 3 years on public land finding those hard cover areas without getting through 30+ yards of thron bushes.
Jeff, I hunt Hillsdale county, 20 acres we purchased this year, my bedding area is mainly buck root , thick, gnarly and entangled, almost 5 acres of it, thought it would be good for bedding but now realize it is to thick and deer cannot pass through. Would you bulldoze it and remove it and let it go natural for bedding, or would you just trim it out for travel corridor and bedding. Man I wish I could show it to you. It's kind of why I bought the land. I am ag all around it. Thank you, and best wishes this season. As always, love your content
Hey you and your family put a lot of work in on your hunting places. Youns deserve more than what youns take every year. My lease is goin to be a lot different this year. Plots goin in soon as possible.
@@ophiophagus9933 I harvested two nice bucks in the 4 years I've owned it. Hit a tree branch this year on a nice 8 pointer. My fault. It's also located in a great county so that helps too. Lol
I got 140 acres. 40 tillable. We use farm income to offset some cost of farm ie. Taxes. We keep 2 seperate acres standing. When can I start seeding winter rye/wheat into beans so after harvest I now have established several more acres of food that otherwise would be gone. I will also seed into beans I leave standing for double crop of food for deer. Thanks love your show
I learn so much with every video you post. Thank you for spreading your knowledge. I ordered your food plot by design book. I'm anxiously waiting for it to come in.
Started hunting a small property of 38 acres in 2010. Small parcel I hunted many yrs ago with some friends when I was a kid. They invited me back and I’ve e seen and killed more mature whitetail bucks there than the 200 acre private land I have access to. If done correctly the small parcels are very productive as you demonstrate in this video
I have just under 3 acres just NE of Indianapolis. Surrounded by open ag, on a creek, with cover connecting larger wooded areas. I have have high traffic with a couple 6 and 8 pointers passing through regularly. The doe movement is countless.
Great video Jeff once again! I know once the farmer next door cuts his crops, it is tough hunting the deer because there isn't food around. I'll be working to get food plots in this year focusing on plots that last through the later archery into the late seasons here in PA. And this video solidified some thoughts I had! Thanks!
Successful hunting is a learning process, thanks for being an outstanding teacher. Question, what is the effect of fences on deer movement? Will deer cross a fence to get to desirable food? Thanks, Rick (Tomah)
He has a video of fencelines. And yes they are great things. I hunt a huge chunk of public land. The bigger deer seem to like those fencelines but have to cross them to get to Ag fields that are on public. There are even a few old fencelines inside the public and I seem to see more along there too.
Jeff, thank you for doing this video on small properties this is excitedly what we have in Adams county Wisconsin. Great information Sr. We will be applying your tactics on our property this year. Looking forward to the 2020 hunting season..
Hi Jeff, I have 20 acres all switch grass, mostly wet, 20% hardwood cover and food plots on neighbors lots. I can see the does as they travel through the land, but would like to improve the land so that it draws the big guys enough that I can see them, Fowlerville Mi area
I've watched many of your videos...one video said dont plant rye grass bad idea....this video says plant rye!! Is this rye grass or rye grain your talking about? Love your videos!! Its helping my 5yr plan of growing a deer heard on my 26 acres
Jeff, what’s the best thing to plant in upstate New York right near the Canadian border? The snow gets so tall it’s hard to have a food source all year
Hey Jeff ,i have been waiting for THIS video.Since my 90+ acre lease was sold i'm down to 23 acres counting the narrow 10 i park on. The former lease holds deer(large bedding area)not heavily hunted.Planning to implement these suggestions on1 acre grassy field that was once a vegetable garden.Has good unseen access.will put my plotmaker to work this spring! Thanks So Much!!!
I hunt 40 acres. Out of the 40, 3 acres is woods, 5 acres is a tall grass area where I know does like to bed down, and the rest is cornfield. My neighbors have a nice sized woods at the back of my property but the rest of the area around my property is corn field. Would it be smart or dumb to put a small food plot in the tall grass and how much would it cost because I don’t have a lot of money or machinery to do it? Thanks for the awesome content!
Thank you. I have so many questions for my 12 aces in Southeast Wi. Really, thank you for this video it really help me understand a little more on what to put into my property like ryegrass.
Thanks for the informative videos. Which of these would best apply to Oklahoma? 10 acres about 30% thick cover. Heavy cover to neighbor on north and little bit of hunting pressure to the south.
Thanks for this video. I have 5 acres all hardwood i have been hunting the deer are always passing through i been thinking about planting a field. I just harvested a tall 7 point that was passing through
What's your thoughts on planting on the south facing hill of a creek valley?? The valley is a safe haven... Thickets, Maple and white oak groves. I've kept it cleaned out, and left it unhinged for years. I hunt around it..
Any guidance on a small food plot for a two acre suburban property? Still rye? Have a neighbor with a pond next to us (water), lots of woods and bedding areas between houses. Adulating CT land, i.e. rock walls and rock faces, a National park on one side, and local wildlife nature center on the other side of us. Deer are used to people, lawn mowers, cars and dogs... My property tends to be a pass through, but want to add a small food plot, plus natural browse, that will draw them for longer stints.
Since I've started watching these videos I've had more mature bucks come into my property.. I used to have a closed canopy forestry. I've made a 60yard by 30 food plot on the back side of my land..I've planted Apple trees and chestnuts with wild persimmons already on the land.. I don't feed corn anymore I have hinge cut trees for more winter browsing and better cover on my land.. I've got it where I want it now just maintaining the plot and keeping my trees healthy. Still seeing a lot of deer and bucks are already coming back into the plot..looking to see who survived and any new bucks
Cant wait to try it on my new hunt land got 15 acres 5 field rest is woods going put a long food plot right in middle of the land where goes from think cover to open timber
This is a great video. I have 10 acres 40 miles outside of our nation's capital, in Washington DC. It's surrounded by agricultural fields and lots of patches with hardwood. I see a few monster bucks wonder through during the rut in daylight. Other than that, they're completely nocturnal. I have .10 acres in food plot, but since my land acts as a funnel anyway during the rut, is there anything I can do to make it better?
I’m getting more and more into these vids as I watch them. Have you done any work in Texas? More specifically in Central Texas or the Panhandle? Also, what would be the smallest acreage you’d recommend rifle hunting on?
We have our regular hunting land that is 140 acres with 30 acres of trees total on it. We are planning to put in 500 hybrid poplars. But anyways we also have 3 acres in the river bottom. The nice thing is in that 3 acres we have bedding and a ridge the deer follow to go to the neighbor’s food plots.
Jeff I layered Rye over my brassicas this year and nailed it. Next year is there a certain time I need to spray my herbicide? Southern MI, I planned to plant mid August with same blend of brassicas and rye, I didn’t know if I should let rye grow for cover until June or earlier?
Hi Sam! A food plot corridor would typically be clover, on a very small parcel...very small scale. 10' wide is perfect. I have had them up to a 1/4 mile long on my own land. In the UP of MI I used layered rye on very poor and Sandy soil. Worked extremely well!
Thank you Jeff. I used your cold front strategy this year and got a nice 9 point on Nov. 1st. I also got a large doe on Dec. 31st by using your different stands for day and evening hunts. I lease 24 acres in Upper South Carolina. Can you help us with a schedule for planting plots? Our first frost is a lot later than yours. You start your plantings in August. When should we start ours. Will the same plots work here? There is not very much Ag near me, just natural browse. Congrats on your families successful year., Much Respect Dennis (USN Retired-28 yrs.)
So i have a 5 acre parcel. About 1/2 acre we built our new home on and the rest is down a ravine that we occasionally see deer move throw the bottom from my back porch. The remaining 4.5 acres is wooded surrounded by other neighbors that have 5-10 acres themselves. So i have a few questions. 1) my septic runs down that ravine and our drain filed is down there with some rye and grass. I suspect the deer are hitting that. Should I establish a small food plot in that area? Open up the canopy some as well? Id like to just go down that ravine and bow hunt. 2). Id also like to setup a target for rifle down that ravine as well. I know I maybe asking to do too much with 4.5 acres but is it possible for me to setup both a target and food plot close by and not spook off deer when im shooting back there? I wouldn’t shoot close to rifle season and probably not before bow season but anytime between then would that still ruin that spot?
Love the videos!! I used to frequent the old QDMA forum before they shut it down. I appreciated your contribution there too! My father has a small property that is mature timber in the hills of Mississippi surrounded by clear cut. I started plots in the only ground area (about 1 acre total of 15 that can be planted. The neighbors do have plots on the ridge tops and feed stations. He has TONS of bucks on camera early season but then they vanish. Pretty much what you describe is the OPPOSITE of what you want. He has only nocturnal activity and a portion of this is he has too much activity on his parcel. Besides reduction in movement (human scent and activity) on his side what can we do to improve the property? I discussed with him opening the canopy and providing more cover. The deer bed on the side of the hill in the cutovers next door. I don’t think very far from his property but still not on it. I see no reason why the deer would prefer his property over the neighbors that have a sea of cover and browse as well as are feeding with corn and bran and have some plots.
Can you point me in the right direction for planting the rye food plot you mentioned in this video? If you have an informational video on this I'm interested. Thanks in advance.
What do you think for South Louisiana? Small parcel surrounded by pine forest. Sounds like this also fits what you are talking about? Is that right? Thanks Kelvin
Jeff, you mentioned keeping the food plots parallel to the property borders. What width do you recommend keeping the woods line that will run parallel to fence line and food plot? I have access to a dozer and I don’t want to clear too much. I do have about 20 feet cleared already as a trail running with the fence so I can ride the perimeter of my property.
I hunt on a 540 acre farm as lease aka rental, but only available to about 20 acres I get bucks on cam and doe but they are not daily at all the farmer is always doing something what should I try doing big fan looking for advise. I've watched all your videos and I followed them mostly to a tee. Thanks Greg here in KY
How about hunting the wooded suburbs of the mid-Atlantic region? Lots of PA, MD and VA areas outside of the major cities have incredible deer populations and homes in hard wooded areas with 5-10 acre parcels. Based on your plan I’m thinking it’s best to cut down a strip of trees around 3/4 of the perimeter and plant Rye and clover mix? Also, if it’s legal to just put out corn...is that better than a food plot?
I know this is a 2 yr old video but I have a 20 acre parcel that I also live on, in southeast Michigan, Wayne county. I don't have much money to start a food plot, and also don't have the access to get machines in there to prepare the land. The portion we don't live on and don't maintain is 14 acres of woods. My question for you is how would you manage this area to hold doe and big mature bucks? I know you usually charge for this info but I would like to hold deer on my property. I only have one way in and one way out of my spot and I use as much scent control as possible but as you know that only goes so far. I am surrounded by about 150 acres of woods, and would like to know how to keep them as close to my 14 acres as possible. I'm about 80% sure I know where they are bedding and my property is a main travel corridor to one of their main food sources, mainly because I live next to land that is owned by a radio station and is fenced in so they stay as close to the fence line as possible. There are only 4 maybe 5 people that hunt the 150 acres around me, one of them being my next door neighbor. Just looking for cheap, cost-effective ways to manage my land to hold big mature bucks. Any advice you have will be greatly appreciated. You probably won't even see this but if you do your advice will be very welcome!
Jeff, my aunt owns a big woods setting (mature timber) 90 acres surrounded by 800 acres of same mature timber. Its similar to Josh Cline's property you visited. I would like to apply some of the suggestions from your video on a larger scale. I would love to put in some food plots but my aunt does not want to clear any trees at this point. She likes the park like forest. However, she has agreed to potentially let my father and I do multiple .5 to 1 acre hinge cuts to let some light in to forest floor. My worry is if we do not do enough the deer will browse all the new growth and we will not get any regeneration. Currently walking around the property there is a noticeable browse line. We are working on shooting some does off to help this problem. I know we could influence deer movement even with opening the canopy with hinge cuts. Is it worth doing hinge cuts as a food plot alternative until i can talk my aunt into food plots. I am worried that hinging may be counter productive and I don't want to set the property back by cutting incorrectly. Love all your videos! I cant wait for your next book. I hope you write one on public hunting at some point. Thanks!

Thanks Tesha that is great to hear! Always appreciate the feedback that the info is hitting home. Thank YOU ☺️
This is exactly what I needed, 22 of my 32 acres I hunted on just got sold!
Oh boy...sorry to hear that but great to hear the info hits home! Best of luck this year!
Why
Great video! I’d love to see more videos on managing micro parcels!
Immediately forwarded this to two friends who have 20 acre parcels!
Thanks a lot, I really hope it helps them out!
My buddy sent me this video. Fantastic! I have 17 acres in upstate NY. This video is now my guide!
You should do some plains states videos for us north dakota folks. I bet south dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas viewers would benefit as well.
Great to hear Ruka! Really good timing, eh? Best of luck for the off season planning...
WOW!!!!! Another great video, you covered it all in a short time, very informative and extremely interesting.
Thanks as always for sharing.
Bob
Thank you very much Bob..really hope it helps folks out a lot! I need to stick with 3 points instead of 10 😁
Ill echo what many have said, thats for tailoring info about land management and hunting practices to those of us that own/lease "micro" properties.
Also, make sure to check out my 33 deer bedding habitat vids on the channel ☺️

I am sure that we will have more this season too 👍
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Thanks for the reference on the bedding playlist, I'll check it out. More specifically what I was trying to say is that I find a lot of value in the 'property tour' type videos where you explain what is in front of you, vs explain with B roll and winter being the best look at the improvements. Thanks again for what you are doing.... very helpful and appreciated!!!
@@sambilhorn9282 thanks Sam!

@@davidbarrigear1266 Thanks David, I agree! Awesome to see Jeff share a plan layout example of how design features fit together!!
So so true I have just over 10 acers and I got some nice bucks but with all info I got from you this last hunt season 2020 will b so much better I hope lol so pumped up for it the next hunt thanks sir
Well u hope so too Bill! It doesn't take much, that is for sure! Enjoy the off season planning...1/2 the fun ☺️
Your method is absolutely right. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you!
Jeff, excellent information based on amount of acreage to help retain deer on your property! Always find a good takeaway from your videos. Thank you!
I followed the tips on this video the best I could last year added a little cover but mostly focused on Fall/Winter food. This year I got my first buck, 10 point over 200#
I rewatch this video several times to give myself ideas on what to do next.

I sincerely appreciate this video. My imagination is on fire now. Thank you!
Great video Jeff. Thanks for your time and work that goes into making these videos.
This is the best video yet! Thank you very much!
I got 6 acres. Love these videos!
Thanks Chris that is perfect, should be a great fit!
How have you done on your 6?
@@ophiophagus9933 I harvested two nice bucks in the 4 years I've owned it. Hit a tree branch this year on a nice 8 pointer. My fault. It's also located in a great county so that helps too. Lol
Chris Heinen nice lol it happens
@@ophiophagus9933 still hurts.
Very good video and advice, you a mountain of knowledge and we appreciate it
How am I not paying to watch this. Great tips
I truly hope that it helps you out a lot!
I have just under 3 acres just NE of Indianapolis. Surrounded by open ag, on a creek, with cover connecting larger wooded areas. I have have high traffic with a couple 6 and 8 pointers passing through regularly. The doe movement is countless.
Looking forward to applying the advice in this and your other videos this year. Lots of good advice for "the little guy/gal".
Great video with a lot of information. Thanks Jeff.
Jeff, thank you for doing this video on small properties this is excitedly what we have in Adams county Wisconsin. Great information Sr. We will be applying your tactics on our property this year. Looking forward to the 2020 hunting season..
Thanks for talking about smaller acres.... Getting 14 acres tomorrow with rover running through it
Hi Jeff, I have 20 acres all switch grass, mostly wet, 20% hardwood cover and food plots on neighbors lots.
Great video thanks so much for sharing
Thanks a Jerrod! You are very welcome ☺️
Cereal Rye.........do not plant rye grass.
I would like to find out more about layering rye grass Jeff.
www.whitetailhabitatsolutions.com/blog/winter-rye-layered-food-plot-progression
Your video mentioned planting rye, what type of rye to plant? Would it be a winter rye or some sort of perennial rye? THANKS
Hello! Always annual rye...rye grain...winter rye...fall rye...never perennial rye with the exceptions of lawns, interior roads, etc.
Great video brother as always. Be safe out there and GOD BLESS you and your family brother Amen 🙏.
Jeff
I layered Rye over my brassicas this year and nailed it. Next year is there a certain time I need to spray my herbicide? Southern MI, I planned to plant mid August with same blend of brassicas and rye, I didn’t know if I should let rye grow for cover until June or earlier?
Food corridors... what are you planting? Splitting down the middle like your main plots or just one type throughout? Thanks!
Congrats on your families successful year.,
Much Respect

It sure does Kelvin! Desperate need of food that can attract deer from a very long distance in an area like that. Very powerful!
I mean the first part of the video. Lots of cover everywhere.
Love your videos! Was wondering if its better to have 1 larger plot or a few smaller ones on 8 acres in the big woods of pa?
How would you go about a long narrow 18 acre parcel with one neighbor being a line sitter - so frustrating!
Sounds like you need to set up all your stands on that neighbor's border and put all of your improvements as far away from him as possible
What would you recommend for a 12 acre "patch woods" that is completely surrounded by ag fields in central Indiana?
Thanks!
