What are the books you’ve read in the last three months? Which genre seems to be working to best for your?
A magical girl retires, really liked it.
I read both I Who Have Never Known Men and Chain Gang Allstars in May, which was my best month so far. I’m reading mostly non fiction (civil rights and women’s and Black history mostly) as well as fantasy this year
For me it was Kim Jiyoung born 1982. That was a great recommendation. I liked how calm she (the main character) sounded when stating her criticisms. Anyways, good luck tonight! I mean, it's totally the wrong place to bring up a football match but since we almost never play against you guys...
Sci-fi all the way! I’ve been getting a lot into Tchaikovsky this year I am literally trying to slow down 😂
Wow, it's difficult to answer that because most of the books I read in the last three months were self-published Spanish authors or little Spanish publishers, the more internationals were manga, light novels and Night Watch by Terry Pratchett (every year in the same date). The total of these three months is 37 books and 1 currently reading (Dracula, I'm reading base on the dates in the book).
I stayed up till 1am cuz i couldn't put "Piranesi" down. Absolutely adored it. That one and "Blood over bright Haven" have been my favorite reads of the year so far
I wish I could forget Piranesi to get the reading experience all over again
Love the ambiance and lighting. 💫
In the middle of redecorating! Glad it’s looking good so far :D
@@BookswithEmilyFox Oh good luck with the redecorating, Emily. Ya I keep most of my books in my room. In the bookshelf built-in to my closet. Which is a deep self, which isn't my favorite aesthetically. I've made it work ❤. And a small one next to my bed 🛏️.
The tainted cup sounds so good 😭
As a microbiologist, I'm so pleased you enjoyed I Contain Multitudes!
I've added a whole bunch of these to my library TBR - thanks Emily!
One I had downloaded as a sample already 😅
A video every couple of days??? Yes pleaseee ❤
My favourite one of the last 3 months was The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. It was such a feel-good story! I’ve also been reading a lot of historical fiction lately.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt is the one book that I would recommend about an older woman's relationship with a caged octopus at an aquarium that she works at; I like hearing about the octopus's perspective on his captivity and what he knows about the woman's dead son.
Personally I had to DNF it but I'm glad it worked for you!
@@BookswithEmilyFox Ah that's too bad. Well that's the great thing about books though, you can like completely different types of books 📚 then your friends. I actually own it. Got it used. It definitely seems like a story id enjoy
The Thirteenth tale is a good read! I only read it recently but it's been on my shelf for 10-15 years. Eek! When I worked at the book store when I was at uni it was a best seller and we sold a lot of it. Glad to see someone on book tube not solely focussed on new releases! ❤
It had been on my shelves for so long too! I think it's worth picking up!
The Postcard by Anne Berest has been my fave this month. Amazing!!!
Yay 🖐️❤. So exciting to watch this soon 😄. Your videos are so fun to watch Emily 👏🏻. Yay!!! I love watching these types of videos. Especially the book recommendations. Very helpful and fun. 😊
I actually have The Thirteenth Tale on my TBR this month!
Ya its definitely frustrating when trying to organize your books 📚😔😅
It's interesting hearing you talk about Funny Story, I had written it off in my mind because of the ex thing. But maybe it will be fun. I've only read Beach Read so I should look into Funny Story as well. I definitely appreciate the emotional maturity of the characters in Emily Henry's work! :)
🎉🎉🎉 so excited!!!
Since you enjoyed I Contain Multitudes, another really good human biology book is Emperor of All Maladies.
I enjoyed it! I want an updated version!
The square of sevens, The book of doors, and both books in the Emily Wilde series.
my reading year has been incredibly shitty (mainly due to a huge reading slump while I was writing my thesis), but I absolutely loved A study in drowning by Ava Reid, and Funny story by Emily Henry. ready looking forward to the rest of the year now that I’m free though!
Reading while in school is so hard! I'm glad you found some good ones anyway!
A study in drowning is so good, one of my favs as well.
My top 5
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
Dragon Rider by Taran Matharu
Circe by Madeline Miller
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
The Secret Garden by Fraces Hodgson Burnett
Oh all sounds interesting 🤔 thank 😌 you
I’ve been meaning to continue the Ferrante series. I should finally pick up that third book. ❤
It's worth it!!
@@BookswithEmilyFox I've not heard of it. Is it good?
I read the Neapolitan Series by Elena Ferrante back to back and could not put down. They are my all time favorites. I plan to re read them. ❤❤❤❤❤
My 14 year old fur baby passed suddenly last week. And now I can’t find interest in anything but being in a dark room while in bed
So very sad for your loss. Fur babies are our family not just a pet.
I'm so sorry for your loss
Awww my kiggy 🐈 was 15. We had to put him down. He was in bad shape 😢. He had kidney failure and thyroid disease. Ya... Rip fur babies 😔.
Jasna
Hi Emily, I've just recently found your book channel, but I've followed your beauty channel for years and I really miss your lipstick swatches videos. Maybe you could do some ready with me book review type of video in the future? :) I love reading everything from fantasy to classics and everything in between, like I love makeup from drugstore to luxury - if it's good it's good.
My recommendations from this year: Great Alone by Kristin Hannah; Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin; and Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey read by the author.
Bonne journée et bonne lecture! :)
The Neapolitan Novels are amazing!
The Thirteenth Tale…omg, love that story.
I loved The Thirteenth Tale, but I really love twisted gothic novels in general
I loved Funny Story and my brother recommends I Contain Multitudes.
cool vlog x how those kittens doing , mine are stiĺ driving me mad but there getting better x
They're good! Chunky found a new hobby, chewing cables :/
@@BookswithEmilyFox Hehe 😂. Cats are a menace sometimes kiggy 🐈
The Tainted Cup is the novel version of Charlie and Macs movie screenplay starring Dolph Lundgren as a detective dog-man who smells crime.
These last months, I really enjoyed Les Misérables and the Scythe trilogy!
Love Elena Ferrantes Neapolitan series but my emotions while I read it 🤯🤦♀️❤️🫠😞🥹😱😨🤢🤌
James by Percival Everett is my favorite book so far this year.
I just finished "The Will of the Many" and did give it 5 stars though I do think a few things were very convenient, Vis is a little unconvincinhly too smart at times, andtbh I thought the ending was convoluted (but Fantasy endings are a Me problem). Also, can anyone tell me if Red Rising is worth it?
Taking notes 📝
Hehe 😅. Ya same here. I have so many downloaded samples on my kindle lol 😆. And have a good amount of physical books 📚
@@YW2324 love how Emily’s recommendations are not the usual you see from other youtubers. I just know she might even be happier than Elena Ferrante that My Brilliant Friend is NYTBooks top1 lol
@@Mari_0706 Ya I completely agree 👍🏻 with that my friend 💪🏻😊. I read a book in one day. I don't do that too often lol 😆. Ya I'll watch this after work tomorrow 😁
Read Lonesome Dove
I guarantee it will be on your end of the year list!
Is The Will of the Many still one your 2024 faves?
Yes but this video is about the books she read in April May and June not the whole year.
What happened to The will of many?
These are just the books she read in April May and June, The Will of the Many was her first book of the year in January.
No blood over bright haven??
Je l'ai lu l'année passée!
@@BookswithEmilyFox ah je pensais en janvier 2024 oups 😊
❤️📚🐱
Surprisingly, LGBTQIA+ Romantasy /Fantasy with a Romance plot is my most read genre. Who am I? I'm blaming the Danmei genre
If you like Emily Henry you might like Abby Jimenez. Great banter and the men don’t suck!
I've read 3 of hers! I didn't like the second one in her latest series but I did like the other two!
@@BookswithEmilyFoxoh no 😢
Emily, you are very pretty and beautiful
